Utilizing different games and activities to help each student learn Music Theory concepts.
Explaining and experiencing Music Theory in areas not used in the classroom, based on the students learning styles.
Some of the past events students participated in, included a Football Event during the Super Bowl, a Summer and Winter Olympic Event and few practice challenges, where students had to complete a series of Music Theory Events to advocate for their success. All of the students did very well completing the events needed and learned new techniques in creative ways.

Berklee College of Music graduate teaching Music Theory. Topics include: Music notation, intervals, scales, chord construction, chord progressions, traditional harmony, blues harmony, tensions and advanced chords, chord scales, modes. If desired it's also possible to go over basics of arranging, instrumentation, orchestration, and composition in various styles.

About Andy
I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2002 with a Bachelor's of Music Degree (Majors: Guitar Performance, Contemporary Writing & Production).

I always create a personalized lesson plan for each individual student based on musical background, current abilities on the instrument, musical preferences (styles, bands, artists, songs) and student goals. For students with no prior musical training I prefer to go through a beginner's guitar method book along with my own materials to cover all the basics (parts of the guitar, tuning, reading standard music notation and tablature, rhythm, basic chords, etc.) If students are unsure about what songs they want to learn, I also have a huge collection of song transcriptions for different skill levels and in many different styles (Blues, Rock, Country, Jazz, Classical). Even though I can teach
all these styles to a certain degree, my specialization is in Rock and Blues. At Berklee I have studied with a lot of great guitar teachers. Among them Jon Finn and Joe Stump. I have studied extensively with Joe Stump in private lessons for 6 semesters and incorporate a lot of the material I have learned there into my own lessons. At the intermediate to advanced level I cover all important solo guitar techniques (Alternate Picking, Legato, Sweeping, Hybrid Picking, Tapping).

If you are stuck or can't get through certain barriers, I may be able to show you techniques or new ways to break through these barriers. You can finally get the results you always wanted or achieve skill levels you never imagined were possible. It does not need to take 10 years to become proficient at an instrument. Big improvements can be experienced after just a few months with the right training.

And most importantly, I believe music should be fun. I always try to make the experience of learning the guitar as enjoyable as possible.

My lessons are all about fast results!
If you see fast results you will have more fun.
If you have more fun learning the guitar you will practice more.
If you practice more you will get better faster.

So, your goals are most important to me and help in designing your lesson plans. If you are unsure I can help in setting goals. To reach your goals it is sometimes necessary to fill in gaps that prevent you from getting there, such as an understanding of music theory concepts (scales, chords, arpeggios, etc.) and improving technical skills on the guitar (legato, alternate picking, sweeping, etc.).

I can teach almost any style of Music, but I am best in Blues and Rock Styles, especially Classic Rock from the 60's, 70's, 80's, Blues Guitar, Hard Rock and Modern Rock Guitar Styles.

No better guitar teacher than Andy Mueller. I began with him when I was 10, and was able to progressive extremely because of his knowledge and methods of teaching. I am now 21 living in Paris, playing gigs and still remember and have all those sheets of scales he gave me years ago!

Anyway, hope all is well. If I ever find myself back in Dallas I will make sure to give you a call.

Andy taught both of my sons guitar from the time they were 10 and 13 until they both graduated from high school. He is an amazing teacher! Andy had both boys playing simple tunes from the very first lesson, which was so much more effective than teaching tedious scales and theory. They were hooked right from the beginning and continued to improve rapidly with Andy's method of teaching new material and styles, as well as reading music and advanced theory as their skills improved. Andy is very talented, patient, organized and creative in his ability to come up with new and interesting ways to learn. Both of my sons still play guitar. Andy has instilled in them a love of the instrument that will be with them for life. I give him 5 stars and recommend him highly! Melissa Auberty - Dallas, Texas

Music Theory is the basis of all music. Learn what makes music wonderful from the building blocks of its foundation.

About Morgan
Morgan B. is available for in-home, in-studio, and online lessons worldwide. Morgan has been singing for 15 years and teaching for 4. He teaches all experience levels, from beginner to advanced students who have been singing for many years.

His approach to teaching is to create well-rounded musicians. He teaches theory, language, acting, all in addition to the voice technique. He encourages the exploration of the voice and fostering that adventuring mentality because each persons journey is going to be different!

He has been professionally studying music for the past 15 years! He started performing with the American Boychoir back in 2003. I then went on to study classical voice, primarily opera, at Walnut Hill School for the Arts. He studied for 4 years there and then obtained a degree in Vocal Performance from Millikin University
, and a M.M in Opera Performance at Wichita State University.

He prides himself in always taking the time to learn about his students, and he has taken many seminar courses about the voice and how it progresses and is always in the process of learning new teaching techniqes!

He's open to other styles of singing, however his focus is classical training. He believes that with a good classical base you can explore many different types of singing, such as Jazz, and Musical Theater to name just a few. He's very excited to be doing this and he can't wait to help you learn about your voice!

*** Lesson Details ***
Every lesson will be different because each student is different! I urge you to come explore your voice with me and learn what works best for you! I prefer to give hour voice lessons, because that gives me more time to work with you, however I will be just as happy to work in 30, or 45 minute slots as well!

*** Specialties ***
Classical! If you haven't seen it so far in my writing, I love opera. It's one of my favorite, all-encompassing, art forms and I am in a constant state of wonder when I watch it and perform it. My main specialty is just that classical base that every singer needs!

I teach basic musical knowledge, notes and scales, and basic harmony, all the way up to advanced counterpoint, tonal theory, and composition.

Theory can be tough at first, but by looking at it in small bites, along with practicing what is most important for each student's education, it can be approached in an effective and stress-free manner.

About Brendan
As a performing artist, I understand the many challenges that learning and communicating a new skill (such as learning a new language or studying music) presents. However, with years of experience, I have learned how to master many of them, and to teach others how to overcome their own difficulties by encouraging the teacher within each of them.

The building blocks for music lie in music theory. I was placed in all faster-track theory classes in college and passed all with flying colors. My understanding of theory is more than sufficient to teach and tutor. I also use theory in my teaching on occasion to inform musical style, text painting, and acting choices.

About Chy
Welcome to my page! My name is Chy and I've been teaching private voice lessons since 2011. I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Voice Performance in 2013 and a Masters degree in Opera Performance in 2015, both from Wichita State University. While fulfilling my Masters, I was one of four Graduate Teaching Assistants in the voice department. Currently, I am a paraprofessional for a local high school, freelance performer/actor, acting coach, and private voice instructor in the Wichita area. In addition to teaching, I am an active performer with professional experience. I have had the opportunity to teach a variety of singing styles ranging from pop, musical theater, opera, sacred and jazz. I am a firm believer that there is no right or wrong way to sing, but rather efficient and less efficient ways. I am here to help you accomplish your
goals whether singing is a hobby, professional goal, or a way to pass time in the car. I look forward to working with you!

Chy is a terrific singing coach that I would eagerly recommend to anyone who's interested in establishing solid technique. Over the course a dozen or so online lessons, he's brought me from being the subject of good-natured ribbing at karaoke events, to receiving my first compliment (something that I did not think was even theoretically possible). On top of that, he's friendly, a clear communicator, and has extremely reasonable rates.

By way of background, I am a total beginner when it comes to singing, but I've had extensive training in violin and piano (>15 years, including at places such as Meadowmount) where I have been exposed to many different teachers. The best teachers I've had focus on establishing fundamentals regarding posture and mechanics. Consistent with that, Chy has a deep knowledge of how to address those fundamental issues, which (at least in my experience) crop up in beginning and very advanced students alike. For that reason, I would recommend Chy for a student of any ability who is looking for a fresh perspective.

One last thought regarding online lessons: I am somewhat old-school because I used to make the ritualistic weekly commute to my violin and piano instructors. But, much to my delight, I have found that FaceTime is an excellent way to take lessons from Chy and does not appear to impede the instruction at all.

I will help you to understand music theory as it applies to your specific instrument. Additionally, we will look at information regarding instruments you may accompany. We're not looking at orchestrating a symphony and will not learn erroneous information. This is focused on developing the knowledge necessary for mastery of your instrument or instruments and bringing more to you creatively. It also serves to give you the real world ability to communicate with other musicians who work with a different instrument.
This is a great subject for combining with other subjects, which I'm always happy to do. For some students, this can justify a 90 minute lesson. I have some adult students who spend as much as two hours with me.

About Phil
I've taught both privately and in the classroom (in schools from Pre-K to college, and through workshops), and have been a working musician and teacher for more than 25 years. I have a degree in music from Columbia College Chicago (Summa Cum Laude). My students have included everyone from absolute beginners to working professionals like myself. Many of my students have gone on to careers in music as performers, songwriters and/or teachers.

My approach in private instruction involves tailoring the lessons to the specific needs of each student, while making sure that he/she has the knowledge and technique to succeed in their creative endeavors. Whether it's a hobby or a potential career, I leave nothing out. You will learn the entire instrument. In cases where a student works in more than one subject, one session can typically be applied
to all/both of them. I strive to help every student find their own creative voice, while building the skill sets required to work in any style of music.

I also offer group lessons for 3 or more students. For friends at similar skill levels, this can offer a fun and more affordable way to learn a subject. It also serves as an additional motivator as the students in the group feed off of each other for ideas and inspiration.

Please feel free to contact me with the "Ask Phil a Question" button on my profile here. This can include questions about my method, or regarding days and times for lessons. What you see in my availability here is based on my schedule away from TakeLessons. I have students elsewhere and perform shows regularly. I may have additional times available and tend to have some flexibility. I teach worldwide online. Just ask.

As soon as you're ready to book lessons, you can use the Green Button after selecting your area of study, day and time. I will receive a notification that you've signed up. I will then confirm with you and send a questionnaire regarding your lesson needs within 48 hours.

Thanks for your interest.

I look forward to working with you!

Classical and jazz theory. Focusing on training the ear as well as our knowledge of theory.

About Grady
My personal philosophy of music is to explore and learn as much from my students as I can teach them. For me teaching is like going on an adventure to find something together. I've been able to play all over the world and tour with many different musicians and the thing that made the core of every great performance was the human interaction and communication. For me music is about being more human. This is something I just as much try to impart and teach in my lessons as theory and technique.
