Beginners will learn the basics of how to hold, strum, fret, play their first chords, and get introduced to simple musical concepts.

Intermediate/Advanced students will learn ways of visualizing and mapping the fretboard. They will learn ways of improvising that break away from the pentatonic box cliches. Students will learn triads and 7th chords in all inversions and in multiple voicings. They will learn 9th, 11th, and 13th chords. Students will learn to think like musicians rather than just guitar players, learning how music works so they can essentially fit into any musical situation regardless of genre.

My goal is to make you a complete musician who is only limited by your own creativity and drive, not by the instrument itself.

About myles
I grew up playing in blues bands and eventually became interested in jazz. Over the years, I've gigged in a variety of genres from jazz and blues to r&b, hip-hop, soul, funk, pop, musical theater, rock, etc. in KC, NYC, and throughout the Midwest.

My teaching isn't genre-specific. I give you the tools and knowledge to do anything you want with music and the guitar, whether your goal is to strum folk songs, audition for music school, play blues or jazz guitar, or just about anything else.

My qualifications:

- B.F.A. in Jazz and Contemporary Music from The New School (NYC, 2012)
- M.M. in Jazz Studies from Aaron Copland School of Music (NYC, 2018)

I'm available to teach online via webcam and in person at Village Music Academy in Prairie Village, KS.

I have taken webcam lessons from Myles for a little over two years now and I couldn't ask for a better teacher. I had already played guitar for years and studied with a few local teachers, but was stuck in a rut. I now know a lot more about music than I did when I started with him.

Lets get jamming and learn some blues scales and riffs!

About Paul
I am a classically trained guitarist whose mission is to help my students reach their goals while inspiring a love and passion for music. Never picked up a guitar before? No problem! You’ll be playing your favorite songs in no time. Have you been playing for years but need a little help overcoming that next hurdle? Great! You’ll be playing better and with more confidence than ever before. In order to truly improve you need determination and dedication, and that’s why I try to keep things fun and inspired from the very first lesson.

I first picked up guitar in 7th grade and never put it down afterward. I took lessons throughout high school and eventually decided to pursue music in college. I received my Bachelor of Music in Recording Technology and my Master of Music in Classical Guitar Performance from Ball State University. While stud
ying I held the Classical Guitar Graduate Assistantship at BSU. My responsibilities included instructing individual undergraduate students in proper classical guitar technique, history of the instrument, and musical expression through etudes and repertoire in preparation for performances. I also directed small classical guitar ensembles as part my of duties.

After receiving my degrees, I moved to Chicago and, in addition to my own private lessons, I also taught for Merit School of Music in Chicago and Sherwood Community Music School at Columbia University. I instructed private and group classical guitar classes with both schools. Our goals were to expand students’ personal and educational growth by cultivating a strong work ethic, effective listening, teamwork, and self-confidence. We developed each student’s musical potential by improving their musical knowledge, skill, and instrumental technique.

I took a short hiatus from teaching to travel Australia and New Zealand. While there I still taught and did a little street performing while traveling. While I was there I began working with Yousician to develop an additional service for their app in which users get personalized help from music teachers. Now that I am back in the USA I'm ready to get back into teaching full swing!

When I teach I don't simply have a One-Size-Fits-All approach. Every guitarist is different, with what they're good at, what they need to improve on, their likes, and their dislikes. Because of this, I use their interests to help propel them forward while incorporating personalized technical exercises that are designed to help them overcome challenges. Simultaneously, I sprinkle in Music Theory so that each student can gain a stronger understanding of harmony, rhythm, and layout of their instrument. So, whether you're trying to pursue music at the collegiate level or just learn a few of your favorite songs, I'll be sure to help you get here and have some fun along the way!

Please let me know if you're looking for Private Lessons and whether you're interested in Online, In-Home, or In-Studio Lessons as my rates are different for each type of lesson. Additionally, I do provide Group Lessons on a case-by-case basis. If you're interested in Group Lessons please contact me and we can work out the details. Finally, I have a 24-hr cancellation/reschedule policy. If you fail to notify me 24 hours in advance of our lesson it will count as a missed lesson.

I look forward to hitting the shed and getting to shred!

I had no idea how good I had it with Paul. I'm an intermediate player who's been strumming cowboy chords for 20 years, and Paul helped me move forward much faster than I otherwise could have on my own.

Noah is very patient, encouraging, and enthusiastic. I felt comfortable and encouraged when taking lessons with Noah. I've taken private lessons for other instruments, but I'm a beginner with formal guitar lessons. Noah made it easy for me to get started at the first lesson. I would highly recommend Noah for beginners or experienced musicians.

Hello there! My name is Tyler and I would love to teach you or your child how to play the guitar.

I purchased my first guitar when I was 8 years old and was so excited to learn how to play. I took my first lesson a year later, but was disappointed. I didn't find it fun and therefore didn't want to practice. I wanted to play songs, but all the instructor wanted me to do was learn basic theory. After not making progress... I stopped the lessons. The next year I tried a different instructor, but still did not learn much. The issue for me was playing guitar wasn't fun for me at this point. And that is the most important thing in my opinion if you are going to dedicate yourself to learning to play. A few years later... I discovered punk rock music and online guitar tabs. Suddenly, I was able to look up on my own how to play songs that I was actually excited to play. This changed everything. I started to practice daily. Within a few more years... I could handle almost any basic chord ...

I started to write songs and began producing recording sessions in my early 20s. I still play every day and would love to get you or your child as thrilled about playing the guitar as I am. The way I believe to best achieve that is start off by teaching you to play some simple songs that you are excited about.

If you already know some guitar basics... but want to expand on them. Then I'd love to help you with that also. I can teach how to do improve your ability to play solos, fingerpick, etc.

Please see my questionnaire! Would love to have a strong start together by learning a bit about you and your motivations!

About Jake
I'm a husband and father. My dad taught me guitar as a kid and now I've been playing for about 20 years. I start lessons with beginners by asking what you want to accomplish on guitar. Let's discover what you want to do on the guitar and make a plan to get you there.

I am flexible for any frequency of lessons that best fits your schedule (weekly, bi-weekly, etc.). With summer upon us, I understand the need to be flexible. Let me know what works for you and we will make it work.

For parents: I want to create a safe and empowering learning environment for your child(ren). As your child continues in lessons with me I'd love to connect with you along the way as well to discuss how I'm doing and what we can do to continue empowering your child.

I have experience teaching children living with unique needs. If your child is differentl
