As an educator, my philosophy is to teach my students how to become the best versions of themselves by creating a safe, healthy learning environment. My mission is to cultivate musicians to be the best they can be by receiving a well-rounded music education, developing mastery, and becoming life-long music appreciators. My goal as an educator is to inspire and encourage students to test their limits and strive for musical, personal, and professional growth.

Benefits of being in my cello studio:

Flexible schedule: Unlike other cello teachers, I have a lot of availability throughout the day and week. As long as you reschedule within 24 hours, and I can guarantee you have a lesson during that week!

Access to resources for free: Students in my studio will receive special access to my cello studio google drive folder on my website. You will find helpful resources such as music, video tutorials, recordings, and so much more that are only available for students in my studio.

They way she teaches the lessons makes it educational and yet fun at the same time. She's easy to get a long with and communicates well. Loved that she complimented me when I was doing something right. She made me feel very comfortable. Overall she was a great teacher.
Sarah
We met Ashley when she was a junior in college through the Univ. of Texas String Project. Over the two years with her in this program, Ashley has been most dedicated and caring, and her passion for teaching showed when she went above and beyond to address my questions. She is also organized, reliable, and resourceful. During the program breaks and then post graduation, we continued with private lessons because Ashley made lessons fun so my little cellist loves hanging out with Ashley that much! Transitioning to online lessons was a trial for everyone, but Ashley managed to make that work and her dedication did not falter. We are so thankful for her and highly recommend her to anyone looking to learn/improve in cello.

I have had many good teachers in my career as a musician. But I have been lucky to have had a few GREAT teachers. It is easy to settle with "just ok", particularly when taking lessons as a novice. However, the difference between a "good" teacher and a "great" teacher at any point in your journey as a student can hugely impact your success and relationship with the instrument.

As a teacher, I aim to be great for my students. For beginners, we focus on developing a solid base - getting comfortable with the instrument, understanding it, building fundamental skills such as how to hold the bow and basic fret board patterns. From there, we begin learning to read music, which I still find to be the most valuable skill a musician can have. Learning to read music notation is easiest at a young age, so I like to begin as soon as the student is ready. However, as a student of improvisational music, I like to introduce ear-training and improvisation as well. It is a fun way to teach students how

Caroline is a phenomenal teacher! While she holds high expections for her students, she is very easy and fun to learn with. She treats me more like a friend rather than a student. Caroline also provides high quality lessons, making sure even the smallest details in the music are not missed. While it can get tiring at times, I have improved tremendously under her tutulage. She also sacrifices her personal time with students to make sure they succeed in upcoming auditions and competitions as well. If you want a demanding teacher who can magnify your potential, Caroline is the one to go to :D

Caroline is a fantastic cello instructor! I was able to improve not only my technique but also my musicality and to really appreciate music. I would recommend her to anyone who's looking for a highly experienced teacher.

I've completed about 1 year of lessons with Carolyn, and my experience has been exceptional.

Carolyn is insightful and encouraging. She knows when to offer critical feedback and when to offer positive feedback based on her student's temperament. She also paces progress based on the student's aptitude, too.

I'd recommend Carolyn for any beginning string musician without any hesitation.

"Daniel has been a fantastic teacher for me! I am an adult beginner who picked up cello during quarantine. We had few in person classes at Juilliard and then everything shifted to online. I'm surprised by my progress in the past year. Daniel is very effective in helping me produce a better, warmer sound on cello. I would recommend him 100% to everyone who is interested to learn or progress on cello."

"Out of all the instructors I’ve had (instructors with PhDs and over twenty years of experience teaching cello), Chialing is the best by far. I’ve been taking lessons with her for a little over a year and a half and I know that aside from her general likability, she is very diligent and detail-oriented—characteristics essential to fixing technique problems sometimes rooted in even the slightest improper finger placement. Furthermore, she quickly re-explains concepts in new ways until I understand them both conceptually and physically. She also goes out of her way to find drills tailored toward keeping current skills sharp and improving weak skills. She will work with you to ensure you keep improving and stay interested in the piece and drills you’re working on. She won’t disappoint."

What are the Hardest Cello Pieces? How to Get from Beginner to Advanced Player

As a beginner I often told myself I would know I am a really great cellist when I could play Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumblebee at full speed. To my young ears, this simply had to be one of the hardest cello pieces with its high range, chromaticism, and famously fast tempo. As my musical career continued I worked on these and other skills to reach a point I could begin learning the piece confidently, and it was only a matter of time before I achieved my goal. Of course, this wasn’ …

What Are the Names of the Cello's Parts? A Closer Look

The string family has a unique history, and a very unique look. There are also internal posts and sound bars which allow the body to function as an acoustic amplifier across the cello’s wide range. If you want to know the cello parts names and how the instrument works, read on before your next cello lesson to get ready! Head and Neck Like …

What is the Suzuki Cello Method?

The Suzuki method, founded in 1945 by violinist Shinichi Suzuki as the Talent Education Movement, is one of the most enduring teaching methods, or pedagogies for young string players. Suzuki’s main goal for his music education system was to give students a “noble spirit,” which would instill respect and cooperation through his method. The method was brought to America in the 1960s by John D. Kendall, and today the Suzuki Association of the Americas instructs new teachers and studen …
