I´ve been playing the electric and acoustic guitar for 19 years, and my lessons are very much focused on exercising the instrument and teaching how to train and get better with your guitar skills.

I teach sight reading, the ability to play a new piece perfectly without any practice the first time played. I also teach the classical go through books learning harder and harder songs each week. I also teach improvisation the cording method the ability to play ez-play music and make it sound like you have been studying piano for twenty years after only a couple of years. 46 years teaching experience with a Masters in Education.

When I came to Bill I had hopes and dreams of having the ability to read and play any kind of piano music. As a child I struggled with reading music during 3 years of lessons with a strict classical teacher, but held on to the dream. I have waited over 50 years to live the dream I am fulfilling now. Bill had me reading and playing any piano arrangement I wanted in 3 months. I play classical, gospel, movie themes and more and loving it all. His unique teaching method inspires you with an "I can do this" attitude. He analyzes who you are, your own style and abilities and raises the bar with every lesson. As I play, he shows me how to enhance my performance with every note. He couples insight with knowledge and his 30+ years of experience to create a true pianist. He tells me I am the composer when I play, own the music. He tells me "don't just play the music, become the music". After 2 years of lessons I am living my dream and preparing for concert level opportunities. Whether young or old (I am 73 years old), Bill can inspire and teach you to play. I often wonder where I would be in the music world if he would have been my childhood teacher. I highly recommend Bill to start your child's music foundation on the right track or for yourself - to live your dream too. Thank you Bill for all you do and who you are!

I prefer the Suzuki piano system in books one through three for their ability to incorporate higher level musicality early on, but also use the Bastien system for learning chords and basic theory.

Where do I begin. Kathleen is extremely patient with me and very encouraging. I have loved the violin for a long time. However, over the years I would get discouraged and quit. With Kathleen, I look forward to our sessions. She's very knowledgeable and I like that she will play along with me and send audio clips that reinforce the place where I struggle. I have learned so much in such a short period. She's a keeper! I'm truly blessed to have her in my (music) life. Thank you so much Kathleen.

Enjoyment and engagement precede technical study— always!

Why are you drawn to this instrument, piece of music, or performance situation? We will study all of the things you’d expect: scales, exercises, études, and repertoire. But I like to think I add more value than the notes on the page. And learning to play an instrument is all about reflecting your joy of playing it to the world! Precision is necessary but first is passion. This is why we always begin with enjoyment and engagement.

I consider the whole person I am teaching. I like to approach playing any musical instrument with the whole mind and body. You’ll learn how to most naturally hold and play your instrument with as much ease as if you were simply walking down the street. Only with ease can we play these instruments for life!

"Super Helpful!!!

I worked with Jillian for about 5 months and she helped me more than I could have ever imagined. After singing in my church choir for more than 3 years, I wanted to be able to start performing solos at mass. While practicing with Jillian, she helped me to develop my voice using creative and fun exercises that I never even knew existed. She created a comfortable environment and helped me to control my voice. As a result, I eventually gained the confidence I needed in order to perform various psalms and songs infront of a packed church. I can't thank her enough for what she has done for me. I'm sure her lessons will stay with me for the rest of my life!"

"We have had 3 months of piano lessons with Tony for my sons, ages 7 and 9. He is a fantastic teacher! Not only have my kids made great progress with learning how to play the piano, they have also made huge strides in their understanding of music. I am thrilled with how much they have learned in a short time! Getting my kids to practice between lessons was a struggle in the beginning, but this has improved over time because they enjoy their lessons so much. I told them I was writing a review for Tony, and asked for their feedback. They said: "He is nice, and kind, and one of the best teachers ever!" "He is patient and kind, he helps a lot, is very fun, and he wants me to work hard, which is a good thing!""

Introduction to Proper Guitar Posture

As a beginner, proper guitar posture is one of the most important beginning steps before you learn about chords, picking, and strumming. Sadly, learning proper guitar posture is often an afterthought to learning to play. Although whether you choose to sit or stand has little effect on your tone or technique, proper guitar posture is important for many other reasons. Why Is Proper Posture Important? Proper guitar posture makes the work of your hands and fingers easier, conserving your energy. …
