Learning piano at a good, steady pace

I thought a long time before I started piano again at the age of 67.
It has been over 40 years since I touched a keyboard. However,
Cheryl has made each lesson not only fun but she has been a very patient teacher. I recently extended my lesson time so I could benefit even more from her knowledge. I look forward to my weekly lessons and my practice time at home. I would recommend Cheryl to anyone no matter your age.

What a great experience! I like Ray's approach and his willingness to share no nonsense remarks about his expectations. Yes, practice is key to becoming a good banjo player. Imagine that!
I appreciate the fact that Ray was so open in sharing the fact that many of his students underestimate the importance of regular practice. I whole-heartedly agree. Since we share the same philosophy and approach, this is the start of a great relationship. (Can't give it 5 stars though, solely because of the traffic. The lessons are worth the trip!)

My Banjo Lessons

Ray has already helped this 47 Year old kid to make large leaps in my understanding of music theory and my instrument. I really appreciate Rays knowledge of music and his ability to break it down so that anyone can understand and put into practice the knowledge gained very quickly. My hour lessons go so fast that I wonder where the time went.

Ray has been very flexible to this student and has been very accommodating to all the questions I have. He is patient and will go over anything again until you understand the lesson.

I Highly recommend Ray to any level of student all ages just starting out or someone who wants to gain more knowledge with the instrument you have.

I appreciate what he has taught me so far and am very excited to see where this journey takes me.

My 4 year daughter has been taking piano lessons with Heidi since she was 3 yrs old. It is amazing how much my daughter has learned from her. My daughter has become confident and independent reading music and playing the piano. My daughter enjoys and respects Heidi so much. I would not recommend any one else if you are looking for a great piano teacher. She is patient, very positive, talented and great with children.

My 12 year old daughter has been taking flute lessons for one year with Heidi and she loves her and has learned so much. The progress she has made in the year is amazing. Heidi has a wonderful demeanor with her, she is patient yet challenges her. She tailors her lessons to what she is doing in her middle school bands and also uses outside resources. Heidi is clearly a very accomplished musician and her passion and enthusiasm for the flute is passed on to her students. This is definitely a quality to have in a teacher for this age group. The online class is so convenient and Heidi is very tech savvy and assists myself and my daughter in this area as well when needed. Heidi is very dependable and flexible if a lesson has to be changed. I highly recommend Heidi as a flute teacher, we couldn't be happier with our experience with her.

Heidi is one of a kind. Together we brought music from a two dimensional piece of paper and turned it into a four dimensional masterpiece. Overall she has taught me how express myself through music. She is the best, out of all three teachers I've had not one of them have opened my eyes to the wonders of music until now. I wouldn't trade her for anything and I'm extremely fortunate to have had her fall into my musical career.

Melodie B. Fort Worth, TX

About Melodie

Music has been a very important part of my life for a long time. I began taking piano lessons at age 9 and also started as a church musician that same year. Some people would say I was a very fast learner! I was, and still am, very interested in every aspect of music. I began singing in church and school a few years after that. I have played and performed a variety of styles of music but I have the most experience with Christian music, classical, pop and R & B. I am confident that I can teach you whatever style you are interested in! I am currently a high school choral director and a minister of music for church. I also play in a band with a group of my co-workers where we perform mostly pop, rock and oldies. I have been doing private lessons since I was in high school and have ...

Melodie is awesome!
I had never taken a voice lesson before, but she has been so patient and helpful with me, and I noticed improvement even after the first lesson.
She takes time to personalize songs, lyrics, and styles in order to fit my individual characteristics.
She is quick to give encouragement and tell me that something is good, and she also gives feedback to improve in a funny, lighthearted way.
And although she is very modest and humble, I've heard her sing a few notes, and she has an insanely good voice!! Not to mention she also has perfect pitch and is a master at the piano.

We love our teacher my daughter is only 7 and has had 3 lessons and I have seen so much growth in her and enthusiasm. My daughter really likes the way she teaches her because she spends the time with her to help her understand the music and read the music not just play it.

Carl W. Fort Worth, TX

About Carl

As far back as I can remember I have always enjoyed performing music. I can remember during my elementary school years how I would play drums during church service. Some days I would sneak in my dad's closet to play his saxophone. I began learning how to play saxophone in middle school and by the time I was in high school I was learning piano, performing jazz, and composing music. I went on to get a Bachelor of Music at the University of North Texas. I have been performing professionally for over 18 years. I also have taught band for 11 years in Dallas ISD. I enjoy teaching and mentoring other up and coming musicians. It's a joy to see another world open up to them through music. Through my warm and positive personality and experience as a certified music teacher and music ...

I'm a more "Senior" student who decided that learning the saxophone needed to be at the top of my "Bucket List". I recognize adult students can be particularly challenging because they're a bit more rigid in what they want. Carl is the perfect instructor for all ages. First he's extremely knowledgeable, making you confident he's leading you down the right path. He's has so much diversity in both instruments and styles that he's able to accommodate anyone. With this, he has been able to tailor lessons, mixing the basics with my desire to learn popular jazz tunes. He's picked up on the fact that I'm an engineer and have to understand everything I'm taught, so he's included music theory that makes the lessons, steps, and songs take on a more complete meaning (and improving retention). He's extremely patient and encouraging, as some of my lessons are after very long and tough work days; yet, he knows how to challenge you to ensure continued progress. It's coming up on a year that he's been my instructor and he’s made me so confident I'll stick with playing, that I upgraded to a professional instrument. Superb instructor.

I've been playing piano by ear since about 2 years old, so taking piano lessons was always a challenge for me because I'd often had teachers who I felt didn't understand how to balance my musical ability to play by ear with music theory. I started taking lessons from Carl about 2 years ago in hopes to develop my piano skills, and I am very excited with the progress I've been able to make in such a short period of time! Throughout my lessons, Carl has been nothing but patient and encouraging. He is very knowledgeable whenever I have questions. Carl also has helped me gain a better appreciation of musical theory. As a result of having lessons with him, I have been able to play piano at various Sunday morning worship services with confidence, something I was NEVER able to bring myself to do before! I highly recommend taking lessons from Carl. He's a great teacher with tons of experience and talent!
