*** Lesson Details ***
I am a very laid back instructor, though the classes are very well structured.

Usually, we progress with a chosen curriculum according to the students music vision and initial overview during the 1st few classes. However, all curriculums are supplemented to enhance student performance and comprehension. Our supplemental material is used to go swifter for material that you grasp well and understand, and slower with more repetition for that that you need more practice, without being monotonous. It is also used to provide appropriate but exciting reinforcement of all material to ensure that material is retained.

We are forever updating material and also incorporate games and enhanced activities to keep lessons interesting and refreshing as well!

I also have experience in music therapy, teaching autistic, ADD, ADHD and those with varying degrees of brain damage.

It has been difficult finding an instructor who can work with my granddaughter, age 4, who can captivate her attention and encourage her to release her inner talent for singing. She just started for the first time singing and has since been singing solo in church in front of the congregation three times and Ms. Barbara has her set up for a recital this month at a new location.
GOD BLESS YOU, MS. BARBARA!!!!!!!

Barbara is a very lovely, talented, and honest woman. She is professional and gifted working with young children such as my granddaughter only four years old. She made her feel so comfortable and on the first day, made her so relaxed that she cooperated with the lessons taught through play. It is obvious that she isn't in it for the money, but for the imparted gift of talent she possesses. to her clients. I'm looking forward to the next lesson for my granddaughter. I will do my part in reinforcing the lessons at home to get the best she gives for my granddaughter.

Ray M.

Arlington, TX

About Ray

Born in Arlington, Texas, I began playing guitar and bass guitar in high school. After studying for several years under Joey Faust, I studied Jazz, Classical Guitar, and Music Theory at TCC in Fort Worth. I began teaching in my free time to friends and family in 2003; by 2008 I was teaching full time, my students ranging in age from 3 to over 70. I also play piano, mandolin, banjo, ukulele, and auto harp.

*** Lesson Details ***
I believe lessons should be fun, so all lessons are tailored to the individual student, based on the student's interests and goals. Students are free to progress at
their own pace, and to choose their own learning material. Styles and techniques include Rock, Country, Blues, Bluegrass, Jazz, Shred, Slide Guitar, Classical Guitar, and Slap Bass, to name a few.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons in my home studio are definitely more beneficial to the student, because I have all my toys here! Besides having all of my other instruments here for demonstrations, or being able to freely change between electric or acoustic guitar for example, I have access to my computer and all of my teaching materials.
I also find that students who are at home (especially the children) tend to be more distracted, whether it's from lack of privacy due to the area chosen for the lessons, or often (again, this goes especially for the kids) there are pets that they like to play with while I'm trying to talk to them.
When they're guests in my home, however, I find I have their strict attention.

*** Specialties ***
I am primarily a guitar player specializing in electric lead guitar and solo acoustic guitar/vocal performance. I also teach beginner to advanced bass guitar, primarily finger-style. In addition I teach slap style bass guitar, as well as slide guitar. I am also a classical mandolin and tenor mandola player. I am currently the director of and first mandolin player for the Fort Worth Mandolin Orchestra.

I think we are pretty high maintenance and picky when it comes to music teachers. We come from a family full of musicians and know that it's hard to teach your own. Carl exceeded our expectations and has personalized his instruction toward our interests and my son's aptitude. We will be with him for a very long time.

Josh L.

Arlington, TX

About Josh

Josh grew up listening to classic rock and country music, but wasn’t focused on becoming a musician in his early years. When Josh started High School in Long Beach, MS, he ended up joining band, where he landed in the tuba section. He learned to read music and play with a group, and his love for music grew even more.

Josh decided to learn guitar, and in his senior year of High School began teaching the instrument to beginners. Josh continued on to study music theory and ear training at Tarrant County College, where he honed his skills of reading and writing music. Josh performed with colleg
e singers as a tenor, and played bass guitar. Since then, Josh has been playing, writing and performing music in pursuit of becoming a full-time musician.

Josh is inspired by his wonderful wife, Becca, and his 2 daughters, Amelia “Bug” and Adrienne "Bit".

Ina is a very upbeat, knowledgeable, and patient teacher. I went to her as someone who had played thru High School, and then not touched the instrument for over thirty years. She started me off with a review of the basics and she is helping me regain some of the skills I had as a teenager, as well as not re-developing the bad habits I had the first time around.
I would highly recommend Ina to anyone who would like to learn the viola - young, or older.

If it is a proper music lesson from an experienced professional, I would recommend to get in touch with her.

I studied viola with Ina for over 2 years. She is an excellent teacher, very patient, encouraging, and extremely knowledgeable. In fact, I managed to get a distinction in grade 6 ABRSM exam and feel that she has taken my playing to a whole new level. I highly recommend her as a violin/viola teacher!
