Brenda B.

Jacksonville, FL

I teach piano to all students and levels, beginner to advanced.

About Brenda

A good musical foundation is important in having a sound piano technique and skill . One should be able to learn theory and methods easily with me. However, it is interesting to note that as my student you can develop your own artistry and technique as well. These are what I hope to deliver as your teacher ---help you learn the theory, skills, technique and method in a fun and casual environment! Remember ... our goal is to learn as much as we can in every lesson and try to throw any questions you might have during the class. It will be greatly appreciated. To let you know more about myse
lf, at age 5, I started playing the piano and went on to finishing Piano Pedagogy from Saint Louis Music Center and B.S. Mass Communications from Saint Louis University . My career as a music educator started when I taught piano at the Yamaha School of Music. Ten years of classical training me has helped me attain this rewarding career. As a child, I have had the opportunity to be a “finale” performer and an accompanist to many choral groups in school. My musical experiences also include performing in “Café Vasilici”, San Leandro , California , where I can play all styles especially classical music. The ability to sight read is just one of the many endowments I can teach. Others include, an impeccable love for music and a good ear for music.

*** Lesson Details ***
Have you ever started playing piano but got stumped and frustrated with the theory? Then you've come to the right class. I will teach you the keyboard skills and fundamentals you will need to become a successful pianist. I will provide you a step-by-step explanation on how to play the piano. If you need help with the written theory and you want to learn more about how to read and write notes, all you need to do is to enroll in my class. My instruction includes activities that will help you use the musical alphabet to read and write notes on the staff, identify intervals, and write sharps and flats. Not only will I emphasize note reading but I will help you develop a keen intelligent understanding of the musical notes and alphabet. In no time you will be playing the piano or keyboard and most especially read and play any music as you appreciate it!

It takes time and effort to learn how to play the piano and not all are expected to become wizards at it. For the most part, students should practice the piano/keyboard more often than not and just keep up with the course requirements when enrolled in my class. It takes enthusiasm, interest and most of all perseverance to play the piano however, with me you will succeed and be driven to become a good and skilled pianist!

Unprofessional and Unreliable

We scheduled Brenda for our daughter to come to our house. She never showed up, did not pick up her phone or responded to my text. She called back a couple of hours later and said she forgot. Ok, things happen, I get it. We rescheduled her to come again, this time she assured us she will be there. On that day, NO SHOW again. No call, did not pick up phone, did not respond to text. NOTHING! I received a text back a day later saying she cannot teach my daughter. Don't waste your time with Brenda B.

Shalini M.

Jacksonville, FL

About Shalini

Thank you for considering me as your teacher!

As a music instructor, I have been providing private piano and voice instruction for over three years. As a musician, I have been a private piano and voice student for over 15 years. Before moving to Jacksonville, I was a Music Enrichment Teacher at a special needs school, using music to help children meet their developmental milestones. My educational background is in Family Relationships and Child Development, so you can trust my teaching style to be a nurturing and fun environment that your child will love. I can teach beginners to advanced,
classical to jazz - just let me know what you want to learn, and we will learn it!

For you older beginners, there's no better time to start learning than now! Many of my past students started after the age of 30, and they have excelled into amazing musicians before hitting 35.

Regardless of your level, age, or background, I can assure you I can help you reach your goals. After seeing what an amazing teacher did for me as a kid, I'd love to share that same passion with you.

NOTE: While a background check has not been completed through this website, proof of a background check can be provided to you. I am currently working as a social worker for the State of Florida, which requires extensive background and information checks.

The development of the piano lessons will depend on the level, goals, needs and available time of study of each student. Starting with board exercises that will provide independence and strengthen the fingers of both hands, studying at the same time the rhythmic figures, elements and symbols of a score.
I propose a flexible program to keep students excited and motivated, the idea is to make a diverse and entertaining class, although it is important to consider that the piano is a very rich instrument (rhythmic, harmonic and melodic instrument), which gives us many possibilities, but that requires constant practice to achieve a beautiful sound.

My first lesson with Frederick was great. I'm an intermediate player and he started me off with good discipline exercises. He is a doubler on clarinet and flute and that is what I want to do. I think he'll be a good coach.
