About michelle

Hello Students!
My name is Michelle and I have been dancing since I was seven years old! I was one of two graduates to earn my Bachelor of Fine Art in Dance/Dance Pedagogy from Columbia College Chicago in 2011. I have since moved back to New York City where I dance for a professional modern dance company in downtown Manhattan. When I am not teaching class, I am busy being a student of my own all over New York City at prestigious studios such as Steps on Broadway, Gibney Dance Center and Broadway Dance Center. It is here where I take daily classes with the country's greatest dance teachers/ch
oreographers to continue my never ending training in dance techniques and developments.

As a working professional dancer, I understand the rigor that it takes to achieve your goals and I work with my students one on one to achieve them! I have had the honor of training with the greatest dancers in the business to help me achieve my goals such as David Dorfman, Joe Goode, Alexandra Beller, Kendra Portier, and Oliver Steele.

Dancing and teaching dance are my greatest passions in life and I want to share them with students of all ages from 18 months to 100 years old!

Thank you for visiting my profile and I hope to teach you soon!
Michelle

Talented and passionate teacher

Michelle is the total package when looking for a dance teacher. Not only does she have a passion for dance and passing this on to her students. She is extremely professional. Her years of experience and study are evident in the way she approaches teaching. Michelle knows how the body works, and is able to explain things in a way that make sense to her students. I always have fun working with Michelle. She is a constant motivator. I feel like a more confident dancer having worked with Michelle. It truly is a gift.

My professional experience consists of various opera and theater companies both domestically and internationally. leading roles in every main-stage opera offered and was also chosen
among two students to represent New England Conservatory for the Marilyn Horne Foundation

Rebecca is also a two-time scholarship winner from the Society of Singers.

A native of Seattle, Washington, Rebecca owes much of her captivating stage presence
to her extensive training in classical ballet, and made her professional debut in the Pacific
Northwest Ballet’s The Nutcracker at the age of nine. Rebecca has also studied ballet, tap,
jazz, and musical theatre at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy
in New York City, and at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota from which she also

I have greatly enjoyed having Rebecca as my teacher. She was very dedicated to helping me improve and genuinely cared about my success. Her breathing techniques were the best I have ever seen. She has also helped display my strengths and add to my love of singing. Her flexibility was also very helpful.

Rebecca Luttio is an amazing voice teacher

Rebecca is an Incredible person to study voice with, She has and inspiringly beautiful sound, and she's really friendly, upbeat, positive, and always enthusiastic about what were doing. Every time I don't understand something, she finds a new way to explain it, and seems to have an infinite amount of patients. I feel like what has changed the most since I began taking lessons with Rebecca, Is the physical training that comes with singing opera, as well as learning how to use your air and broadening your range, which would have never crossed my mind before. I really like that she is a student as well as a teacher and comes to every lesson with new Ideas. For me the couple years we have worked together so far have really changed the way I sing with my whole body, I would recommend her to anyone who really loves to sing.

I had to attend a buddy's Wedding. I'm in my fifties and never been a good dancer. When I attended Wedding receptions two to three decades ago, I would manage to get through the dancing, sort of. This time, however, there was no getting around it. I would have to know how to dance because the woman that was accompanying me to the Wedding and reception was a Dance minor in College! I had a month to get it together so I contacted Michelle through Take Lessons.

Michelle is a patient knowledgeable teacher. She started me with basic dancing steps to “Panda Bear - Doin' it Right .” The basic dance steps that Michelle taught me can be used for virtually all Rock/Disco/Techno music that you will encounter. The tempos might vary, but the steps remain the same. When I became more proficient Michelle taught me line dances such as the “Macarena” and the “Cha Cha Slide.”

When I attended the Wedding reception with the Dance minor, I was confident and comfortable on the Dance floor thanks to Michelle!

Highly Recommended.

Do you want to have a unique, exciting, and memorable dance for your special event ? This is my specialty and my passion, so please contact me if you're interested in having " wow's", "ools and aahs " and thunderous applause at your event. I have studied dance at Pennsylvania Ballet , Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet, and the former Andorra Academy, have taught individuals and couples for their special occasions, and choreographed school productions.

About lisa

I will work day and night to help you achieve your dancing goals. My philosophy is this - " Anyone can dance, Anyone. " I am dedicated, creative, and believe that your lessons should be fun and enlightening. You'll be surprised by all that you can do.
Also my fees are reasonable because I believe financial situations shouldn't determine a person's ability to experience artistic pursuits. Besides, currently my " day job " feeds the bills, while teaching dance feeds my heart.

Lisa is absolutely amazing! My husband and I contacted her just over a week before our wedding, hoping that she could teach us a dance. Neither of us has any dancing background. In just a few days, Lisa choreographed and taught us a dance that wowed our families and friends. Not only is she a fantastic teacher, she is also a wonderful person. She is incredibly responsive and flexible and went above and beyond any of our expectations in making sure that we felt comfortable and prepared. She is kind, patient, thoughtful and brilliant. We can't recommend her enough!

My wife and I always wait until the last minute to do something. We're natural procrastinators but not natural dancers. We hired Lisa two weeks before our wedding to choreograph and teach us a first dance. After only three lessons we had a first dance that everyone loved. It was original and she created a dance that utilized and highlighted our best capabilities. Also Lisa makes you feel very comfortable and confident even when you're starting out with two left feet.

Marlene R.

Astoria, NY

Please note: I teach club styles, hip hop and house.

I have people warm up first, with stretching and isolated moves. I then move on to demonstrating expressive moves that come from the feeling of the music, until you feel it is like electricity moving through your body. I can have you feeling comfortable and confident on the dance floor, or prepare for an advanced performance.

About Marlene

I love teaching people to express themselves in the performing and written arts. I am great with beginners.

I attended Ithaca College’s film program on a screenwriting scholarship. Since then, I've directed and choreographed over 50 music videos including 2Pac Shakur’s last, Amy Winehouse’s “F-Me Pumps,” as well as an award winning indie feature called THE BIG SHOT-CALLER. It was well received by the New York Times and critic Kam Williams gave it four stars. I was selected by FILMMAKER Magazine as one of their “Top 25 New Faces of Independent Film.” I have since written and directed th
ree different comedy web series on YouTube entitled “My Parents Are Crazier Than Yours,” “Angry Gladys,” and “I Don’t Care About the Assholes with Dr. Rita Gatswani.” I am currently in the process of developing two feature films.

I'd love to inspire your writing, acting or dancing.

I have little dance background. Took some ballet when I was a kid but that's all. I watched a few dance movies such as "Step Up" and it inspired me to take up hip hop dancing. I took a couple of group lessons in one of those dance studios but I did not feel comfortable after that because everybody there seemed so skilled. I decided to go for private lessons and came across Marlene's profile. My first lesson with her went well. She was VERY patient! Since I'm a beginner she took it easy on me and taught me dance moves that she felt I would be capable of handling. She plans on teaching me more advanced moves as I progress into the next level. I really appreciate her patience and I look forward to my next lesson. ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND!

Marlene is a great hip hop teacher! She's patient, has good technique, and an outgoing personality. I highly recommend!! So far I've only had 3 lessons with her but I booked a few more so I can continue to grow as a dancer. For practice, I go out to clubs with some friends. Guys notice me more and ask me to dance. I am more confident than ever! Thanks to Marlene!!
