Brigid M. Mantoloking, NJ

About Brigid

I am a 2009 graduate of Rutgers University with a BA in Music and a 2011 graduate of Teachers College, Columbia with an MA in Music Education. I teach trumpet, piano and voice. Lesson Details Each lesson begins with a warmup consisting of scales, rhythmic exercises or short excerpts from repertoire we are working on. Students will learn notation, rhythm, music theory and musicianship, applying this knowledge to repertoire we are working on during lessons. I recognize that each student has different goals and I will focus on achieving these goals during your lessons. I like to encourage creativity by allowing students the opportunity to compose their own short melodies or put a different interpretation on something already learned. Each lesson will end with a summary of what was done ...

Olivia D. Allenhurst, NJ

About Olivia

Music is my passion. I love film and acting but music is where my heart truly lies. I am a new graduate from Berklee College of Music in Boston, but my love of music started long before my college education. I began piano lessons very young but gave that up to pursue guitar. I've also been writing from an early age, anything from lyrics to poems to short stories to screenplays. My poetry was published many times in a US wide book featuring the art of children between 6 and 12 years of age. My father, an artist (mainly painter), encouraged me to pursue my artistic passions and by the age of 12 I was writing some of my first songs on guitar. I took voice lessons over the years as well as guitar lessons and even played clarinet in my high school band. I spent a year in Puerto Rico in my ...

Awesome

Finding Olivia was no coincidence. My 11 year old daughter is so psyched when she has her lessons!
It is in Liv's home, just a 10 minute ride from where we live,it's warm, safe, and filled with talent.
The passion of music is everywhere you look,Daphne and Olivia are
Ike old souls that just jive together perfectly.
Daphne has gained confidence,a mentor, and a ton of fun,
I thought Daphne was on a short lived path,as kids often jump from one idea to the next, but I believe singing is something she will definitely peruse.
I am so pleased with Take Lessons and especially Olivia.

Wonderful!

She is very patient, organized, and makes things fun. She cares very much about what I personally want out of the lessons, and makes steady progress at a very natural pace.

A Great Learning Experience

Learning with Matt has given me much confidence in my singing. His excellent teaching skills gives me more confidence to perform, audition, and has indeed improved my vocal chords. Aside from just learning how to improve my singing, Matt has really been a great help on providing me information that I needed to know about Musical Theater, which I really appreciate his complete advice. With such a positive attitude, he thoroughly explains how to warm up the voice and pronounce every consonant/vowel. I, myself, can hear the difference when I perform songs as well as my family and friends. He is a tremendous teacher and I recommend him to anyone who wants to learn how to improve their singing and confidence.

Working with Matthew B.

Mr. Matthew B. is a very helpful and knowledgeable instructor. He goes through the passages of each lesson with me, points at the most complex areas and asks me to focus the practice on those when doing exercises. I am pleased to have Mr. Mathew B. as my piano instructor.
John S. Toms River, NJ

About John

I am a multi-instrumentalist who has taught for 41 years. I have had both Zakke Wilde and two other rock stars in lessons,. Further, I had a Grammy nominee and a well known comedian and Hollywood Actress, as well as countless music school scholarship students. Many of my students have embarked on performing careers as well as teaching at the school and college level. The lessons are laid back, friendly and above all- helpful. We will study and work on the music of your choice, but, with a slight twist from the traditional, that I incorporate not just playing the song, but to get you the student ready to be able to work out the songs harmony, theory, notation and phrasing on your own. I feel this must be done in order to get a student to be able to perform with others. Lessons should always

The most attentive and knowledgeable music teacher I have ever had. Very aware of student improvements and yet able to make suggestions where they are needed, without any kind of harsh criticism.

John provides all the information - both theory and performance in a very laid back way which leaves the student feeling stress free. He is very realistic as to the expectations of what the student's abilities are now and when "tentatively" they can expect to achieve a level of playing.

He does his job. It is up to me to do mine! Having fun and learning in a very short time. Not easy - but practice, practice, practice.

Charlie has been giving lessons to my son and is the absolute best! He is passionate about music and brings such energy to each lesson. My son is learning how to play jazz from Charlie after being classically trained. It has opened up a whole new world for him.

It great listening to the lessons because Charlie and my son enjoy music so much.

Charlie is the best piano teacher I have worked with. In just two months of taking lessons with him, I have learned myriads of info about music, theory, jazz, blues, and the classics. Being under his tutelage is truly an honor and he is patient with me even when I don't practice (Although I must say he's a real stickler for that). I would recommend anyone to him with a desire for music whether you are 5 or 55.

Charles Clarke is hands down the best, Piano teacher I have ever taken lessons from. His is concise and effective in his communication and I am excelling at a steady rate. Now I am even able to figure out chord progressions by listening to recordings all because he has taught me how chords are constructed. I would highly recommend him to anybody seeking a reliable, talented and professional instructor.
