Singing lessons will focus on breathing techniques, vocal warm-ups and a variety of repertoire appropriate for the student's voice. During the lesson we will also work on pitch accuracy, rhythms, basic theory, breathing, and tone quality. Students will have the opportunity to sing many different styles including classical, pop, Broadway, etc.
I've been teaching both piano and voice for almost 40 years. I taught elementary vocal/general/choral music in our local public school system for 32 years. I added teaching privately about 10 years later. I work with students ages 3 and up for piano, and ages 8 and up for voice. I welcome students of all levels of experience from the earliest beginner to the most advanced. The lessons are largely focused on technique, theory, and developing skills, and can be adapted to incorporate each students goals. I encourage my students to perform in various talent shows, and other avenues as they become available. We have a Recital every May, and all students are guided through the development of their selected music to take it from the beginning stages to having it ready to perform.
I have my bachelors degree in Voice. I teach singers of all genres (country, classical, pop, bluegrass, rock…) to sing with confidence and freedom!
I teach an open throat technique (appoggio) that allows the singer to sing with freedom, and access their entire range evenly. I also work with students to develop style, interpretation, languages, and acting ability.
I've been teaching voice lessons for 8 years and my students have excelled at auditions and contests. Within the first few lessons, you will likely have an increased range and vocal stability and as time goes on you'll be able to follow your dreams. I specialize in Broadway, Opera, and Arts songs. I assign music based on level, ability, technical challenges, and the students likes. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!
Piano is a great tool for a singer and 15 minute beginning level piano can be added to any half hour lesson.
