Castle Rock, CO

About Nicole

I have been studying violin for 17 years and have performed all kinds of music from classical to rock. As of Spring 2016 I completed two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Music and Psychology and two Graduate Certificate in the Suzuki Technique and the Alexander Technique. During my education I was fortunate enough to study violin with Jerilyn Jorgensen and Brad Watson. As well as, perform in the Lamont Symphony Orchestra. I was also able to study violin, music performance, and composition with Carlo Feige, Roberto Andreoni, and Simone Fontenelli in Milan, Italy for 4 months during my junior year. D
uring my undergraduate degree i chose to accompany my music with a psychology degree, focusing on cognition as well as social and child psychology.

Given the extensive nature of my musical training and my great passion for music, specifically the violin, I can offer a student an engaging and instructive experience, that will allow them to reach any goal.

Nicole is committed to teaching a full appreciation for the violin. Despite the fact that my daughter has yet to play a note in her lesson, she has learned a tremendous amount & will be properly prepared in technique, form, tone & overall knowledge to play with confidence. Although my daughter hoped she'd be playing by now, she's become even more motivated to practice now that she understands there is so much more to the violin than playing a song. We look forward to seeing our daughter grow under Nicole's direction.

Michael is great, he takes the time to demonstrate if I don't pick something up right away and he makes himself always available for a question (lesson time or not).

Rachel is an incredibly gifted vocal instructor. I saw great improvements in both of my daughters in a short amount of time, not only in their vocal ability, but also in their auditioning skills and most importantly, their confidence. Highly recommend!

Kevin J.

Denver, CO

About Kevin

I truly enjoy teaching. I've taught in the public school classroom for 11 years. Teaching music is so so much FUN! And it should be fun for the students to learn. When I'm teaching I tell all my students that if they don't enjoy and smile about something, then we need to change something.

I would love to start lessons with you soon.

This was the first lesson. I'm starting from scratch with learning all about the guitar. Most of the lesson was spent with Kevin trying to show me how to tune my new guitar. Then there was a glitch with my trying to download the guitartuna app he recommended, so that didn't work. Little disappointed. By lesson #2, my guitar should be fine-tuned. Kevin provided practice lessons. I look forward to practice practice practice. Kevin was patient, very knowledgeable, and seems like a great instructor to learn from. I look forward to the next lesson.

Kevin is a great instructor. Really enjoying my lessons. If doing them over skype, I would recommend using a hardwired connection and not wifi. Laggy skype connection on my end is the only problem. Kevin's connection is fine.

Ted L.

Denver, CO

About Ted

Hello to my prospective future students!
My name is Ted and I teach in the Denver/Lakewood area. I've been playing cello for 10 years and have experience in almost everything performers are doing with the cello in the 21st century, including: Classical performance, recording, gigging, improvisation, looping and effects, and arranging cello performances of many pop songs.
I teach with a set curriculum in mind that bends to where my individual students' passions lie; no matter what your goal is with the cello, I believe l will be able to guide my students in achieving it.
The biggest f
actor that keeps me dedicated to the cello is how much fun I have playing it, and I do my best to create this passion in my students.

(optional reading)Biography:

Ted started playing cello after listening to a video game soundtrack that had a great cello part in it. After that, he never stopped. Starting as the last chair cellist, he was in an advanced orchestra group by his senior year of high school.

After graduating, he studied under Charles Lee, the Principal cellist of the Boulder philharmonic. There, he thoroughly studied classical technique before transferring to UCDenver as a double major in Cello performance and Audio Engineering. He studies various types of music, pursuing genres like Jazz and Bluegrass in addition to Classical. He regularly performs with independent singer-songwriters and is actively gigging as a studio musician and band member.

Hard work and discipline (not to mention having fun) can create many opportunities for an inexperienced cellist. Ted strives to create the same passion for music in his students that he has enjoyed throughout his career. He employs a similar teaching style to his professors that he has studied under, but also realizes the relevance of the cello to modern music and teaches any genre on cello. He prescribes to the philosophy that the biggest reason to learn an instrument is so that you can eventually transcend it.
