Justin is a brilliant piano teacher. He is very engaging in his lessons and you can always be sure to learn and improve. Justin is flexible to both what you know and what you need improvement on and will quickly stretch to fortify your musical ability. He is never without a smile and never negatively criticizes. I would recommend him for any new students that are looking to learn or improve in piano.

Justin was very friendly and encouraging. We only had half an hour so we discussed the audition piece, warmed up, and focused on some of the trouble spots to see if the song I chose was right for my voice. If your looking for musical theatre assistance, he gives very good advice.

Hello! I am an active operatic performer and teacher, currently residing in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. My mission as a teacher is to help students from the beginner to professional, learn to sing in a fun and enriching environment. I hold a bachelors degree from Millikin University, and have recently earned my Master's degree from Bowling Green State University. I was very involved in the opera theater programs at both universities and have performed such roles as Cherubino from the Marriage of Figaro, Mother from Little Red Riding Hood, Most Fiordiligi from Mozart's "Cosi fan Tutte." Most recently, I was in Austria taking part in an intensive operatic training program for the emerging professional singer, while under the guidance of world renowned Russian baritone Vladimir Chernov.

As a teacher, I believe singing is an exciting journey o
f learning, musicianship and artistry. I have most recently taught in Jerry City, Ohio for Elmwood Jr./Sr. High School, and have also been active for the past six years as a master class instructor for St. Peter's Lutheran Church, located in Ft. Wayne, IN. I am very happy to be working with you!

*** Lesson Details ***
You will find my teaching methods rewarding, enriching and exciting as you grow and learn. Students will be encouraged to take their own individual journey in singing. You can expect to work on diction, theory, breathing, and developing a general healthy technique.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Piano and CD player. There is also seating for parents who wish to sit in on lessons.

*** Specialties ***
I am a classically trained singer and most of my training is in art song and opera. However, I do have a vast knowledge of musical theater literature and I would feel very comfortable in that genre. I am also well versed in choral literature and gospel.

Improvisation skills
Music theory
Repertoire building-Learning Celtic, Classical, Renaissance, Folk, and all kinds of tunes
Arranging music for the harp
Accompaniment skills

And much more!

Anne studied music theory and received her formal music education at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). When the Celtic harp piqued her in
terest, she studied harp techniques from world-renowned harpist Sylvia Woods and later contributed to her book: Music Theory & Arranging Techniques for Folk Harps. Anne is an active member of the American String Teacher's Association.

Take lessons online at her studio in South Lake Tahoe, California, or in in Placerville, California.

FAQs:

Do I need to have any musical experience to learn to play the Celtic harp?

It's not necessary to have any prior musical background before embarking on harp lessons. If you have never taken up an instrument before, Anne will teach you harp technique and how to read music, too. It's a plus if you have some past musical experience, because you'll already know the rudiments of reading sheet music. Anne teaches from ages 7 and up. If your child is younger than 7 and anxious to play the harp, get them started on the piano first. This way, when they come to Anne at an older age, they will already know how to read music (harp sheet music and piano sheet music look alike).

Is the harp difficult to learn?

It's no more difficult to learn than any other instrument. If you really want to learn and you practice, you'll learn quickly. It's all about motivation.

Do I need to own a harp to learn to play?

For online lessons, you'll need to have your own harp. You can also buy a harp from Anne. She uses Triplett Harps as rentals and can help you get started on a rent-to-own harp, and is an authorized dealer if you decide you want to purchase a harp in the future. (Note: Anne only rents to students taking lessons from her in her studio. Rentals are not available to students taking online lessons.)

What does Anne teach?

Anne assesses your goals and your experience before designing a learning path that is right for you. For this reason, her lessons are always one-on-one and not taught in a group fashion. Of course, parents are welcome to sit in on their child's lesson.

What is Anne's experience?

Anne studied music theory and received her formal music education at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). When the Celtic harp piqued her interest, she studied harp techniques from world-renowned harpist Sylvia Woods and later contributed to her book Music Theory & Arranging Techniques for Folk Harps. Anne also studied professional stage performance with Ed Hooks (San Francisco, CA) and at the Living History Centre (Novato, CA). Anne applied her formal training to teaching music for the Los Angeles Unified School District. She continues to work with students presenting educational demonstrations for school assemblies. Anne has given workshops to students in the Sacramento Waldorf School, El Dorado Union School District, Merced Union High School District, and Minden Elementary School. She has taught harp since 1987, offering educational demonstrations, focused workshops, and taking on private students. She performed on the 2015 GRAMMY® Award Winning Best New Age Album, "Winds of Samsara".

About Dave
I own a local music/art/production institution which hosts lessons for many instruments and artistic pursuits. Personally, I've been teaching for over 17 years, and I teach beginner to advanced students in instruments like guitar, bass, piano/keys, voice, and drums, and depending on your needs, our studio offers a variety of professional teachers that teach all woodwind, brass, and stringed instruments.

I also am an online teacher for a the world's biggest web platform for guitar instruction, and teach lessons alongside those in Berklee alumni, Musician's Institute, as well with many very famous artists that are now in the music business.

Though I've had the fortune to work with some of the best in studios, as a songwriter, and player, and in education, both professional and informal, I love to teach entry level players up through
the intermediate levels the most. I enjoy watching people discover things for the first time, and in my teaching I really do my best to craft my lessons to the needs of the students. My primary aim in teaching is that I would cultivate in my students a love for music and learning. With these two things in place, a student can go on to be and learn anything.

Join me and my studio. We'll have a great time, and we'll get you to your goals while we're enjoying the journey of music together!!

About Katherine
Hello! My name is Katherine, and I'm a violinist in the Twin Cities. I look forward to making music together! I believe learning music should combine technique with musical exploration, and I try to incorporate both into my teaching. I base my teaching in the Suzuki method, which emphasizes ear training and the idea that all people have the ability to make music at a high level. However, I am adamant about recognizing each student's individuality and learning style, therefore I tailor my lessons to fit the student's own goals and needs.

After graduating from St. Olaf College, where I was a member of the St. Olaf Orchestra for four years, I moved to France to teach English for a year. Since relocating to the Twin Cities, I have been teaching violin and working in special education at High School for the Recording Arts. In addition to te
aching, I play for the Old Log Theater's production of GHOST, a Cuban band Charanga Tropicale, and in the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra.

About Chris
My first musical language is jazz and the blues, which means I feel all American music, as the blues defines all of our music. I learned my craft from masters such as Marcus Belgrave in my hometown of Detroit, where I played in many Montreux-Detroit Jazz Festivals and toured with the Motown legends, The Temptations. I was always a composer, and that drive dominated the next stage of my career as a classical composer. I acquired a Doctor of Music degree from Indiana University and my works have been performed all over the world. I have just finished a commission for ten saxophone quartets, with premiers all over the nation to start in November, 2017. That much said, I have a deep respect for all forms of music, from Mozart to Miles Davis to John Mayer to Aretha Franklin. All are equally profound! And equally enjoyable!

I spent many
years as college professor, where I taught classical composition, jazz piano, recording, film scoring and recording arts. Since leaving that world, I have been very happily and deeply engaged in gigging, teaching and writing the music that comes from deep in my soul and which expresses all my influences.

My approach to teaching also reflects all my skills, and starts with what you want to do with your music. If you want to develop your songwriting skills, we approach from any angle-harmony, development of basic ideas, or seeing what makes a Beatles or Beyonce tune work. If you want to develop your soloing chops, we can look at the deep traditions of jazz and blues. If you're an improvising player who wants to understand theory or develop your reading, I've got strong qualifications there. If you're a beginner, that's cool too! If you have a passion, then everything else follows with an experienced teacher. Bottom line-if you have an idea of where you want to go with your music, I probably have the experience to help you get there, no matter what the style!

I teach from my home studio, where I have a beautiful grand piano and many keyboards. I usually play bass with my students. I can provide customized backing tracks for you to practice with. I also teach on line. I can provide many testimonials from world-class professionals and former students who are now making a big splash.

For Classical Piano, basic technique, Jazz Piano technique, and Jazz Theory you won't find a more competent, caring and deeply motivated piano teacher in the area. I know Chris primarily as a highly skilled, erudite Jazz Piano player, who is always willing to share his knowledge. Chris is well versed in many styles of play and can help you achieve your goals where-ever you may be at. As a jazz piano player/teacher myself, I would have no qualms about sending my students his way for new ideas, second opinions, etc. I recommend him.

I am a TakeLessons instructor and I took composition lessons with Chris. I thought compositions lessons would make me a better songwriter and producer, but instead Chris taught me that I was a composer first. What I learned not only expanded my knowledge of the fundamentals of music theory but learned how to use my ear and trust my musical choices. I highly recommend Christ. Jonathan taught me when I was around middle school age and has left a lasting impression on how I approach the bass and music 10-ish years later. Under his tutelage I learned music theory, techniques, and all sorts of different genres and styles.

His lessons were always very professional. I always felt challenged, but not overwhelmed, by the material being taught. He also made it easy to be interested in the lessons; he would always ask if there's any song or genre that I wanted to learn and that sort of thing.

Overall, definitely a 5/5 top shelf educator and musician.
