About Paul
Paul M is an American born, New York-based Piano teacher, Vocal coach, Pianist, Composer and Artist. As an educator, Paul is part of The Suffolk Piano Teachers Forum, College Music Society and Music Teachers National. He has been an Adjunct-instructor at New York University (NYU). Paul also conducts master classes and seminars in The United states and South America. For the past few years, he has implemented classes in composition and music history in the coastal area of Ecuador and New York. His music studio in New York City is in high demand. He works with piano, composition and vocal performance students of all levels and styles, which include classical, jazz, blues, Tango, and Broadway. As a Pianist, In 2006 Paul was a prizewinner at the Music Club of Douglaston Piano Competition. For two consecutive years, Paul was awarded The Suffolk County Piano Forum Prize. XLNT Music recently wrote, “Paul is a fine pianist that performs with superb pianism and great sensitivity.”
 His recent public performances include Ecuador South America, Steinway Hall NYC, The United Nations, Faust Harrison Hall, Saint Peters NYC and The Staller Center. Paul has performed with The Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra and The New York University Symphony Orchestra. He has studied with well-known piano teachers including: Martin Canin, Morey Ritt, Tina Dahl, and Anita Gelber. In 2011 he released a record consisting of his performance of original compositions for solo piano that is available in bookstores and on iTunes.
As a composer Paul has composed music for the feature film Documentary Between the Shades, directed by Jill Salvino and premiered at the Soho International Film Festival in 2017. In 2014, Paul was the composer for the radio show Ackerman Associates Meets Dracula written and directed by Peter Stass. In 2014 he wrote the score for, Lies People Tell, a short film that premiered at the san pedro film festival. In 2011, he released his first solo record Succession of images, a song cycle for solo piano. In 2017, he released his second record Hope, a chamber music work recorded with clarinetist Thomas Piercy and Violinist Patrisa Tomassini. Recent public piano performances of his music include Ecuador in South America, Steinway Hall NYC, The United Nations, Spectrum NYC, Faust Harrison Hall, Saint Peters in NYC and The Staller Center in Stony Brook NY.

As an artist, Paul is known for creating large instillations, paintings and live performing art pieces. From 2014-2016, he was the artist in residence at Spectrum Gallery in NYC. In 2014, he completed the Elevator Time Machine, a large instillation made of elevator parts that responds to sound. He also wrote and produced a 20 minute live art piece called Static in Movement for piano and video. His acrylic on canvas works have also been presented at Spectrum NYC, The Art Bar, The Gallery at Logos and Ward-Nasse gallery.

I am also a composition teacher. I work with composition students from beginner to advance. My composition students, over the years, range from all ages starting at 7. My students, after the first year, have been able to write string quartets and piano trios. My advanced students have entered competitions all over the country and are very successful in their composition practice. Some of their compositions have been performed in famous concert halls and schools.
As a vocal coach, I work with students of all ages. The repertoire that I recommend to beginner students includes Disney, Broadway and classical music. For intermediate and advanced vocal student, I have successfully prepared them for competitions, Broadway and University auditions as well as personal enjoyment.
Most recently I held a piano, composition and vocal recital for my students at the world famous Steinway Hall in New York City. I believe that some students work better when there is motivation for performance activities. For that reason I host these type of events. Students that decide they want to take place in these events perform among all levels. I offer these performance opportunities as an invitation. Each student has a choice as to whether they would like to perform.

For over 25 years, Stephanie has enjoyed success as a singer/songwriter, musician, director and teacher. Beginning her music education at age four, she continued to study piano and voice through college. While attending The Ohio State University, she studied vocal performance and communications.

The last 18 years of her vocation has been as a Music/Worship Director in the large church setting. During this time, she had the privilege of directing and leading adult and children’s groups. She has led a variety of groups including vocal choirs, praise teams, bell choirs, drama teams, instrumental groups and musicals. I received my Bachelor of Music Degree in Organ Performance from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in June of 2010, studying under Dr. Roberta Gary. I have completed all the coursework for the Master of Music Degree in Organ Performance. I will receive the degree in late 2014 or early 2015 after performing one more solo recital.

I began playing the piano at the age of 5, later moving to the organ at 9. I have held a church job since then, working in multiple different denominations and settings. I have a strong background of piano, accompanying, theory, sacred liturgy, and musical performance. I enjoy studying and listening to many genres of music as well as performing them. I am very interested in historically informed performance and understanding different techniques as they are related to the composition style of
different time periods.

I enjoy working with students of all ages. Regardless of your ability, age, or experience, I will work with you. We can work out a plan for lesson times, intensity of practice and work, and tailor the lesson to the right pace for you.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons tend to be tailored to the needs of individual students. I am not as much a fan of a strict curriculum that I use on each student. For beginners, one can expect to be given method books to get them moving in the right direction. As one advances, we eventually move on to repertoire. I take an approach to lessons that emphasizes total body awareness and high level mental awareness. The most important thing anyone can learn in music is that it isn't just about the right notes; it isn't about the right rhythm. It is about the complete musicianship and the complete awareness needed to truly understand and perform a work of music. In order to make this approach work, my strictness as a teacher varies depending on the level of devotion the student is willing to put forth. After six months with me as a teacher, expect to notice changes in the way you see music and comprehend your technique at the keyboard.

I expect students to purchase their own music. For beginners with method books, I have these available to the students to purchase from me.

I am very highly trained in performance practices of the Baroque era, especially on the organ. I am also very specialized in body movement and efficient keyboard technique. I have enjoyed working with Victor. He is very knowledgeable about the music in particular the Baroque period. He brings a very good perspective that has enriched my understanding of early music. I can say clearly that one leaves sessions with a desire to learn more and with an understanding of music as serious branch of human study rather than something that is simply fun (in the sense of being mundane amusement).

I have been playing guitar since the age of 9. I have studied Classical, and Jazz at CCM's Prep Dept. in middle school and throughout high school as well as rock, folk, country etc. with other local teachers. I started teaching lessons at the age of 18 in local music stores and have never stopped. While doing this I attended The College of Mount St. Joseph where I studied Classical and Jazz guitar as well as Music Ed. In addition to my 22 years of private lesson experience, I have 2 years of classroom experience teaching general music in elementary schools. I cater my lesson to the individual. I like for students to have
a structured practice routine and working knowledge of music and their instrument, but it has to be fun. I have students who learn Classical, rock, and Jazz. Each lesson is different. Some people just want to be able to play their favorite songs by a camp fire, and others want to go on to perform at Carnegie Hall. I enjoy teaching both lessons and put forth the same enthusiasm for each one. You get out of the guitar or bass what you put into it in terms of learning and practicing. The level of achievement is up to you, I will help guide you to meet your goals regardless of how large or small they are.

I have a professional keyboard. I also have basic drums and drum pads for drum students. I have mallet percussion instruments such as a vibraphone, sticks and mallets. Patricia is an AMAZING teacher.

Personality: She is very welcoming, warm, funny and just a positive person to be around which bodes very well when it comes to learning and stepping outside of your comfort zone.

Knowledge: Just by looking at her credentials you know that she has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to music. However, her greatest gift is being able to relay all of that information to someone who may not have a very strong musical background. She is also very adept at making connections making the learning process fun and understandable.

Lessons: I have been taking lessons with Patricia for months now for voice. The greatest part of the lessons are that she does not only focus on improving your voice on a technical level. She helps with mental preparation, ear training, music theory and great deal of other things which helps students to become more well rounded. I believe this also helps students to grow in their area of study much faster.

Misc: Patricia greatly encourages her students to perform. If you are not comfortable going to an open mic, Patricia hosts a performance event for her students. This provides a safe and secure environment for students to express themselves an apply what they have learned in lessons.

I recently performed and while nervous the mental preparation that I described above helped me to "put on a show". I will continue taking lessons with Patricia and I am grateful for everything I have learned and experience in my time.

I have worked with her teaching three year old beginner drum group classes, all the way to masterclasses for college students at CUNY on techniques to use when improvising in complex time signatures. Kyle is a great teacher. My grandson Franklin has trouble with paying attention, but Kyle was great when it comes to keeping him focused and interested. He has been with Kyle for close to a year now, and even though he is only 8 years old, he has learned a lot! I would highly recommend taking lessons with Kyle. He makes both grandparents and students happy and, my grandson looks forward to lessons every week with him.

My son's first 2 lessons with Katie were very positive experiences. Katie is patient and kind and very efficient with the lesson time. As a beginner, there is much to know just to get the proper sound out. When my son's tone is not quite right, she tries to problem-solve with him to ensure proper technique, use of the reed (or simply, how to correctly put the instrument together). Katie knows how to use the video screen effectively so that my son can clearly see her fingerings. She has provided him tasks to work on in between lessons and is willing to help him with his school band music. She has even offered to be available to answer questions in between lessons. This is our first experience with online lessons and it is as good an experience as it can be when not in person. We highly recommend using Katie if you are learning bassoon.

I was raised in a family that has a tradition of passing the art of music down from generation to generation. I began playing at age 5 and I play 5 instruments professionally and 15 instruments in all. I studied music at Morehead State University and Musician’s Institute. I've been a touring and studio musician since the age of 16. I have been teaching music for more than 35 years. Many of my alumni have gone on to become professional musicians and teachers themselves. My approach to music education is somewhat unique, although it is gaining popularity in the mainstream of music education. I view music more like a language, as opposed to what some have called more of a data entry approach. Don't get me wrong, reading music is important and I do it everyday, but your music lessons should be teaching you how to play a
n instrument, not spending the majority of your time in learning to read right out of the gate. Yes there basics you must learn, but when you were a child, you didn't learn to read as you spoke your first words. You were learning to speak your language long before your learned your ABC's. There are many musicians with little formal training who play an instrument so well you'd swear you can see smoke coming from their fingers. Let me tell you, they weren't born that way. They learned to speak the language of music. The fact is, it's so much easier to learn to read music, after you have a basic understanding of how to speak the language. So say good bye to the frustrations of banging you head against the wall with the complexities of reading music and wondering how much longer you're going to have to endure this ongoing torture before you learn to play something cool, and say hello to having fun while learning how to play an instrument and the songs and styles you want to play...

You may have studied music before and given up because it was too difficult. Please know that's not uncommon. But I’m here to tell you, there is a better way! So if you've ever wanted to learn to play an instrument or sing, there is no better time than now.

Shon is a gifted multi-instrumentalist. Who has toured with Janet Jackson and Bruce Springsteen and many other artists. That combined with countless hours of studio recordings in L.A. Studios as a bassist, and countless other studios around the country. Shon is the consummate professional. Not only does he bring years of real world experience to everything he does, but he is also personable and great to work with on a project or a live performance. He's studied with Abraham Laborel, John Pattucci, Victor Wooten, and even has a bass given to him by the man who assisted in creating "the pocket" in Toto the late Mike Porcaro. He is a close friend and I am consistently inspired when I get to play music with my brother. You won't be disappointed. An investment worthwhile.

Shon is one of those rare talents, who is able to patiently distill difficult, complex concepts into easy-to-grasp, digestible portions that clarify them to crystal clarity almost instantly in a student's mind. A true "musician's musician," any student at any level will find great benefit from Shon's instruction, be it in guitar/bass (and other plucked instruments), piano/keyboards, drums, theory and composition or arranging. A great instructor, a consumate musician and an overall great guy! I could not recommend Shon Morgan more highly (or I would)!!!

Shon worked with my son for several years as his guitar teacher, as well as coaching him on song writing and vocal training throughout high school. He also helped him take some of his original songs and record them in his studio — talk about going above and beyond! I couldn't speak more highly of Shon. His knowledge of all styles of music, his teaching ability, and heart for his students truly make him one of a kind!

Hello! I am about to go into my senior year at Miami University as a Music Major with a focus on vocal and general music education. I have been trained in singing for almost 8 years now and have experience with music theatre, opera, classical voice, and choral performing. I can help students with a variety of goals to performing/ auditioning or music theory, aural skills, and music reading. I have worked with all ages from kindergarten to adult and will gladly work with any age! This past year I had several vocal students and even helped one prepare and audition for the voice department at Miami and they were admitted. In the past few years I have had multiple teaching opportunities through music education courses and also at a local church.
My focus for students is to encourage musical and performance excellence: proper singing t
echniques, learning to read music, and creating characters for repertoire. My approach to teaching voice is different for every student and what they need. But I will challenge every student to always do their best and improve after each and every lesson.
