I love teaching people how to play songs they enjoy! I'm not too focused on music theory, but am more interested on giving you the tools to play your favorite songs! Playing guitar doesn't have to be difficult or boring. Whether you want to play the Beatles on an acoustic guitar, learn your favorite Metallica riffs or even learn the basics to play at church...I'm your teacher!

Fun, supportive, and thoughtful- lessons with Ian are centered around learning classic and modern songs from the very start to build excitement and momentum. For the new student we begin with Familiar Riffs & Melodies, tunes you know from the heart to help break the ice and build finger strength/calluses. Chords are introduced slowly yet smoothly into songs with lyrics to help memorize the progression. Intermediate levels learn how to effortlessly navigate the guitar's fretboard with good ergonomics, as well as exploring interesting chord shapes and groove based strumming patterns (think John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz). Theoretical knowledge is presented easily and without stress, with the option to explore further if interested. As a wise teacher once told me, "It's all just letters and numbers."
I am a singer/songwriter also for those interested in learning about composition and lyricism.
About Ian
Growing up in the 90s I actually began my musical journey as a drummer. At 11 years old I was in a 3 piece rock band playing tunes by Green Day and Blink 182, opening up for my dads band at summer parties and learning tons of songs. Everything changed one day when my guitar player came over with a

I am a Board Certified Music Therapist and my approach to teaching lessons is probably a little different than your typical teacher! I like to use preferred music as a positive reinforcer to engage the student.
I'm also experience in adapting music lessons for the student with special needs. I've taught students with cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorders, ADHD and more. I love music and I love sharing music with my students!

I have been teaching guitar for 10 years. I specialize in working with beginners, and love to work with children. Whatever style of music you enjoy, I want you to start learning songs right away and having fun. Then we can see how those songs are built, learning musiv theory to broaden your musical horizons.
About Kellen
I believe this is a great time to be a musician. I have come of age as a musician in a time when music making and the music industry have shifted dramatically. There are many positives in this shift, with new oppurtinites opening up for musicians. I also see these changes not being addressed in

Easily the best music teacher I've had. He doesn't just solely focus on music and teaching what he's been taught. He makes an effort to get to know his students and teaches them based on their musical taste and preferences. Very versatile teacher/player who can teach (and play anything) from simple melodic riffs and solos to very technical and complex licks. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking to get lessons. Music aside, just a genuinely good guy."
