I teach from the earliest beginner through adult. My violin students are currently performing for different schools and ensembles. When students are performing with orchestras, much time is spent working on that music as well as their regular music.
I have a degree and certification in violin and piano from the Boston Conservatory as well as a Master's Degree from the University of Maryland. I have had additional training and certification as a Suzuki teacher from The Suzuki Teacher Training Institute. I am a member of SAGWA-Suzuki Association of the Greater Washington Area as well as SAA-Suzuki Association of the Americas. I have played all around the world including the Vatican, White House, Paris, Russia, England and Wales as well as in Concert Halls such as Carnegie Hall and Kennedy Center. I have taken students with me to perform as well in these countries and also every major concert hall in the Washington, D.C. area. I give my students opportunities to perform whenever there is an opportunity. In addition I work with students to earn music scholarships to private school
s and colleges. I am also a judge in the Young Artist Award in Maryland. In addition, I have received two White House awards for my performances at the White House, I am also a member of Psi Chi International Honor Society.
Music has been an important part of my life. It represents so much that is good in life and I do my best to communicate this to my students. I am training my students not just to be musicians but to love music for life.
*** Lesson Details *** I treat each student as an individual since everyone is different. For some I might use a traditional approach, some just the Suzuki approach and others a combination of techniques. Whatever produces the best results. My goal is not to make strictly classical musicians but to train students to love music and carry this love throughout life. My repertoire consists of everything including traditional, Suzuki, Disney, Showtunes, etc. I have taken students to perform little concerts at the White House, schools, hospitals and concert halls to get the real feel of performing. I view lessons as a three way relationship between myself, the student and the parent so that the parent is not left out. I even have a small group called Musical Magic which incorporates magic into music. I feel I am laid back but am able to accomplish my goal through positive reinforcement. Every child or student wants to feel good about his/her playing. If you believe in yourself, anything is possible. If you want online lessons, please contact me through Take Lessons since I have additional availability to teach online. In the past six months my students have performed for the National Humane Society at their animal ball, a multi teacher recital on a local stage, and just two weeks ago seven of them performed at Strathmore. This summer I have two more concerts planned. Coming up will be an all instrument graduation with several other teachers where students receive medals for their performances. No student is required to perform but if they want to the opportunity is there. All students are required to have an instrument prior to beginning lessons. If students need to rent a violin, I will provide you with the name of a violin dealer that both rents and sells string instruments. Piano students must have a piano or keyboard.
I have also started a toddler music appreciation program geared for the 1-4age range. The purpose of this program is to expose very young children to the fun of Music through instruments, songs and play.
*** Studio Equipment *** I teach at home and have both a grand piano and electric keyboard in addition to a harp and violin.
*** Travel Equipment *** When my students have to travel to perform, I make sure they have everything they need.
*** Specialties *** Traditional and Suzuki approaches for both violin and piano. I also teach children with learning disabilities.and have extensive summer programs to help students with auditions for youth orchestras and school orchestras. At this point in time I am only accepting beginner to intermediate level students.
Diane has a profound love for children, at least my 7 yr old son. She is so sweet makes learning very easy. She even teaches me along with my son at his lesson. We love Ms. Diane!

Ms Diane is a wonderful violin teacher for my 9 years old
daughter. It has been three years since we started and my daughter always enjoys her lesson. Ms Diane is very patient, positive and a great listener as well.

Diane works with my teenage daughter and she is absolutely wonderful. My daughter loves the way she teaches and enjoys each lesson.
Lessons are fun. My philosophy is that students should have music in their lives and benefit from the lessons they take now for years to come. Learning to play a musical instrument will help students with math skills, study habits, and develop a skill that will last for a lifetime.
After 3 months students will understand the fundamentals of their string instrument, know how to care for their instrument, warm up properly, be able to read and play introductory passages. After 6 months the student will have learned basic music theory, how to read music, and have advanced through playing multiple songs.
Music is the biggest passion in my life. I love being able to share that gift with my students, and look forward to their progress as much as my own. I continue to grow and develop as a musician, and love connecting with people through music. My students all learn to love and appreciate music, theory and performing as I share my knowledge and expertise.
I have degrees in Violin, Viola and Vocal Performance, that I earned while on full scholarship for music. I started violin as a young child with the Suzuki Method and later added viola. I began singing professional gigs while still in high school, and was the youngest member ever with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Chorus at 17. I also have extensive experience singing in non-classical groups and bands and am comfortable performing and teaching musical theater, pop, country,
opera, operetta, and church music. With solid vocal technique my students are able to cross genres with ease, and sing whatever inspires them musically.
I currently play as a principle violinist with the La Jolla Symphony, and have also played as a section viola for the LJSO, sung with the San Diego Master Chorale and the San Diego Symphony. I was concertmaster in several symphony orchestras and have played as section leader for viola in numerous groups. I also play in and manage a string quartet and am also currently coaching small group string ensembles. My siblings and I have played in our family string quartet for over 20 years, and still perform together. Most recently I was chosen to record a new song Glow for Disneyland's California Adventure World of Color Winter Dreams.
I am comfortable teaching with various different methods, and cater lesson plans to the individual student. With over 18 years of teaching experience, I have taught students that vary in age from 3 to 75 years old, and am very comfortable with teaching children and individuals with special needs.

*** Travel Equipment *** I have a violin and viola that I bring to assist in teaching lessons. I expect that the students provide an instrument and their books. A keyboard or piano is essential for voice students for vocalization. A student need not know how to play piano in order to take voice lessons.
*** Specialties *** Vocal students are encouraged to pick songs from whatever genre sparks their interest. With violin and viola I use the suzuki method of training and follow the books and lessons, I use other books to supplement scales/technique.
Betsy is a wonderful violin instructor, and we found her sense of play, imagination, balanced with the need to instruct a good fit for our three year old daughter. Thank you Betsy for your patience and flexibility!

Leah had a wonderful first lesson with Betsy! She provided great instruction and made her feel comfortable. Thanks so much!

Betsy was my daughter's viola teacher for almost 2 years. She was consistently fun, nice, supportive, knowledgeable, and professional. We recommend her highly.

About Mark T
I have been playing since I was 4 years old and have been loving every minute of it. I have been fortunate to play and tour with many groups here in the US and in Europe. Over the years I have really enjoyed passing on my knowledge and love of music making to others. I would be honored if you gave me the opportunity to help your or your family achieve their musical dreams.
*** Lesson Details *** First and foremost I am very laid back and that helps my students relax into the process of making great music. Expect your first lesson to be about getting to know each other and getting a firm idea of what your expectations are.
Everyone learns at a different pace and has changing interests. Within the framework of moving you towards your musical goals I create custom goals and lessons for my students.
What does that mean? Well, y
ou can pick out some of your own music, customize the way you practice, decide when you want to move forward with more challenging music and many other things.
I do expect my students to learn several pieces of music at a time and perform so you can share your music. That's what it is all about after all!
*** Studio Equipment *** Music room with seating for parents.
*** Travel Equipment *** None, all students require an instrument to practice on.
*** Specialties *** Electric violin Classical solo Orchestral audition prep Suzuki
Mark is a talented musician and worked very well with my son to help improve and fine tune his viola performance just before he heads off to college. Emphasis was placed on technique and musicality. A great experience ! At one point Marked picked up his electric violin and played a beautiful duet with my son that was amazing!
July 9, 2019
I came to Mark as a senior in high school. I had been playing in orchestras for 7 years up until this point and wanted to see if I could refine my technique before heading into college. Even in my limited time with him, Mark helped me fix most if not all of my bad habits and gave me valuable knowledge to continue learning on my own! He was very friendly throughout the whole experience and was flexible with my busy schedule.

Mark was an excellent teacher! I have never touched a violin before taking lessons with him and Mark, being a very patient and encouraging teacher, went through the basics and had me playing songs in just a few weeks! Mark made going to lessons fun and engaging and I enjoyed going to each and every lesson! If you are looking for fun lessons where you will learn a lot with a very talented, patient and encouraging teacher, then I highly recommend taking lessons with Mark!
My passion for the violin is undeniable but changing lives with this beautiful instrument and bringing the best out of YOU is what I thrive for! I create a fun and exciting atmosphere along with my 16+ years of experience to turn anyone into a passionate violinist.

In 2003 I started playing the violin and became concert master (first chair) in my orchestra from Aug. 2003 - May 2012. During that time period, I performed in an honors orchestra from 2005 - 2007. After graduating high school in May 2012, I continued my passion with the violin by producing music with ...
Hello there! My name is Jaclyn, and I’m an exciting and passionate violinist with over 16+ years of experience owning my position as Concert Master/first chair. In 2012, I began providing private tutoring and before you knew it, my first student became concert master within the first few lessons (also being the youngest grade amongst them all!) Another previous student of mine, started as a beginner and within no time, with dedication and practice, she was accurately reading music notes! These are the moments I live and strive for. Patience and understanding is what my students deserves, as well as specialized work ethics that best suit each individual. I can not wait to start you on your path to success and to accomplish your dream come true!
I’ve created very successful techniques that are educational AND exciting, allowing my stud
ents to understand, step by step, in becoming a successful musician with encouragement, rewards and confidence along with small weekly goals to reach, ensuring that you are progressing everyday. Hands Down the best violin teacher in the Sacramento area! From the flexibility she has with time to the amazing way she teaches. I am a beginner who couldn’t even read music. I told her that was what I was most concerned about. I was able to learn not only to read music but also the background to the music I was learning. To me that was key to learning. Will definitely recommend to anyone that wants to learn the violin!!

I highly recommend Jaclyn. My son was struggling with his practices, she worked with him and gave him the confidence to succeed.
I have probably taught more La State Fiddle Champions than anyone else. I know how to get student started off on the right foot so they don't spend years of frustration. I have seen many violinist and fiddlers alike who simply do not know the correct way to hold the violin in their arms and this lead to frustration. I have the ability to correct any fingering problems that you may be having in a matter of minutes. And yes, this includes the 4th (Pinky) finger.
I first start by teaching fun fiddling tunes to get each student going. They will be playing by the first lesson. Some teachers only teach by ear and other just by reading music which can bog the student down at first. I believe in learning the instrument first and then the music reading.
I do however give complete fingerings for each song the student learns during the lesson so there will be plenty to practice on between lessons.
Also, as an added benefit, I will be accompanying you on the Guitar which is ...
Hi everyone, I am so excited that you are interested in learning to play an instrument! When you take lessons from me, not only will you learn to play music, but you will have fun learning it as well. I will teach you to play the instrument of your choice without actually having to read music. And, you will be playing music from the very first lesson. We will get to the reading of music later if you so desire.
During my 35 years of professional teaching, I have taught hundreds of students to play musical instruments. As far as I know, I have personally taught more La State Fiddle Champions than anyone else. I have even taught celebrity students such as the children from the Duck Dynasty television series.
Because I play somewhere around 15 musical instruments, I have a unique way of teaching music that ties all music together making
it easy to understand. You will find yourself loving your music lessons.
I love to teach by teaching songs and I mean fun songs. We will learn Cotton Eyed Joe, Cripple Creek, Old Joe Clark, Love Me Tender, Amazing Grace, Fire on the Mountain and many, many more. It will not be a chore to get you or your kids to practice their instrument, but you may have a hard time getting them to put it down.
Whether you are just interested in learning to play songs that you know or whether you want to write your own music, I can teach you the ropes. You will have a musical understanding that few have.
Violin/Fiddle students, I can fix any fingering problems that you may be having in a matter of minutes, and you will have complete fingerings for every song that we play. You will have plenty to practice on while waiting for the next lesson.
Also, as an added benefit, I will be accompanying you on the Guitar which is beneficial when it comes to being able to hear if you are playing in tune, and this also gives the feeling of being part of a band.
Guitar students can learn many different styles of playing. I teach Rhythm, Flat picking, Fingerstyles, Country, Rock, Folk, Blues, Classical, and pretty much any other style of playing the guitar.
For all you young Mandolin players, get ready to pick! I will have you playing all the fun tunes So if you are ready to learn an instrument for you or your child, let me know and we will get you playing ASAP!
Wow! Steve, you never cease to amaze me-all of these instruments! Not only do you play them, you teach other people to play them and in different styles of music! But underlying all of this is your lifelong love, and reverence of music and its history. Teaching is your lifelong ambition. Just as important, maybe more so, is your love and respect for the people you teach! You have devoted your life to music! I’ve known you for a long time. You are the “real deal”. I respect you so much!

My sons and I took guitar and banjo lessons from Steve for several years. He is an excellent teacher and is great with children.

I really enjoyed learning from Steve! He has such an easy way to help you learn. Steve taught me many things easily that I had always found difficult to learn and put into practice before, as I wasn't taught the right way. Learning from Steve will be a lot of fun and you won't regret taking his lessons. Because of what I learned from him I was able to make a CD with a friend in a studio. It was a wonderful experience and a lot of fun. I couldn't have done it without him! I am and always will be amazed at Steve's knowledge and skill. I would give 10 stars if I could....literally the best instructor ever!
I have been teaching 18 years. I started at 17 in Ohio to help out the studio I was taking lessons from. I am a disabled veteran who taught music in Japan for years and have settled back in the US. I am also married to a military member!
I am fun, empathetic and straight forward. I pride myself on being able to solve problems with bowing, sound production, tone and intonation quickly and efficiently.
Hello Potential Students,
I am a disabled veteran, military spouse, mother of three children and nature enthusiast.
I studied viola at Boise State University and Psychology at The University of Idaho. I perform regularly with 3 symphonies in the Southeast Virginia area and run a farm. I mostly teach the Suzuki Method for stringed instruments. I am very flexible, fun, empathic and straightforward.
"Speedy is a very patient & knowledgeable instructor to my super active (not always attentive) 8 year old. He has been making many improvements."
"Jake has a keen sense of how to pace lessons, and has a sharp eye & ear for technique. If I had just taught myself through YouTube I might be okay at viol
in, but the quality would be nowhere near where it is today without Jake's help. These lessons have been a good investment and I look forward to improving even more."
"I have been for first lesson at Martina’s studio violin . She is a very kindly teacher, very patient. I think, she can do learn my son to play violin ."
"Was my first violin lesson today, and Diane is very thorough and easy to follow. She is excited about the violin and not just a teacher so I already know
that I have a great teacher. I am so excited about my journey with her!"
"Martina is very skilled at what she does, and she is an amazing teacher. She pointed out all of my strengths and weaknesses at the first lesson, and she a
lways teaches at my pace and not her own, giving me the opportunity to completely learn something before moving on to more difficult things. She is overall a very friendly person who you will feel incredibly comfortable to be around, and she always does the best job that she can to teach me every single lesson. I look forward to our lessons every week, and I am simply amazed by how much I am progressing under her guidance."
"Very good teacher. I understand the problem with my kids when she is practicing, but i don't know how to take care of it. Mrs Yakov did. My girl is a litt
le young, and she do need some patience, Thank you so much."
"Mimi is an excellent and patient teacher and very sweet person. I recommend all to have her as a tutor."
"Very professional and detail-oriented. Learned really a lot about violin over the past several years from her. Would definitely recommend to other student
s who would like to explore the violin world."
"I had the delight of taking small group workshops with Omer at jazz weekends. Aside from being an amazing performer, he is a fantastic teacher - explains
and demonstrates in a very clear fashion, has lots of patience, and stimulates his students to work hard and to want to learn as much as they can from him. Highly highly recommend him as a teacher!"
