I am a highly organized, outcome-driven and motivated professional musician and educator with solid experience in the classroom. For the past 25 years, I have been employed with Amati music academy and seven years on the faculty of University of St Francis. I am very comfortable with all aspects of the current music syllabus, including teaching musical concepts (such as duration, pitch, dynamics, tone color, texture and structure) as well as performance, composition. I am fully qualified, with a Bachelor of Education in Music, Double Masters in music performance and education from University of Nottingham. I am proficient in classical, jazz and Celtic fiddle violin and possess solid skills in piano (grade 8-13) Royal conservatory system. Throughout my teaching career, I have been driven to help students achieve their very best. I str
ongly believe that music has the power to change lives – to enhance the social, cultural and spiritual lives of people, and serve as a profound medium of personal expression. Professional perform experience: The Chicago, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, Three tours with Moody Blues, YoYo Ma etc.... The most important thing I look for in a student is communication skills, as well as talent. I like to nurture students and help identify their individual strengths, which is a key factor in shaping a musical persona that will make its mark both on and offstage. I do not advocate a uniform technique for all students. Physical differences and learning styles are always taken into consideration. Potential is as important to me as early achievements and experience. My goal is to help students become self-sufficient, discriminating artists. I discuss practice techniques often and develop individualized scale routines. I encourage initiative and expressive musicality as well as precision. Above all, music needs to bring obvious joy to the student, regardless of the difficulties.”

I am a native Chinese speaker with a BA in English and MBA in Global Management from Thunderbird. I worked as an English to Chinese translator for 2 years in the Ministry of Commerce in Beijing, and volunteered as an interpreter for the City of Austin. During graduate school, I was a Chinese tutor/language partner for a few of my classmates, all of whom made big progress in their fluency and pronunciation.
I am a native Chinese speaker. I can speak five languages. I have years of languages (Chinese & English) teaching experience. I am certified to teach in public schools in China. I believe interaction and immersion are effective approaches to learn a new language. Learning a new language with a native speaker is ten times efficient than learning from language apps. Lessons are customized. Communicative language and Chinese culture would be prioritized while making lesson plans. To learn a new language, it's not simply about the language itself. The more you know about the culture, the better you appreciate the language.
I have 10 years of language teaching experience. I have learned eight languages and dialects over the years in China and overseas. I started tutoring Chinese students (age 8-16) English and Chinese in 2009 and I founded my first summer camp in China in 2010. Students who had registered for my summer camp increased from 25 in 2010 to 86 in 2016. I've gained very valuable skills and perspectives in teaching, not just as a teacher, but also as a student--students are my teachers too--I've learned there are always places that I can improve and better help them learn languages. Students' "needs" and "wants" are prioritized. It helps students achieve their goals while combined with students' "lacks" in lesson planning. Students should get involved in the lesson planning process.
Interest is the best teacher. When I taught non-native Chinese
speakers (in China, South Korea and the U.S) Chinese, it seemed it stimulated their curiosity and interest to learn Chinese when cultural elements were introduced--such as characters' origin and visualization, historical contexts and cultural traditions. I hope that approach can also bring you an enjoyable experience learning a new language!
To help you be able to use Chinese, our language learning is mainly through interactive and communicative approaches. Talk! Talk! Talk! Please don't be shy. It's okay to make mistakes. Learning from mistakes is also a very effective way to learn a new language. We can make more contextualized dialogues based on whatever textbook you are using now. Or we can produce functional conversation based on everyday topics that you are interested. Lesson plans are customized and they can be flexible.
Ready to get on the boat and sail on the sea of Chinese? :)
Grew up in America (born in Taiwan) for over 13 years and native speaker of both English and Mandardin Chinese.
I have always been a self-studier in my entire life. Being able to learn with just books and your brain is a crucial skill to have! However, I know not everyone (and sometimes even myself) have the discipline and motivation to keep going during hard times. This is where a tutor would come in handy.
I enjoy tutoring (doing it ever since I was in high school for my classmates) and helping other overcome problems that I have encountered myself because it enhances my own understanding and makes me happy that my self-studying is helping others. Sometimes, my students even bring up alternative ways of thinking that I have never thought of before!
I will provide you the learning materials, although you could send me the files that you are interested in learning or need help with.
I am a native Mandarin Chinese speaker from northern China where Mandarin Chinese is born. I graduated from a Chinese university. I also learned how to teach a second language from a graduate school in the US with a 3.9 GPA and scholarships. I have over one year of experience teaching Mandarin Chinese as well. I have tutored school and college students who needed assistance with their Chinese homework, tests, or extra practice, and taught school students and adults that just wanted to pick up a new language. My students' age range from 8 to 80 years old. Currently, I'm studying Language and Learning focusing on teaching a second language. My passion is to be a language teacher. I think it would be awesome if I could help you learn Chinese while doing what I love. I offer online sessions with standard Mandarin Chinese and simplified Chin
ese characters. I will provide you the learning materials, although you could send me the documents that you are interested in learning or need help with. Right now I am specialized in beginner Chinese. My availability can be found on my profile. I am an American born in Los Angeles, CA. I was trained by some of the best Chinese language teachers while at UC Berkeley for my undergraduate degree. I entered into the Chinese Bridge Competition held every year, and was the number one American, Chinese language speaker. I was sent to China where I competed against top talent in almost every other country in the world and took first prize that year. After winning this competition, I continued training at UCLA where I got my Masters in East Asian Studies, so I am also trained in Ancient Chinese. The UCLA newspaper had my story on the front page which can now be viewed online through a search. I have continued using Mandarin on a daily basis and know the ins-and-outs of learning this difficult language as an American English speaker.

"My son had a great time using games/play to reinforce Chinese words and phrases."
"Very nice and pleasant to work with!"
"Excellent teacher. She does above and beyond!!
"My first lesson was very helpful. I’m looking forward to my next lessons. Very good instructor."
"Angela is truly patient and very friendly. Her technique proves to be very helpful."
"HaiBo is very patient! I have been studying Chinese on my own for quite a while, but definitely need help with tones. She goes over and over them with m
e until she feels I've done them right! She is kind enough to put reviews of words, sentences, phrases in the form of flashcards on an app so I can review them over the course of the week. We have needed to reschedule several times and she has been flexible enough to do that for me, too! I have reviewed stuff I thought I knew and have learned new vocab, but most importantly, we have USED that vocab in sentences and I feel like I'm actually improving my spoken Chinese! In addition, I have been working on learning characters with HaiBo and I am surprised how many I know!"
