When I teach, I strive to help students learn the most efficient practice methods and to develop a healthy attitude towards learning music. Your progression on the instrument is what will take you to the next step. Either playing solo and chamber have the same core values: beautiful tone production, fine intonation, pure rhythm, expressive playing, knowledge of musical styles, acute listening, excellent ensemble skills. If you study with me, I will help you master these concepts and techniques at your own pace and help you find your own musical voice through playing the piano/viola.
I look forward to working with each of you :)

About Julia

I have been playing the piano for 24 years and the viola for 17 years, and have been classically trained in both. Since I was 18th I have participated in many well-known music festivals and masterclasses, and have performed in Taiwan, China, Singapore, Germany, Canada, the Czech Republic, Austria,

Julia is a teacher who changed my entire musical journey. I was looking for someone who could go deep into classical music, and at the same time playing the instrument with ease. She is what I am looking for. She helped me to improve my finger technique and shaped my musical ideas. Each lesson was productive while enjoyable.

With nearly 25 years of playing the piano as a student, solo artist, and accompanist I bring this experience with me to every lesson to make all lessons equally informative and fun. Piano lessons are always goal oriented and will include learning proper technique, general music theory including how to read notes and rhythms, music terminology, and it will be paced based on the student's level. This will result in a well rounded musician while still having a fun, fulfilling experience.

Katya has been giving online lessons to my two children, ages 14 and 12, for the past 6 months. Before this, the children received in person lessons from Katya for 3 years. Katya is an excellent pianist and piano tutor. She is patient and kind. She always looks for ways to motivate the different skill levels. She is very talented and sparks in children the love for learning and becoming avid at playing piano. Katya also gave piano lessons to other children from the same school my children attended and they all loved the piano lessons with Katya. I highly recommend Katya as a knowledgeable and loving piano instructor.

From beginner to advanced. Basic fundamentals of piano and technique. Classical and modern/contemporary styles of playing including chord construction and voicing

I like to teach through a series of books by Nancy and Randall Faber, and Arthur's Adult Piano. Each of these are very different in approach so it really depends what your goals are so I can start you on the right books. This also depends on what you want to get out of your lessons. Do you want to learn pop songs? arrangements? Or do you want to learn classical pieces? I ask you all these questions and more at our first lesson to make sure you and I are both happy with the direction we will take.

I love Francisca’s patience, openness and expertise with vocals and playing the keys. I enjoyed our lively and very down to earth session and learning about breath and vocal health. She gave me tips since I lived in a Nevada which is a very dry place and ways I could improve my vocals in that climate.
I recommend anyone who is looking for a straightforward approach to technique to get lessons from Francisca! She is amazing!

What a wonderful experience it was to work with this instructor. Her own experiences and talent far surpasses anything I had expected to experience in an online session.
She has an ability to help me find my voice and I am truly grateful to work with someone with her patience and ability to adapt to my level of learning. She is wonderful for any age group and extremely accommodating to make time for lessons.
I would recommend everyone to give her a try and would guarantee you will not be disappointed!
Jenny
I’ve had such a great time doing virtual lessons with Francisca! It is always so scary and nerve-racking to start with a new instructor, but I immediately felt at ease. Her energy is welcoming and calming, and What I admire most is that she can feel when I’m not emotionally in the song but instead in my head. Thank you for pushing me to break through these vocal cord cobwebs and get these pipes polished!

Heather Ross is a fantastic piano teacher! She is extremely patient, kind, and understanding. She provides a good background in piano history and technic. I have been taking from her for about five years, and have learned more than I thought was possible. I would highly recommend her to anyone!
Allison
I have been taking lessons with Heather for almost 3 years and it has significantly improved my piano playing. I started as an adult learner and was stuck “in a groove” when I started lessons with Heather. She has helped me to learn more technical skills to play piano more efficiently and with more ease. She is extremely experienced and knowledgeable, so if you’re looking for the best, look no further. I have recommended her to my niece, sister-in-law, and mother-in-law. If you are looking for classical and/or hymns piano teacher, Heather is an excellent choice.
Gina
Heather is a very patient and encouraging teacher who seeks to bring out the best in your child. She is always finding ways to better herself as a teacher and to help your child reach their full potential. My child was challenged through her teaching and made great progress. Highly recommend her.

Studying Music? What to Learn in Addition to Technique

Learning an instrument takes a lot of time and practice, but is a process that adds enjoyment and fulfillment to your life. To be a well-rounded musician and take your performance skills to the next level, it is important to take time and learn about the other facets of music besides your own instrument. That's right. Taking music lessons and studying music is critical, but there's more to it than that. Let's look at some of the things you need to learn in order to truly learn your craft. I …

3 Reasons Pianists Should Be Playing Hanon Exercises Daily

Hanon exercises: they might not be the most fun, but they can make a big impact on your progress as you're learning how to play piano! Read on as Saint Augustine, FL teacher Heather L. explains why...   Sure, you could buy a technique book, a book of warm-ups, and a book of "finger-strengthening exercises," and work with all three every day. And some of you may be advised by your teachers to do so, based on your past playing experience and future goals. But if you're a middle-school …

How to Start Your Own Piano Studio: a Guide for Teachers

Teaching music is a great way to learn more about the piano, and also more about  yourself. As an instructor, you will learn how to better communicate ideas and information to others.   The beauty of education is that it’s a two-way street. If there is compatibility, both  the teacher and the student benefit from the exchange. Teaching also requires  adaptation and creativity because no two students are alike. Cookie-cutter methods  just don’t, well, cut it. Individually tailored in …
