I have been teaching professionally for over 10 years. My classes are customized and catered to the needs and goals of each student. With over 10 years of experience, I’ve worked with producers, directors, casting directors, and writers. I know what they’re looking for. Specializing in memorization, audition techniques, script breakdown, character development and visualization techniques, I use known methods to help the actor create their own technique. Classes are fun and dynamic. We’ll explore behavior, speech and movement and how it all relates to the human psyche. Let’s play!

My partner and I just started work on our podcast a few months ago. As complete newbies, we thought we should go to a coach to get a competitive edge. A friend referred us to Melissa and given her experience as a radio and podcast host it was a no brainer. Our first session was mostly just picking her brain. In subsequent lessons, we went over everything from show topics and names to delivery and she even critiqued some of our podcasts. She is very knowledgeable, down to earth and approachable. Just do it you won’t regret it!

I started taking lessons from Melissa several years ago when I was first getting started at voiceover work. She not only helped me pick copy for my demo reel she coached me on how to do different reads. Since then I have been going back to her From time to time whether it’s for a refresher or help with an audition. I highly recommend her in addition to being a great teacher she is a lot of fun to work with!
Josef
I took a few sessions with Melissa to help with my diction. I do training videos for my company. I struggled with pacing and clarity in my voice. A few sessions s with Melissa and there was a noticeable difference. Thank you!

I believe the development and training of an artist is a special, sacred, and important act.

If you would like to find more truth, more humor, and more joy in your work as an actor or performing artist, then I would be privileged to help you along that journey!

As a teacher I have taught around the country at universities as a guest artist and faculty member, as well as with performing arts centers from coast to coast. As a practicing artist, I am continually researching new and updated methods and find this passion translates into my lessons with my students.

I believe in positive reinforcement and building upon a student's current skill set, rather than tearing an actor to pieces, in order to bring about the most effective results, all the while finding JOY in the work!

I have performed as an actor, singer, and musician Off-Broadway in New York, on many National tours, and at regional theatres all across the United States. I find this varied experience allows me to

One of the best teachers I have ever had! Chad creates an environment that makes you feel really comfortable with exploring yourself as an actor. Not to mention that fact that he is so kind and genuine. I know I will be forever grateful that our paths crossed!
Claudia
I have worked with probably 4 dozen acting instructors, coaches, directors in my life, and Chad is the BEST OF THE BEST.
Through several years of working with him, I can vouch that with him you always know what you get: 100% quality, all of the time. He is fully present, meets you on eye level, is kind and understanding, and encourages/motivates you to go beyond what you thought was possible.
Whether it is audition prep, Shakespeare scene work, or general acting skills, there is nobody I would trust more than Chad to help me be the best actor I can possibly be.
Most importantly, with Chad I have always felt completely safe to explore characters, inner movements, and feelings in the process.
The only bad thing I can say about Chad is that he will absolutely ruin you for the next coach or director that comes along, since no one can come even close to his quality.
Katie
Chad is incredible at making you feel very comfortable while also challenging you to go beyond what you believe you can do. In every environment that I have worked with him, he has been kind, generous and inspiring. I would recommend him to anyone (young, old, beginner, advanced) in a heart beat. It has changed my life and my career to have learned from him.

"Jackson's scene study class at ESPA was the first acting class I took after moving to NYC. I couldn't have landed in a more supportive, challenging, and just plain fun classroom. Jackson pushes you to look deeper into the text and yourself to find your way to your best performance. In her class, you are safe to take risks and fail but are never allowed to get away with "good enough." In our class, we had a variety of skill and experience levels and Jackson was able to communicate with and guide each actor in an effective, respectful, and inspiring way. Jackson meets you where you are and always brings you back to the text and the emotional truth of the scene. I would happily take a class with Jackson again."

I have confidence going into any audition now and just signed a multi year deal with Comedy Central that i attribute almost solely to Franks coaching. "Donnabella is a fantastic teacher! I was really having trouble with being confident when acting as well as not sure where or how to start to learn. Donnabella made it super easy, teaching several approaches and techniques that now use when looking at a script. I also feel a lot more confident not just with acting but overall.

She's made it easy to be confident but still challenging myself with every lesson to put farther out of my comfort zone and grow!"

Acting Tips: What's in your Toolbox?

As with any profession, actors have tools. Just as a doctor needs a stethoscope or a fireman needs a hose, there are certain items an actor must keep in their toolbox. I usually start classes or lessons by asking my new students or clients what they think these tools might be. Sometimes, the answer is very literal ("Script!"), and other times abstract ("Passion!"). None of these is a wrong answer. Being an actor or artist is subjective and everyone's process is different and valid. But t …
