Customized creative lessons to meet you exactly where are you on your piano journey. I especially love teaching beginner students. I use many different techniques of teaching to meet the needs of my students. I teach a well rounded curriculum that includes note reading, ear training, improvisation, technique and more.

I'm a very patient teacher and love working with new students, regardless of age. As a high school teacher, I find real joy in helping someone acquire new knowledge or a new skill. I work at my student's pace and am excited to teach on my brand new piano. Whether you're wanting to learn how to read music or wish to be able to play songs by ear, I'm happy to help!

I provide an all rounded, fun and enjoyable piano class for students of all ages.

You will learn
- Everything from famous classical pieces to your favorite pop tunes! Every student is different, so I adjust my lessons and provide customized material accordingly.
- Technical skills such as scales and arpeggios in fun ways as I incorporate them into songs
- At a higher level, you'll learn how to put your emotions and interpretation into the music
- Music theory is a must for students in order to understand how to read notes. I'll even incorporate some songwriting or composition to develop creativity and originality!

A teacher of mine once said if you aim for perfection, you get to be pretty darn good. I like to start with a small amount of material that the student can play very well, and use that to refine the basics. By taking a thorough approach (and playing beautiful music), the entire world of piano and music will slowly and surely open up to the pupil.

In my opinion, tone production and rhythm are the major factors that distinguish a great pianist (and make playing the most satisfying), so this is the major focus of our work. I have a very thorough understanding of proper technique and can prescribe exercises that will strengthen one's weaknesses.

I also have a unique background in that I studied jazz improvisation and classical composition, so I understand the inner workings of the music and can improvise in the styles (jazz, classical, baroque, romantic).

I have been playing piano for over 10 years and teaching piano for over 3 years. I enjoy teaching everyone from beginners to early advanced players. All my classes start with a strong foundation of technique that can be applied to whatever genres of music you choose to play, from classical to pop to movie scores, musical theater and Disney songs. You will learn a lot and have fun doing so!

Playing piano is fun! Music is a part of each of us and we gain so much from music lessons. Beginners of all ages are welcomed and encouraged! I try to match music choices and teaching materials to each student because as an experienced teacher I know that we each have our own likes and learning styles.
