Music Theory Lessons in Lamar. Amazing Teachers.

Each lesson will prioritize you. I will run many examples of topics of music theory and we may even be able to show real examples of it in music, and in the musical instruments you play.

Being a composer, and arranger, I have taught theory to students of a wide range of age and ability level. If you're interested in writing songs, I have a wonderful method and approach to help you!

A good understanding of music theory will allow you to more efficiently recognize your strengths and limitations. It cultivates the ability to hear music more intelligently and teach yourself several instruments. People that can pick up and play any instrument with minimal effort, likely have a very good foundation in music theory. Music theory also cultivates the ability for the ear to recognize context and patterns in music you already know. It is one of my greatest passions and I love to share it with anyone who is interested :)

I studied music theory at the Rhode Island School of Modern Music, at the Mannes Conservatory of Music in Manhattan, and at the Reuben Conservatory, in Jerusalem, Israel.
My background in theory is primarily in jazz, which uses some slightly different terminology than classical theory, but mostly applies to all styles, especially as pertains to beginning theory.

I aim to create a situation where students become enthusiastic and confident about performing the music they learn. I focus primarily on basic fundamentals but I also encourage students to develop and incorporate their own methods of practice.

I received advanced Music Theory instruction during my time in school and am comfortable teaching everything from chords, how to read music to counterpoint, sonata form and Schenkerian analysis.
