This is not a machine embroidery class. Get ready to move beyond the basic cross stitch (by hand). Let me coach you on specialty stitches such as satin, queen, eyelets, Rhodes, French knots and more. Let me repeat, this will not be a machine embroidery class, every stitch will be made by hand!

I've been cross stitching since 1983 and teaching it for over 10 years. Within the first few lessons, you'll learn how to organize your material for easier sewing, master basic stitches, and as time goes on you'll be able to tackle complicated stitches and designs. I specialize in counted cross stitch, but also have experience with redwork, drawnwork, Bargello, pulled thread, hardanger, and canvaswork. Typically, I use The Cross Stitcher's Bible by Jane Greenoff but can recommend other helpful resources. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

Ken has a wealth of knowledge. He offers handouts to review and presents lessons with slides to instruct using actual bridge hands. He provides not only the rules for the game but also the mental steps one undertakes in applying them.

"Lily is an exceptional teacher. She is very passionate detailed, organized, and caring. I am a person that needs a lot of detail and ask a lot of questions and Lily was so paitent with me. Before meeting Lily I felt unsure of my abilities to sew, but with Lily's guidance on how she structures her lesson I was able to grasp what I was learning. I definitely will be registering with Lily for more courses she's Awesome!"

"I am a pretty advanced crafter and not a new beginner with crotchet but I'd been struggling with some pattern reading issues and other things. Erin is a great teacher, starts are your level, and gets you that 1 on 1 time that you really need to get to the next level with your skills. I was a little hesitant to do Take Lessons since there's so much on YouTube and Pintrest, but this is totally worth it!"

"I have really enjoyed my lessons with Florin. It is a fantastic opportunity to take lessons from an International Master, because Florin is able to quickly and clearly explain chess concepts to me in a way that I can immediately use in my games. My game has improved markedly since studying with Florin. He always keeps the lessons filled with good content but makes them relaxing and fun. I intend to continue my study with Florin and I strongly recommend him as a chess instructor."

"AWESOME I so enjoy working with Karen! In advance of today’s lesson, we coordinated re work on a summer shawl Project. We both thought a summer shawl addressing those summer air conditioned restaurants was a good project for folks like me that travel a bunch and need take along projects. With Karen’s guidance in mind, I bought gthe yarn. Then Karen showed me 6-9 different shawls she’s made so I could pick target shawl pattern that wasn’t above my ability and appealed to me. I’m now on my way; 3+Rows in and feeling confident of noteworthy progress til next session."

Chess Openings & How To Start Your Game Strong

As a game, chess is traditionally divided into three phases: the opening, the middlegame, and the endgame. While all three are important, today I’m going to help you start out strong in the opening. When I first learned how to play chess, I played openings that really did not help me improve and left me with an awkward start to the game more often than not. Eventually, I adopted some of the openings that I will show you in this post and my rating skyrocketed. Opening Principles The first …
