in film. He has a Bachelors of Music in Commercial Vocal Performance
from Belmont University (Nashville, TN). As a vocal instructor, he held
a Masterclass of commercial Voice for the Royal Academy of Music in
London in. Michael works with singers of all levels from beginners to professionals.

*** Lesson Details ***
Michael covers all modern styles of music; pop, soul, jazz,
r&b, country, rock, and on and on. Michael works with all levels
of singers, from beginners to professionals, who want to work on
specific areas.

Michael will help you improve your...

Technique- We will help you improve breathing, phrasing, improving tone, projection and develop range.

Artistry- Some singers already have a sense of "who they are" and
have found their "sound" as artists, and others need help refining it.
We'll look at what songs are great for you, (maybe you write your own)
how to style songs and make them your own and even experiment with
different genres.

Performance skills- It's one thing to sing in a room one on one
with a vocal instructor and quite another to be onstage with an
audience with all eyes on you as you stand in front of the mic. How do
you connect with your audience? How do you handle nerves? How do you
talk between songs? Some of these things are learned best from
experience. Most singers are working on their voice because they want
to perform. Michael will provide opportunities for performance
experience for each artist when each individual is ready.

Be an Intelligent singer- Learn how to be ready for an audition.
How to communicate with a band /accompanists. How to know what keys you
need your songs in. Learn about singing harmonies/backing vocals. Learn
about recording vocals in the studio.

This is what one new student had to say about their first lesson with Michael...

"I had SO much fun
this past Sunday, Michael. I already feel like I learned a great deal. You are
such a fun and easy going teacher. Can't wait for the next one. Thanks!"

Michael is the best singing teacher I've ever had. He has done a wonderful job of helping me to reach the potential that I knew I had as a singer.

His unique and innovative approach to vocal warm ups has helped me to find and define my vocal range.

He also happens to be an excellent vocal arranger, having helped me to add vocal accents to my songs that have given them new life.

Thank you for everything Michael!

Michael has been a savior for me, both in terms of expanding my vocal capacity and helping me develop my artistry and songwriting! He is encouraging, kind, fun, motivating and professional. He has truly been a caring teacher, mentor, and guide for me as I move forward in my music career, and has gone above and beyond his job as a vocal coach, taking the time and energy to invest in understanding my artistic vision, and helping me articulate and execute each step along the way. I would recommend him to anyone looking for guidance in a talented vocal coach and all around professional music mentor!Thank you Michael!

Michael is the best! Right from the start he picked up on the weak areas of my voice and we've been working on it since. He goes through the exercises such that I'm singing the way I wanted without even thinking about it. And he doesn't miss a thing. If I miss a note he's right there having me do it over again until I get it right.

He also explained in detail what the problem areas were and how to fix them. Describing with words how to use the human voice is no easy task, but he knows exactly how to get the point across.

I was originally pessimistic about online lessons, but I thought I'd try it since I couldn't find anyone with credentials and experience like Michael's in Atlanta for less than a gajillion an hour. I was pleasantly surprised. I can sing in the comfort of my own home, and it's just like he's right there with me.

Thanks Michael!

About Cristopher
If you feel like you're stuck or hit a wall, I can help take your skills to the next level; I can help you improve your technique, learn difficult songs, learn more about gear and gigs and performing, help you learn how to play any chord, key, or scale in any position, or help you learn how to solo, improvise, or write songs or come up with your own arrangements of other songs. I can help you learn to read/play rhythm, notation, and/or chord charts, or help you audition for school jazz band or rock bands, etc. I can also help you with music theory as well as learning modes and how chords and scales all work together, and how you can use chords to build all your scales and musical ideas off of, making it easier to improvise or write songs.

Whether you want to learn to be a guitar virtuoso or you just want to be able to play some songs
for your friends and family, I want to provide you with the best information and tools to help you accomplish your goals. I believe in trying to get the most out of the minimum - I want you to get the most benefit out of the time you spend, regardless if you are practicing for thirty minutes or for eight hours.

*** Background ***
I have taught guitar lessons for almost 20 years; I also can teach music theory and
composition, as well as beginning keyboards, percussion, and voice. I also gig professionally with
varying bands, as well as being hired to perform for weddings/events.

I began taking piano lessons when I was six years old, but switched to guitar lessons at age ten. I also have a BA in music composition from UCSD.

I can teach all styles of guitar from electric and steel string acoustic to classical/flamenco as well as bass guitar, and I can teach all styles from rock/pop to jazz to blues to classical to country

*** Lesson Details ***
I want the student to have fun with music, but I believe fundamentals are important too. Some schools focus on a "song first" approach, and while I prefer learning songs as soon as possible, I also believe learning some fundamentals will help avoid learning bad habits that can be difficult to break down the road. That being said, I try and be as flexible with the student as possible, as I know we all have different goals and amounts of time that we can dedicate, but I believe that even if someone just wants to learn some basic guitar playing, that a little understanding music theory and fundamentals will help them go a lot further.

Regardless, the student should be able to learn the music they want to play, and I will go out of my way to try and find/learn songs that will keep you interested. I will even transcribe or write my own arrangement if I can't find a suitable one, or to make a simpler version that the student can learn.

I recommend that my students practice at least thirty minutes a day if they want to see consistent progress, although in the beginning they may not be able to practice that much until they develop calluses on the fingertips. Of course, if they can practice more, that would be great, but I understand that with everything else going on, it isn't always possible to practice every day or for everyone to put the same time into it.

ALLERGY WARNING: I have cats at my house, so if you want to travel to my location, it could be an issue if you have cat allergies.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Guitars, guitar amplifiers, music stands, computer/audio workstation for recording and notating/printing music, microphones, mixer, studio monitors, etc.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Guitar, amp when needed, music/paper, possibly a music stand

Dan is a fountain of knowledge; an incredibly talented and eclectic artist. I have been struggling with alto sax for years but with Dan’s approach, I finally feel, I am making some progress. Dan tailors the lessons to fit your needs; making it challenging, comprehensive, engaging and fun. He helps me transcribe small parts of licks I like, which has been an invaluable experience for me. He makes sure that you REALLY get the material you are studying. Don’t just shake your head and say “yes”.
He is always there to answer your questions (no matter how dumb they may seem), encourages and motivates you.

Hi, my name is Ryan and I would love to teach you how to play guitar. I've been playing for over 10 years and have been gigging for a little less than that in my band. Over the years I have gained a lot of experience performing on stage and teaching to people of all ages. If you want to shred, jam, or rock out then look no further. I okay all styles of music and pride myself in building a fun and educational curriculum based solely on you or others who have had similar interests as you. This means if you have a question about guitar or music in general, 9 times out of 10 I can answer it. The remaining tenth is either a well kept secret, or something that is left to be found. So if you're ready to start your journey or just need a guide to help you on your way, let's go!

Ryan was great! He's obviously a talented guitarist and he is very laid back and makes you feel comfortable. He shows you in detail what you need to do to become a better guitar player. My ONLY advice, and the reason he doesn't get 5 stars, is I think he should have more visual aids with his lessons. For example, write down the different scales or transcribe the first several measures of a song. Then, one has something to refer back to when you are practicing and invariably get stuck. Other than that, I would highly recommend Ryan as a guitar teacher!

About Rich
I’ve been involved in music since my dad started trying to teach me guitar at a young age. Instrumental music always fascinated me - how did such beautiful sound come out of those pieces of wood or plastic or hunks of metal?!

In college, the opportunity to study instruments enthralled me! I would spend hours and hours learning how to play every band and orchestra instrument well! The instrument I really grew to love, however, was the piano!

After college, I became a band director for over 25 years. I moved down south to “semi-retire”, though I have continued teaching lessons, working with area bands and playing gigs in my own groups!

Currently, I play brass for an area Latin fusion band, and keyboards for my church worship team.

Even though I’ve been around a while, I still enjoy helping students of all ages find the beaut
y in instrumental music. Music is so much more than playing notes - you will learn that from me as we go!

I pretty much can teach ANY instrument to one degree or another. Musical styles I teach include Rock, Pop, Blues, Jazz, some Latin, and Classical.

I look forward to hearing from you! Bend my ear, let me know what you need and let’s make it happen!!!

----------------------------------------------

Some of what past students and parents have had to say:

“Rich has taught my son (9) piano and my daughter (14) cello and he is able to motivate them as well as make it fun for them to learn at the same time (not an easy task with a teenager). He is obviously a talented musician, but he also has patience and is very flexible. He doesn’t just stick to the book, he develops a love of music in the kids by encouraging them to also play other types of pieces they are interested in. He was recommended to us by our son’s music teacher at school and we feel we couldn’t have picked a better teacher for our kids.”

“Rich has proven to be a professional, dedicated and consistent teacher. He is patient with his students and provides all of the necessary encouragement needed to help each child progressing to the next level. He is committed to each of his students. Mr. Haley is a wonderful music instructor!”

“Rich has been a piano instructor for my sons, both of who have Attention Deficit Disorder, and he has been able to help them remain focused and on task with their lessons. To hear them now play is just amazing! Mr. Haley helps my boys to remain confident while playing piano by providing positive reinforcement, role modeling and discipline to keep practicing.”

“Rich has worked with our three girls for over three years, teaching flute, cello, and clarinet. He’s taught them so much, and also impressed upon them the value of music and musicianship, while still keeping lessons fun and engaging. He is always professional, punctual, honest, and easy to work with. We consider him quite a “find”!”

“Rich has been our piano and guitar teacher for the past four years. He is dependable, trustworthy, and completely knowledgeable about the subject he teaches. His biggest strength is his unflappable nature and unlimited patience with all children - especially those students other teachers find difficult to teach.”

“Rich made music lessons so much fun but at the same time I learned so much from him each week. He always knew how to explain things to me when I had a problem. He was also flexible with the pace of the classes and would go as fast or slow as I needed him to.”

“I have two children who take piano lessons with Rich. My son has been taking lessons for three years and my daughter is completing her first year. As a former piano player who endured lessons for many years I am most appreciative of Rich’s ability to teach to my children’s pace, thereby keeping their interest in playing. There are times during the year when my children are racing through pieces and Rich increases the challenge and there are other times when they may be struggling and Rich slows down the pace for them.”

“Rich was a very inspiring teacher that really knows his material. He had a well rounded, lovable personality and went above and beyond to help as much as possible! He motivated me to always do my best in everything that came my way, and installed positive feedback all the time, which really helped me want to learn more as a student.”

“I am an elementary school teacher and have been receiving lessons from Rich for 6 months now. Rich has done a fantastic job building up my confidence in playing the piano. It isn't always easy 'teaching a teacher' but Rich possesses qualities such as humor, patience, efficiency and furthermore he has an extensive knowledge of and passion for music. This has made my experience of learning to play an instrument thoroughly enjoyable!”

“My daughter started playing the violin when she was 6 years old and Rich has been her music instructor since day one. She sincerely enjoyed Rich as an instructor and we are extremely happy with how she progressed and Rich’s teaching abilities. I sat in on many lessons with them and it was really unbelievable how well my daughter worked and learned with him.”

“I have worked with Rich for a little over two years. From first picking up the cello to the start of my senior year in high school I gained enough knowledge of the cello and of orchestral music to play in my school orchestra. I feel that I now can play the cello competently with students who have twice as much experience as I. I would not be where I am without Rich.”

“Our daughter started taking piano lessons from Rich three years ago. She is currently is 6th grade and continues playing with joy, enthusiasm and confidence. She looks forward to her weekly lesson and we are thrilled with her progress. We highly recommend Rich!”

“Rich has taught our two boys for over three years. We asked the boys to tell us about Rich as a teacher and they said he was really great. From our point of view as parents, what makes Rich so good is that the boys are definitely learning to play (we see the progress), we have never once heard a complaint from them about Rich, and he takes the time to provide us with a status on their learning (he is honest about it).

“Rich is a natural teacher, not just a music major who couldn't make it professionally. I never had an instructor before or after that could challenge me the way he did. He knew what I could handle and was always there to push me a little further, even when I didn't believe I could do it. I wish I lived closer to him because I would love to take lessons with him again!”

“This has been our first experience with having a music instructor for our daughter. We informed Rich that although our daughter was interested in learning to play the piano she was also very shy and reserved. She has blossomed under Rich’s instruction and has become quite the confident and self-assured piano player we hoped she could be. She went from being a child that was scared to perform in front of an audience to a child that couldn’t wait to play in her recital. We believe it has been Rich’s approach and patience with our daughter that has helped her feel confident in playing the piano!”
