About Alexandra

I am a professional opera singer with a love for languages. I graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University with a Bachelors in Voice, and went on to study opera performance at the Opera Institute at Boston Universities. Since then, I've been working as a singer for over 10 years!

I have to sing in a lot of languages for my job, and I'm here to give you some of the tools I use when mastering pronunciation for your own accent reduction pursuits.

I am also a writer and lover of the English language (my mother is a lifelong English teacher), and love sharing this tough-to-master language with others.

A lot of the skills I have as a singer are so helpful for learning how to pronounce languages correctly AND how to support your voice to keep it healthy.

I can also help you in your own singing development and improvement! I can teach you

basic and advanced technical exercises to increase your breath support, tone quality, and overall musicianship.

I look forward to meeting and working with you!

My lesson went great! Alexandra understood the concept that she should adapt to me. She provides excellent, clear answers and offered additional helpful information with the whole process of learning. I'm thrilled that she customizes my needs accordingly.
Also she has a great personality.

About Hiromi

I am a student at Ball State University, pursuing a Doctor of Arts degree in piano performance under the guidance of Dr. Robert Palmer. As a teaching assistant throughout my graduate studies, I have worked as an accompanist and taught ear training, group piano, and private piano lessons. Prior to Ball State University, I studied at the University of Kentucky and Ohio State University where I earned Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees in piano performance, respectively. To expand my expertise in music, I have attended summer music festivals and conferences including Adamant Music School and “Musical Summer at the Mill” International Masterclasses & Festival in Moulin d’Ande, France. Recently, I presented my lecture recital on the music of Jean-Philippe Rameau at College Music Society regional conferences in North Dakota, Montana,

Hiromi is extremely helpful. It is so nice to have visual contact with her. She answers all of my questions that I have from studying on my own. When I am stuck on a problem, she clears it right up for me. She is a natural. I’m glad to have found her as my Japanese Teacher 👩‍🏫

About Jonathan

I studied music therapy and music theory at Temple University from '06-'10. Learned a lot. Then again, I learned even more teaching at a school for kids with learning disabilities and working as a traveling street performer. Once you see the world and work with some unexpected challenges, you learn how to open up and knuckle down at the same time!

I am currently a full-time YouTube Creator, sidelining in cover bands and a solo act. Teaching is a big part of what I do online so I see my work as a private teacher as 'research' for the lessons I create. Although I'm firmly grounded in a classical music training, there's nothing you can ask about that I won't try to figure out. My favorite thing about teaching is using unexpected questions to develop new ideas that I then integrate into my original compositions. Check out my intro to the B

lues Raga video if you want to hear a good story about what I mean.

Recently I've had several articles published by the TakeLessons Blog. Check out my most recent post here.

I am a college level jazz musician.
My primary instruments are jazz guitar and upright bass.
Growing up I have always wanted to sing but never could find a qualified teacher.

Luckily, after extensive research online for vocal teachers I discovered Kara.
I have been taking lessons with her for a while now and she's wonderful.
I always have many questions for her in my lessons and she always has a knowledgable response.

I feel like I'm progressing and finally learning how to sing properly with someone who knows their stuff.

I would highly recommend studying with her.

About Yae

My family was enthusiastic about international cultures, and so I became an English teacher in Japan. I taught English to Junior High School students in Osaka for more than 10 years. During this time I realized the importance of experiencing other cultures first-hand, so I went to the US and studied Psychology at the SUNY Buffalo, where I obtained a Bachelor Degree in 2003. Afterwards, I returned for more than 10 years to Japan, where I taught English at the Junior High and High School levels in Nagoya, and worked for the establishment of a General Consulate in Nagoya for the nation of Myanmar. About two years ago I returned back to the US, and I hope to share my international experiences and language skills with my students.

Mrs Yae isn't only an extremely careful, thoughtful and well prepared instructor, she is also able to offer an insight into the culture which helps a lot when learning a language that isn't commonly used in this part of the world. As an ESL instructor myself, I appreciate Mrs Yae's techniques when it comes to explaining some of the most complicated aspects of the language, I highly recommend her services.

About Samera

I'm professional teacher . I had a bachelor's degree in Education .I have been working for several years . I worked as teacher , trainer for trainees 'teachers and as a supervisor for the educational process in several schools .I finished an online critical thinking long term course from University Of Oregon .Teaching is my passion. I have a great experience of teaching techingues. I love to use the teaching term (KISS ) which means( Keep Instructions Short and Simple ). My teaching is always easy and simple because I teach spoken Arabic which is dilact of communication . Modern standard Arabic is not used at all in actual ever day life . It is for writers authors, books , news etc .I like writing thoughts and some poetry. I appreciate all types of music .For me music is international union and has no religion or language !

My belief in my life is as this quote said " There is a battle Of two wolves inside us :one is an evil :one is good .The wolf that wins , is the one you feed more ". It is our decision to love , respect and accept others with all their differences! That's why I always make difference with my students . It was always a postive and unforgetable experience and it will be continued.

15 Fun-to-Say Japanese Onomatopoeias (With Audio)

By Mac

What Are Japanese Onomatopoeias? An onomatopoeia is a word where meaning is derived from a sound, or when a word sounds like how it looks. In English, we have onomatopoeias like "cock-a-doodle-doo" for the sound a rooster makes, or "crunch" for the act of crushing things. Onomatopoeias are quite common in many, if not all languages. We tend to notice them most in comics as sound effects: zippers "zip" and light switches "click." They're fun to say and they certainly aren't hard to learn. …
