My students and I have at least one in-person meeting per week with the goal of preparing them for rated competitions. During this meeting, I will go over tactical themes with the student, challenge him/her with puzzles, go over and discuss Grandmaster games and opening variations, or play training games.

I will also chat with the student and find out what she been doing, what she has been working on, and ask her what problems she has encountered during her training.

About Daniel

Hi, I'm a chess tutor and competitor! I teach students of all ages and skill levels and have volunteered for the non-profit organizations Chess Challenge in DC and Chess Girls DC. I focus on one-on-one lessons with instruction geared towards preparing my students for competitive play. My rate is $5

IHello everyone, my name is Danial Asaria and I am a professional chess player that has traveled across the world competing in tournaments representing the U.S. After achieving the master title at age 11, I have become a 5-TIME NATIONAL CHAMPION and am currently the NUMBER ONE 18-year-old on the west coast of the United States. In addition, I have played some of the best in the world including world champion Magnus Carlsen and Hikaru Nakamura. My peak USCF rating is 2390 and my FIDE rating is 2340 awarding me the titles of national master and FIDE master. (top 5% in the world) I founded the Asaria School of Chess and have taught for three years in chess camps across the state with students ranging from 5-85 years old. One of my biggest teaching accomplishments is assisting one of my students to go from #117 in the country to #13 in the country (gained 500 rating points) for their age group in a matter of 5 months! Thanks Danial! That was a great first lesson. Looking forward to more.

My son USCF rating 1400+ took a trial lesson with Danial. Danial is methodical and systematic in his coaching. He was quick to identify what my son needs to improve in order to get to the next level. The most important thing is that my son enjoyed his one-hour lesson and literally felt that the lesson time flew by as it felt like only 2 minutes long to him. My son gives Danial thumbs up and 5 stars.

Melissa is patient, explains the concepts very well, she is hands on and makes the lessons very entertaining and dynamic. The way she selects the material for her students she finds the right balance between effective learning, fun and interesting. We are very fortunate to have her as a piano teacher.

She was so kind and helpful toward my kids for the fist day.

"I normally don’t leave reviews, but after gone trough a few mediocre chess teachers, we are so happy we found Sam and I wanted to take a minute to say that Sam is an phenomenal chess teacher, our children( girl and boy, 6 & 9 ) Love his lessons and have grown so much in terms of chess skill level. Sam is very professional, super patient and uses exceptional effective teaching methods. He’s the best chess teacher we have found in south Florida, after years of changing teachers! Thank you Sam!"

"Erin is an outstanding instructor. She is very, very knowledgeable. I have a pattern and it was poorly written. She was able to untangle it and explain it to me so that I can work on it independently. She is very patient. I would highly recommend her to anyone learning knitting, stuck on a pattern, or want to expand on their knitting skills. She has a lot of knowledge and can explain and impart this knowledge very well. She is a truly great instructor."

"my instructor Felicia was fantastic. She was knowledgeable, patient & extremely helpful. I learned so much in the half hour class. She was able to improvise when I was missing an important component to my machine. She truly is a genius. I scheduled another session at the conclusion of my 1st class, but find I must cancel due to physical problems. I am disabled with severe arthritis & her class is on the 3 rd floor. She carried my machine up for me & I made it up the stairs but when I got home later that evening my knees were so swollen I had to ice them & take pain medication. I know I cannot do that again & will let my instructor know it is not het fault."

"Aaron has been teaching my 9 year old son chess lessons. After several months with a weekly lesson, my wife and I are very pleased with his progress. At first we had our doubts about whether online classes would work. The truth is that we are very satisfied because the use of technology added interest for my son in learning. Aaron is very patient and makes the lessons enjoyable, with some humor. He has a teaching method that combines strategy and theory with a love for the game. That is the magic of learning and is the key to advance one's knowledge of any discipline. Now we play more and more competitive matches and his progress is very noticeable. We also appreciate Aaron's feedback about how each lesson went and tips to work on during the week to reinforce what was learned."
