When I first begin teaching a student, I tell them that everyone has the ability to sing well no matter his or her experience. I also tell them that there are four things that a good singer must have: breathe control (air is your fuel, and must be used efficiently and effectively to give you the best sound), posture (in order to have access to your air and prevent vocal damage you must practice good posture habits), diction (how you pronounce words when singing can impede or improve vocal tone, as well as help or hinder the audience in understanding the lyrics) and finally and most importantly, passion. Passion is how emotionally connected you are to music and is what really allows the singer to connect with his or her audience.

In year 2008 I became the single youngest person to be accepted into the world renowned Speech Level Singing International teacher training and certification program. I took vocal master classes and was trained and certified as a vocal coach directly by Seth Riggs, the international authority on vocal instruction who trained artists like Michael Jackson, Josh Groban, Stevie Wonder and hundreds of other Grammy Award winning singers.
I work with all styles. My goal with my voice students is to teach them how to use their voice in a healthy and natural way while maintaining the ...

As a vocalist, should you practice singing with a metronome at your side? Read on for St. Augustine, FL teacher Heather L.'s advice... Metronomes are devices that produce sounds in regular, pre-chosen rhythms. Many years ago, the only metronomes were simple gadgets. Though the first one that's even similar to what we now think of as a "modern" metronome was invented in the 19th century, the kind that most adults are familiar with is a mechanical, wind-up metronome. It makes a so …
