I enjoy working with children; I am very patient, good at explaining things in a variety of ways, and try to make math relevant and interesting ... even fun, when possible. Relating to numbers, calculating, and measuring are an essential, natural part of being human, and with a positive, friendly approach, elementary math is not the tedious, threatening subject that the schools make it!
*** Travel Equipment *** I do not typically provide any equipment - but I am willing to select and purchase books for the students to learn from (cost of books to be reimbursed by the student/parent) when requested to do so.
I am also willing to provide stick-on note-names for the keyboard, for young children.
The students must have their own instruments, and provide a folder for sheet music and notes/instructions.

Elementary Math Development into Introduction to Algebra.
This course begins with basic math concepts and expands quickly into more advanced Elementary concepts. This course aims at preparing the student to begin their Algebra understanding as well as guiding them further into their next courses.
With eight years experience at Valencia College and 2 years at University of Central Florida I have experienced a wide variety of students between the ages 7 to 60 years. This experience has enabled me to customize lessons in one to one sessions with each unique student and their unique needs.
My teaching methodologies include plenty of visual aids, simile's, and clear communication with a strong emphasis on Socratic questioning to stimulate critical thought in helping to understand and take control of the information to be learned.
Sessions include visual and auditory components to learning and for students who need kinetic interaction to fulfill their learning process assignments can be assigned or custom problems can be created to be solved with an overview process of what is understood and what needs to be better diagnosed.
I taught Math at CPS and in the North Suburbs of Chicago. I believe, my strengths are patience and the ability to explain material in a clear, simple way.
I taught Algebra I and Geometry at Clemente High School in Chicago and AP Statistics, Geometry and Trigonometry at Libertyville High School Summer Program. I am currently teaching 7th and 8th grade Math at a private school in Buffalo Grove, IL. I love tutoring students of any age, from elementary to high school. It makes me happy when I see the progress they are making. My Master's Degree is in Curriculum and Instructions from Loyola University, Chicago. At one point in my life I wanted to be a pharmacist, but when I became a teacher, I realized that that is what I was meant to be. I love helping people. I see how much difference it makes in a student's life when he or she starts to feel confident in Math class, starts to get high scores, starts to dream big. Math opens the doors to a better future, to a better career, to a higher s
elf-esteem. I am grateful for the opportunity to help to make it happen.
My daughter was doing well but short of excelling in math. I sent her to Julia for that extra push and confidence that she needed. She really helped her have confidence and made her thorough with her concepts. She been doing really great ever since!

Julia is a highly knowledgeable, professional and personable teacher. My son has been tutored by her since the age of 4 and is now 13. His MAP and PARCC scores are off the charts and he just received his placements for Stevenson High School with the recommendations for the highest math classes offered to incoming freshmen. Julia taught him to love and be passionate about mathematics. Her primary goal is to make sure that the students learn in a stress-free environment and with that strategy she is able to accomplish brilliant results. I recommend Julia highly. She is very approachable and patient, loves children and loves what she does.
Students will learn the concepts and apply them through a lot of practice problems. Through the practice, students will have a full knowledge of the concept(s).
I teach/tutor a myriad of topics and love doing it. I'm currently attending the Georgia Institute of Technology, studying aerospace engineering and Russian. I love science and math (particularly when it has to do with space stuff). I'm super outgoing and a very laid back, chill person all at the same time (being like this has produced quite the stories).
Working with others and helping them succeed has been something I've loved to do for a while now. While I was in high school, I was a coach for one of the local swim teams and had a blast getting to teach people how to swim and such, and the best part was getting to connect with those kids and seeing them succeed during the swim meets.
Once I graduated, I had the privilege to serve as a full time volunteer in Brazil for a couple years, where my sole focus, every day, was to help o
thers to improve the quality of their life. In doing so, I had the wonderful opportunity to meet new people everyday and see people's lives drastically improve. Another cool part of this experience was that I got to teach English as a second language to people who'd never spoken it before. They loved it, and in the time that I did teach it, students went from speaking no English to being able to form basic sentences and have simple conversations.
Now in college, I've strived to continue this pattern with the little free time that I get during the week and on the weekends due to my classes. Throughout all of this, I've discovered how easy it is for me to connect with people and how much fun it can be.
What I bring to the lessons: I always ensure to provide the highest quality lessons and ensure that the student easily understands the materials. I'll provide materials that I know will assist the student to master the concepts.
My expectations: Learning requires the student to put in effort. Any assignments I give, I will expect them to be completed. I understand that sometimes one of "those weeks" comes around where life hits us in the face, but it's not every week.
Your expectations: You've come to me obviously to learn something new, and I intend to go above and beyond those expectations.
I wrote 5 star review (would give more if could) But showing as 4 stars... not sure why. So writing another one! But I can't say enough great things about Andrew. After 1 tutoring session my son had so many "ah ha" moments. I am so thankful and full of joy. My son is actually "getting it" and may even see how math could be fun...lol.

Andrew was amazing with my 15 yr old son. I am full of joy! My son had so many 'ah ha' moments and actually starting to see math (trig) can be fun. Andrew is an amazing tutor and my son felt so comfortable working with him. I am so thankful and will definitely continue tutoring lessons. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Students can expect to learn skills and develop proficiency in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, decimals, fractions, and percents, ratios and proportions and complex mathematical operations.
About Dr. Dawn
I have been teaching mathematics at all levels since earning my Bachelor of Science Degree from Bucknell University in 1987. I am a lover of mathematics and I bring mathematics to life in a way which is understandable and enjoyable for you (or your child). I make mathematics applicable to everyday life and I utilize techniques that promote learning and skill development. I specialize in Algebra, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus, Ordinary Differential Equations, Partial Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Abstract Algebra and Numerical Analysis and my expertise extends into graduate level courses.
Dr. Dawn is amazing. She is everything you want in a tutor.
She helped my daughter study for an Honors Pre calculus exam. We started with a 45 minute session and now signing up with Dr. Dawn for year round tutoring.

My daughter Really loved Dr. Dawn's style of teaching. Looking forward to have more lessons with her.
From experience, math can transition easily from the most frustrating to the most rewarding subjects. It is always a joyful experience for me to see students put 2 and 2 together and arrive at that glorious correct answer.* I have experience working with elementary and high school students, both privately and in volunteer settings.
Whether the focus is on polynomials, trig identities, calculus, or linear algebra, I am here to help. My process is to break everything down and ask the students questions in order to guide them to the solution. I will do everything I can to help facilitate deep understanding and earning that next A!
My ACT score was 35, with a sub-score of 36 on math. I took Calculus my sophomore year and earned a 5 on the AP Calc - BC test.
Fun fact: In addition to being a math major at the University of Rochester, I'm also studying the Double Bass at Eastman School of Music. If you or your student have any interest in music lessons for upright bass or bass guitar, I ...
Here's a bit about myself:
Since 2016, I've been teaching math to high school and elementary students. I've always loved it. With teaching, I feel that I've grown more patient and more thoughtful in my general life. I recommend that anyone with the means try their hand at teaching. It is a particularly rewarding thing in and of itself.
The summer of 2016, I wrote the music, conducted, and acted as musical director for a full-scale musical entitled Get Hooked: A Pirate Musical. Currently, I'm working on a second full-length project, entitled Nuclear Love, that is set to be produced and performed in the spring of 2020.
I also have experience doing rock and jazz gigs on my electric bass. If you or student is also interested in learning these styles, I'd be more than happy to oblige!
My favorite books are Zen and the Art of Motorc
ycle Maintenance, The Giver, Ishmael, 1984, The Chess Garden, Invisible Man, Labyrinths, and Life of Pi.
My favorite quote is "infinity and beyond." Granted, there is no such thing as 'beyond' - unless you're referring to the power set of infinity. Honestly, I just love infinity. I could talk about the infinite hotel and fractals forever (pun noted and kept).
I've been taking French classes for about 5 years now. If you're interested in having a charming conversation in slightly broken French, je suis ton mec!
There are a few things more inspiring to than helping a student triumphantly arrive at a solution. Or watching them nail a big shift that was giving them trouble the week before. Learning anything comes with struggle, with difficulty, and I've certainly had my share of practice frustration. It's important to understand that such an experience is part of the process. I have no doubt that with the right ethic, the right teacher, and a desire to learn, anything can be achieved.
Let's learn math together! Multiplication, division, the order of operations, decimals, fractions, measurements and more, will no longer be a challenge!
I am a Licensed Court Interpreter, native Romanian, and I love sharing my knowledge with students! Proper pronunciation, correct grammar, and rich vocabulary are essential elements to attaining fluency in a foreign language. Multiplication, division, the order of operations, decimals, fractions, measurements and more, will no longer be a challenge! I have considerable experience working as a linguist for the US Army, as a translator, and substitute teacher as well. Learning will be fun and rewarding!
A very good lesson with focus on pronunciation, grammar, and spelling. Very helpful!

A good and promising beginning lesson.

I'm biased on this tutor because of a previous opportunity to serve our nation together. Anisoara was the most reliable member of Romanian interpreters when military missions required our role in international encounters. She is patient, articulate, intelligent, and very respected in the USA interpreters community. I highly recommend her to teach you the language and culture of the old Dacia (now Romania).
I am a teacher at a local High School in Manhattan. I teach Common Core Algebra and Pre-Calculus to help students perform well on their Algebra 1 & 2 regents. I am also a tutor in Afterschool, Saturday school, and Summer School programs, in which I help students with their homework and classwork. My interests outside of school and work are traveling with friends and family. The reason I enjoy traveling is that I like to explore different places in the world. I also love culture and learning about different types of people. I consider my- self to be a scholar because of my mathematics background but I am highly interested in sports. I enjoy watching basketball, soccer, football, tennis, etc. I am always excited whenever the Olympics are showing because I get to see different athletes from all over the world compete for their country. Of all the sports I watch, basketball is the one I enjoy the most and practice every week. I believe that it is important to train the body, the mind, ...
Hello students, my name is Mr. Odumosu and I will be your instructor. I have been teaching mathematics for over 4 years. Math is a subject I enjoy teaching and I will do my very best to make sure that you enjoy learning. I do understand that mathematics is not for everyone, but I know that anyone can learn it. Thank you for allowing me to be your tutor.
"Prajakta is a wonderful teacher. She understands the level of kids and work accordingly to make the things easy and fun to learn."

"Tamar is a professional. She works well with my son and understands where he should be with the subject."
"Linda is very patient with my Asperger's/ADHD son. She has offered several different ways to approach his math work and clearly was thinking about new ap
proaches between visits. She is a kind, gentle woman and having her help with the work has been so helpful. She even spent extra time to show him some guitar, in case we want to take lessons (upon my request because we're interested in that). Linda has offered advice on several resources that I didn't know about for my journey to assist my son with his challenges. We have been very happy with Linda."
"I have 3 boys ages 7-12. Somehow Janis manages to make time to teach and read with all three before she leaves. The kids love her and more importantly res
pect her. If you can get her I highly recommend it. She covers all subjects and specializes in science by making it fun and entertaining. 5 Stars all the way!"
"she was funny, she was understanding and very nice!
she is a great teacher and is not so serious."
"She does an amazing job breaking things down for my daughter and helping her visualize."
"Consuelo is objetive and determined to help others to learn and overcome their challenges."
