I am comfortable teaching levels form beginner to upper-intermediate. Example: College freshman for piano performance or other music based college programs.

About Mandolyn
Hello, thank you for visiting my site!

I am currently a music teacher for Kindergarten-8th grade, teaching general music, concert band and choir, with the occasional school performance of a musical thrown in the mix. My education in music really took off when I attended a Performing Arts High School where I focused mainly on the clarinet, piano and bassoon. During this time I was very active in the High School solo competition scene and took away many state titles in music theory, clarinet and piano. After graduating I received my BFA€™ in Piano Performance from the University of MN-Duluth. While I was studying I was fortunate to have an inspirational conductor who handed instruments of all kinds out to me. This really held my love and appreciation for music and I learned a lot of my teacher technique from her. I later receiv
ed my Masters€™s Degree in an unrelated field but soon realized what I wanted to do in my heart of hearts was teach music.

I have had a lot of experience playing in weddings, background music for large parties and gatherings, and accompaniment for an array of instruments and vocalists. On the clarinet I have performed solo recitals, worked on duets and also played with orchestras. I have a love for music theory and a lot of educational resources for teaching it.

I believe all of these life experiences have really helped me become a natural teacher. I offer a laid back approach and a friendly atmosphere while still providing structure and reasonable expectations. More than anything I want to keep the love and spark for music alive in every student, without that I truly believe it is hard to achieve your greatest goals. This is incorporated in custom lessons for every student.

*** Lesson Details ***
Every lesson is designed for the student in mind as I don'€™t believe any two musicians are alike. People also have different learning styles which I can cater to so everyone is successful. While I have a laid back approach I do give 100% to every lesson I create and I expect the same appreciation from my students. Mistakes are never criticized, rather looked at as a learning experience. When I was taking lessons ruling with an iron fist€™ never benefited me so I make sure to keep a friendly relationship with my students, while still maintaining mutual expectations.

After one month of lessons with me you will have improved on your skills, no matter where you started with me. I put a strong emphasis on artistry alongside technical musicality so you can find your musical voice while still staying true to what you are learning.

My materials range from book series, mostly for beginners, to sheet music for the more advanced students.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can bring my own clarinet but would expect the student to have their own instrument and any needed equipment. (music stand, piano, clarinet as an example.)

*** Specialties ***
I have been a general music education teacher and have started choral work in this environment for 2 1/2 years. I have a piano performance background and taught lessons for 5 years starting in high school and through some of college.

I have been teaching piano for over 15 years and helped a lot of students to get their piano skills polished. I custom design my piano lessons that corresponds to each student's ability and experience.

About Val
My name is Val Kuznetsov and I am an expert in teaching voice. I have been enjoying helping singers and musicians for over 15 years and so very proud to have clients who have already climbed to #1 on Billboard charts and are successfully developing their careers with major labels such as Columbia Records and Warner Brothers.

My 6 year old son has been taking piano with Dora for just 6 months, but has done amazingly well under her teaching. Dora is fantastic with kids, and she has such a warm, friendly nature that my son always looks forward to his lessons. A number of my neighbors send their kids to Dora for voice and piano, and have nothing but wonderful things to say. I plan to send my younger child to Dora when she's older.

I offer contemporary music instruction for piano, and focus on technique, theory, sight reading, ear training, and improvisation.

About Jeffrey
"Music is the catalyst that helps to enhance the quality of life.We as musicians and educators MUST pass it on."

I am a 27 year practicing professional musician, songwriter, arranger, and music educator. Music is my passion. I currently teach guitar, piano, and organ, and serve as minister of music and staff musician for two Chicago area church congregations. I have played guitar and keyboards for local bands, and am well versed with a variety of musical styles.

*** Lesson Details ***
I specifically tailor my lessons for each student....I do not use a "cookie cutter" lesson style. To achieve the best lesson approach for the most positive student outcome, I conduct a student assessment during the first lesson (first lessons are free for a limited time) to determine student skills, goals, and objectives. After the assessment, I
structure a comprehensive, contemporary lesson plan that includes fundamentals, technique, theory, and songs relative to the lesson in a fun and productive manner that engages the student and promotes his/her creativity.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Acoustic piano (A 440), Yamaha Digital Piano, Hammond X-C3 organ, 6 string acoustic guitar, 6 string classical guitar

*** Travel Equipment ***
My expectation would be that all students I visit in home would have an acoustic piano properly tuned, or a digital piano or keyboard with 88 weighted keys. Guitar students should have a 6 string, acoustic or electric guitar (with an amplifier).

I am trained in Russian technique using relaxation movements that prevent painful cramps in wrist and forearm. I have been teaching primarily children from age 4 in music schools and homes since 1987. I like to motivate them by letting them choose their favorites, like songs from Disney movies or some other popular songs. I am very patient and encouraging. I am happy when I see love for music growing in hearts of students.

About Katarina
I attended six years at State Conservatory and graduated with Magister degree from Comenius University in former Czechoslovakia. I performed during my college years with a chamber vocal-instrumental ensemble. I started teaching piano and music theory in 1987 at a music school and later I was giving piano lessons at private homes in Slovakia. In USA I traveled to homes to teach piano for several years. Currently I am a substitute piano and voice teacher at a local music/arts school.

About Josh
Hi, there! My name is Josh, and I can't wait to meet you! I am fairly new to private teaching and am looking forward to helping my students get a good solid start with either piano, or improvised theatre. I studied theatre in Philadelphia at the University of the Arts, and I trained at the IO theatre in Chicago for improvised theatre. I studied jazz piano with Dr. Joe Utterback in Stratford, CT. I've been performing in Chicago as an improvisor and mucisian for about 4 years. I really look forward to helping you reach your goals!

I have never sung in public but it was always a dream of mine to be able to sing a solo in front of my family and friends for the holidays. I heard about Ms. Lydia through friends and asked her to teach me to sing. She gave me a free consultation to determine what my needs were and then set up a plan to help me reach my goals through the lessons that she gave me. Fast forward to last Christmas, I surprised my family by singing a ton of Christmas favorites and I am preparing to do the same this year. Thank you Ms. Lydia

Whether its a few chords or an intricate accompaniment, piano is an important part of any band or ensemble. I can teach you different techniques and styles to compliment any song.

About Claire
My name is Claire and I have been making a living as a touring/gigging musician for the last eight years. I studied music performance and production at Columbia College Chicago. I have played in a variety of styles, both solo and as part of a band. I currently tour with my band, The Lucky Dutch on keys and vocals. My students start their journey learning music of their choice, sparking interest and enthusiasm from the very first lesson. My motto is "Relentless Positivity" and it shows in my lessons. There is never a consequence for a wrong answer or misplaced note and the worst thing that can happen is we play it again. We will work together to navigate this inspiring and often humbling path.
