I teach every student the technical skills and applied theory necessary to work in any contemporary style on guitar. I use the "Be better than you have to be" approach. Want to be the best on a bad day? Be better than your chosen style requires. I studied classical and jazz in order to excel at rock, folk and blues.
You will learn to read music and charts for guitar, as well as movable scale patterns, movable chord forms, and how to apply it all to master the fretboard.
Have you hit a road block? I can help. Are you brand new and want to be sure you understand the instrument completely? I can help.

I've been teaching guitar for 5 years helping students develop a love for the instrument and learn more about music along the way. There are many styles I'm comfortable teaching from folk (fingerpicking or flatpicking), rock, blues and funk and I would love working on developing a unique style of your own. Within the first few lessons you'll have a solid base of strumming, picking and chord changes and even a few simple songs under your belt. Moving on from there I will craft lessons to move you toward a "goal song," making sure to cater your progress to your needs while keeping a focus on good technique. I enjoy working with students of all ages and experiences and I can't wait to meet you!

About Ryan

Ryan is a musician from Logan Square who plays a plethora of different instruments. He specializes in guitar, banjo, mandolin and ukulele, but also dabbles in accordion, piano, drums, harmonica and several others. Barry Harris, the great Jazz pianist, and educator says, “I have such a ball in my classes, and I learn so much from my students. They probably don’t realize that I come to school here, too. I’m just the oldest member of the class. I wish everyone could experience the blessing of learning new things all the time.”

The above statement describes how I feel when I am teaching. I have been playing and performing for over 20 years in many capacities, and still, music continues to teach me new things every time. Not only do I want to share that experience with you, but I also want to guide you into having that experience for yourself.

About Ian

I started on the violin when I was about 8 years old. I began with classical music, studying in the Suzuki method. I loved my time in the Suzuki method; I wasn’t always the best student; however, in hindsight, I am incredibly grateful for the experience with my teacher, the method, and the strong

I can play any number of styles from blues and country to hard rock and heavy metal. I've been playing guitar for about 15 years now. I know music theory very well and I'm great with making the theory part fun to learn while teaching to play a style that the student prefers. I'm an easy going guy and really patient. I make the promise to every student that I will give them every bit of effort and support I can to propel them in their music career. I'm one of those people who gets along with everybody and I like to make my lessons fun for each student.

About Garrett

I've been playing guitar for about 15 years now and I've played in just about every type of band. After playing in a metal band for about 5 years I switched over to a classic rock group for a couple years. In both of those groups I was lead guitar/lead vocals. Now for the last few years I've been

I tried learning guitar a number of years ago. Garrett was great getting me started back into guitar. He quickly got me going with some simple chords and techniques. He has a strong understanding of guitar and makes it easy to understand. + he can play anything!
Derrick
What can I say about Garrett. I have never met a better guitarist in my 20 years of playing. Taking lessons with him was one of the best decisions I ever made. I would pay him double. No matter the guitar style, Garrett seems to have played it for years and has real insight on any of the different styles from Blues, to Country, to Rock, to Classic Rock, to Metal. He helped me not just learn riffs or songs but scales and has bug in teaching me more advanced music theory as well. He truly is the perfect mix of good person and amazing guitarist. Don’t miss the chance to learn from one of the best no matter your skill level!

I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of music and theory skills. I specialize in classical guitar; however, my lessons are also very good to beginners of acoustic guitar. I typically use many guitar books so you do not get bored with the same tunes. You will develope your technique to play very comfortable your preferred musical style.

I had the good fortune of having Roberto as my Traditional Harmony and Counterpoint teacher when going for my Music Degree in Mexico City. I can tell you his class was one of a kind and he turned a couple of the most complicated subjects of music into something very enjoyable. He's a strict teacher, but he values hard work dearly and he was always available for a student seeking help.
Manuel Vargas Mena
I had the pleasure and honor of being one of his students in Mexico City while I was in music college. He's a very disciplined teacher (never missed a class) and he has complete dominion over the subjects he teaches. Roberto's not only an amazing guitarist but he has a unique way of teaching music theory and history that makes you quite familiar with the different approaches to music over the different ages. He also shows a legitimate interest over his students, he challenges then and even owns when he's pointed out mistakes by them. During my time as his student I also realized that he was quite respected by the other professors. Fair warning: he can be a little sarcastic but he means no offense whatsoever to his students and fellow musicians.
Quique Escamilla
Roberto is a an excellent music teacher with invaluable knowledge and years of teaching experience. I have had the opportunity to study with him at 2 separate different periods in my music career/life—years ago, at a music college first, and more recently I've had the opportunity to reconnect with him and continue furthering my music knowledge with his great help over online classes. He has been very helpful, very patient, and I can highly recommend him as a great music teacher to anyone, at any level.

"Greg is a awesome guitar player and a great teacher.
I only took lessons for a month because I really didn’t have the time because of work and other chores I needed to give attention to but Greg was really friendly and patient and if I had the time to really focus on guitar, with the help from Greg, I’d probably be awesome by now.🤙🏽
If you’re thinking about or wanting to learn how to play, I’d highly recommend Greg.
Thank you Braddah Greg and ROCK ON 🎸"

"I'd say Kevin is by far the best teacher I've ever had for acoustic guitar. I'm left handed, which require a special technique of instruction. I'm also well up in my years and have always wanted to learn guitar for my own enjoyment. He's patient with me, which is great, and is very fair with the time he provides for the cost. He goes the extra mile to assure I gain confidence and fulfillment with my playing. I have plenty more to learn and I only want Kevin because he teaches in a sincere and meaningful way. However, one of the difficulties of being a guitar player is deciding what gear is needed for live performances. Don’t get me wrong, there is something extremely satisfying about plugging in …
