I live in Shakopee, MN and I've been teaching for five years now. I made a little music studio in my home, that's where I teach most of my students. I have a couple of music stands, and I have my own instruments (violin, viola). I will be able to teach in Shakopee, and in Victoria. About Anna
Hi, my name is Anna. As an orphan, I grew up in Hungary in a foster home. At a very young age I was already exposed to music. It kind of blew me away. I didn't know how something could be so beautiful, and it was like a miracle for me. Then and there, I knew that something special was waiting for me ahead. When I was 3, I didn't talk for a long time, but I did do one thing: sing. At that point my life has totally changed. I began my long journey. My foster parents got me into a music school, called Janos Patzay Music School. I knew immediately what I wanted to be. I built my whole life on music. It always filled up a very special place in my heart, it still does, and it always will. I started to learn the violin when I was 5 years old. Being in a music environment always gave me strength, made me feel safe, and made me stronger as a perso
n. I decided to learn more, and to grow, I must never give up on my dreams. After elementary school, in 1998, I went to Bela Bartok Music High School, and graduated in 2002. I continued studying music at the University of Miskolc Bela Bartok Institute of Music trough 2004-2008. Those four years were some of the best years of my life. In college, I changed my major to viola instead of violin. I am never going to forget the day of my diploma concert (April 27,2008, Sunday). It was wonderful. All the hard work and studying got me here to this point. I had no family being there for me all these years, nothing really, only God and music. Knowing the fact what I wanted kept me going in the hard times. In 2003, I met with a pastor from the United States who were on a mission trip in Hungary, in the orphanage I lived. Nothing can describe it, not even words what we had. I felt like I always knew her. I used to say I was born in a wrong place in a wrong time. After my diploma concert she and her husband adopted me. Today I am able to say that I have a family, a real family with true love. So, I came here to study English (ESL) at the University of Minnesota for a year and a half. Not having time for me to practice and not have music around me for a little over than a year, it made me really sad. I was depressed, and I thought I am going to get crazy. Music was totally cut out from my life. In 2009, I finally had my music back. I was enrolled in Crown College for 2 years. I attended the school's chamber orchestra and quartet, and I also attended other classes as well ( English, drawing, painting, and piano). I have been in different chamber groups through all of my schools (duet, trio, quartet, symphony orchestra, chamber orchestra). I also studied how to teach violin ( teaching techniques) for four years in college. I observed teaching methods at the Beni Egressy Music School once every week. In my fourth year of college, I was also teaching little ones, and after my diploma concert I also had to do a diploma teaching.

I live in Shakopee, and I've been married for six years now. I made a little music studio in my home, that's where I teach most of my students. I use a combination of fun and work together, because I think it's important for the student to feel relaxed and also have a good time.
I am really patient with my students, while helping them master new songs and techniques. I understand that every student learns in a different way that is unique to them, and I will do my best to discover each student's learning style. I do not ask for perfection, but I do drive them to do their best.This is my motto: "Do the best you can", and "Be the best you can be".
I am a classically trained musician, and I believe that it's really important to have a strong foundation of learning the basics: reading notes, rhythms, a little bit of music theory etc. Everything else builds on this, for example, like learning and playing different styles or genres in music. You have to know the basics in order to be able to play them.
In each lesson, I will have assignments for the students to work on throughout the week: 1 song for 30 minute lesson, 1-2 songs for 45 minute lesson, 2-3 songs for an hour lesson, and I will always ask for a specific scale at the beginning of every lesson. How fast or slow we can move forward, and how much we can learn it's really depends on the students. These assignments will be showed first (I'll play it to the student), then we work on them together. I'll make sure they understand what I am showing and telling them before leaving. I will also have technique exercises, and music theory sheets for students.
I take practice very seriously. The amount of time I recommend is varies according to the student's age and skill level.
Students will have a recital once a year. They will show what they have learned through the year. I also encourage students to share their talent in community and school talent shows, at church, at family gatherings, and for friends.
Note: I do have cats in my home. If you or your child has a problem with cat allergies, I can teach in Victoria, give lessons in our church.

Anna has a wonderful rapport with our son. This, I'm certain, has greatly improved the quality of the lesson and his willingness to practice. In the very short time (year and a half) that he's been taking violin, he is playing better than many of the longer studied kids in his string orchestra at school, due to the tutelage of Anna.

Before switching to primarily playing viola, I trained and performed as a violinist for ten years and graduated from the Suzuki Violin Method. I now play violin as my secondary instrument.

My teaching style is inspired by my initial training in the Suzuki method, and my studies with violist and pedagogue Karen Ritscher at Oberlin Conservatory. Please note, I have not yet received training as a Suzuki teacher and use the Suzuki method books and the teaching I received as a Suzuki student as a jumping off point for working on each student's individual needs.

I studied viola at Oberlin Conservatory of Music and moved to Portland three years ago to pursue performance and teaching opportunities. Since then I have performed with Classical Revolution PDX, Cascadia Composers and ARCO PDX and am a member of Macaulay Balkan.

My initial studies were on violin using the Suzuki method, which has greatly influenced my teaching approach. However, I am dedicated to customizing the lesson time and structure to the needs and priorities of my students.

Grace is excellent! I feel extremely lucky to have her as my violin teacher. I was playing better after just one lesson with her.

Before I found her, I had been turned down by several other teachers on this site because I wanted to learn how to play the violin without having to learn to read music. When I saw Grace's video, I thought surely she would turn me down too, because she's an even better player than the teachers who had said no. I was very surprised and excited when she agreed to teach me. She saw no problem with giving me lessons without reading, which means that not only is she a better musician than the others, but obviously she's a better and more versatile instructor, too.

Like I said, I feel very fortunate. And, as good as she is, I would have expected to pay a lot more for her. I actually WOULD pay more. She'd be worth it! I've looked at dozens of other teachers on this site .. Trust me, she's the best.

Lessons with me...

I'm passionate about music and its many benefits, both academically, emotionally, and physically. The pace is determined by the goals of the student, and materials are tailor-made to suit your preferences. Classical instruction is essential for proper technique, but branching out to Celtic fiddle or movie soundtracks is a definite option!

It was truly a pleasure meeting Concetta for my first ever violin lesson. It is difficult to learn anything at the age 40, specially a musical instrument, but she made it comfortable and easy to understand. She's extremely patient a key quality when teaching a subject such a music to anyone. I would say, give her teaching style a try and you won't regret it. Very knowledgeable indeed.

Very patient and beyond knowledgeable! I haven't done anything with TakeLessons before and my online class was hosted via skype so it was easy to get connected and learn at my own pace. I've taught hundreds of students over the past 15 years, and have loved helping my students learn to read and play, discover their own love of music, and conquer their fears of performing. I began my violin studies at age 9, with my humble public school string program
. I continued through high school and into college, playing and singing with auditioned district ensembles, school musicals, and chamber choirs, coming in as runner up in my high school's concerto competition, and performing twice in Carnegie Hall. I studied opera, vocal pedagogy, and passed my piano proficiency exam from the advanced class.

In 2003, I earned my violin performance degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and soon after, joined the Kansas City-based Celtic folk group, Tullamore. I have enjoyed 13 seasons with this lauded regional group, playing countless esteemed Celtic festivals across the country and embarking on five international tours of Ireland and Scotland, as well as a Caribbean cruise hosted for our fans. Our sixth international tour is scheduled for 2019 in Scotland.

In 2014, I relocated to Hampton, Virginia, where I auditioned for the Hampton Roads Philharmonic, and currently play as a first violinist.

In 2015, I began playing with Brackish Water Jamboree, an award-winning Americana band, featured on NPR's Out of the Box series with Paul Shugrue, and host of the NorFOLK Festival.

Throughout this time, I have enjoyed teaching a full and enriching music studio of students: hosting recitals, open mics, and ensemble rehearsals, and watching students achieve goals they didn't know were even possible. I continue to teach online via Skype, FaceTime, and Google Hangouts, and I look forward to working with you to accomplish your own musical aspirations!

Hi! My name is Sara. My studio began in 2000, teaching one violin student. I took a break and went to college to earn my A.A. in Music and my Piano Performance Certificate from Riverside Community College in California. I graduated Great Distinction and was on the Dean's list. I received many piano and academic scholarships. While in college I started my studio in Riverside California teaching Piano to an autistic child. I taught him 3 times a week and made exceptional progress. I enjoyed it so much I started teaching full time in 2008 teaching piano, harp, violin, voice, guitar, flute and clarinet. Soon I had 50 students and created a 501 (c) (3) non-profit music school. My students and I perform for the public, including nursing homes. The performances are important for the students progress as well as the Piano Guild where students are
adjudicated by judges in a non competitive environment. Moving back to my hometown, I am excited to meet new students!

My daughter has been working with Sara for over a year and has progressed so much. She is a prolific songwriter at 12, so it's important that she understands good theory and possesses a strong and proper skill-set. Sara has done incredibly well for providing this for my daughter. Worth every dime!!!

I really enjoyed my first lesson with Sara. She is friendly and encouraging, and gave me some very useful instruction to improve my playing. It was my first lesson with a harp teacher, and I'm glad it was with her, as I felt I received a much needed confidence boost! I look forward to future lessons with her.

Pedagogy is always been my greatest passion. My students are my first priority and my goal is to instill a deep passion for music, I want them to learn moved from the desire of making music.

As a teacher I work to provide my students all the knowledge that i had acquired from my teachers and my personal experience. I strive to provide them the best technique that they need, i teach them how to be creative, how to learn and how to become teachers of themselves.

My first concern, is to communicate and reach out every student, to understand their learning process in order to find a specific method for each one of them, as everyone is unique and have a different approach to music.

About emanuele
Emanuele started to play the violin at the age of 5, at 12 he won first price at several youth competitions like Stresa and Serravalle Sesia international competitions. In the same years he was also the youngest member of the chamber orchestra “Archinsieme” which provide him an invaluable performing experience for his young age.

At the age of 14 he attended the Conservatory of Novara and Bologna. Emanuele earned his Bachelor from the Conservatory of Ferrara with Alessandro Perpich and his Graduate Performance Diploma from the Boston Conservatory with Markus Placci. Furthermore, he studied with Anton Berovski, Marco Fornaciari, and Mela Tenenbaum. He has a long teaching experience.

His main educational principle is to provide his students an invaluable foundation of technique and musical aesthetic that can serve them throughout the
ir musical journey. Emanuele strives to instill in each student a deep passion for music in a way that they can learn through the desire of making music.

Through a personalized approach during their training, he helps his students to create a professional identity in an increasingly competitive world, with an emphasis on technique, relaxation, efficient practice skills. He combines and carries the fundamentals of the Russian and Franco-Belgian traditions he inherited from his teachers, that he displays with all his passion to all his students.
