I have nearly a decade of experience teaching piano students of all ages, and particularly enjoy working with beginners! I work with students on developing the musical fundamentals that will let them explore any genre they're interested in, whether they dream of playing Beethoven sonatas, keys in a rock band, or hymns at their church.

Note: Prices listed for this subject area are for in-studio and in-home lessons, regardless of genre. I am offering reduced online rates during the Covid-19 pandemic. These are available under "Piano" lessons.

When I teach, I strive to help students learn the most efficient practice methods and to develop a healthy attitude towards learning music. Your progression on the instrument is what will take you to the next step. Either playing solo and chamber have the same core values: beautiful tone production, fine intonation, pure rhythm, expressive playing, knowledge of musical styles, acute listening, excellent ensemble skills. If you study with me, I will help you master these concepts and techniques at your own pace and help you find your own musical voice through playing the piano/viola.

I've had some great guitar teachers in my life and I've learned a lot from them about music and playing the guitar. I will use what my teachers taught me to help you or your child learn how to play the guitar. I teach beginning to advanced players (except for classical guitar which I teach beginning to intermediate levels), kids and adults, and will work with you in a fun and challenging environment to make sure you are getting the most out of your investment. I am a very calm and friendly teacher who will make our lessons fun while also encouraging you to make progress. I will strive to keep you motivated to improve and will document your progress with the use of technology like audio recordings and video so you can see and hear your progress as well as learn from your mistakes. I like to work from guitar method books so we can establish specific and measurable goals, but I do respect and accommodate different learning styles. And, of course, we will work progressively on any songs ...

I am a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. I have been teaching professionally for 17 years. It is important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson.

Private one-on-one saxophone instruction has been my primary vocation for nearly 30 years. I've also worked as a professional performing musician for over 35 years. Each lesson is tailored to the tastes and needs of the student, with traditional method books rarely used once the basics are under control. Instruction is based on a strong working knowledge of scales. The informed use of these scales leads to a heightened understanding of improvisation, ear training, and other practical aspects of music theory. Students are encouraged to choose from a variety of jazz standards and transcriptions, classical themes, and pop tunes that I’ve transcribed and engraved. Rudimentary instruction is also available for saxophonists wishing to learn flute and/or clarinet.
