You should expect to learn all vocal techniques just the same as any student but we fine tune your technique balance to suit the desired sound for different genres. We cannot just stop at the sound, the full performance has to be explored so we go over musical tools to enhance performance vocally as well as acting though the song, staging, guestures, and facials.

About Marissa

My musical journey started in high school when my algebra teacher saw me in the hallway, grabbed my hand and brought me to the choir room to sign up for The Sound of Music auditions. To this day I cannot believe my math teacher unknowingly sent me straight down a path that I would walk the rest of

The most important aspect of vocal training that I will emphasize is breath control and support. Connecting to the body when singing will ensure vocal protection and prevent any unwanted vocal strain. Once we have worked on technique through various scales and breathing exercises, I will teach them how to apply these elements of singing to their repertoire. When we work on repertoire, I try to alternate between technical practice and artistic expression. I want to make sure the student is having fun, communicating their art, and discovering their own unique artistic identity, which I believe to be the most important aspect of being a singer! I will provide my students with new challenges each week and help them to gain new tools to practice healthily and efficiently.

About Christina

My name is Christina and I am a professional singer. Alongside singing, I have 7 years of teaching experience in schools, and private studio lessons. I specialize in opera but also sing and teach a wide variety of genres as well! I completed my Bachelor of Arts in music at the University of Califor

Our voice is one of many ways to communicate, it is a gift and an amazing gift at that. Our voice can be used to communicate, interact, teach, tell a story, display how we feel, transport people’s hearts to another place or time; to name a few.
Being able to sing is one thing but to also be able to perform and have your audience receive you well takes skills and training. I will help you engage with your audience while you display your art through your voice.

I’ve been taking lessons with Chau for about 3 months now and I’m absolutely thrilled with the progress I’ve made. Chau is very detailed in her explanations of vocal concepts which allows me to understand what and why I’m doing what I am with my voice. I’m constantly amazed by her ability to pick up on the most nuanced details of my voice to both correct bad habits and encourage good ones.

Chau is a great instructor! I came in with zero singing experience and was a bit nervous to start. She made me feel at ease and immediately gave me exercises and techniques to improve my singing. I've been seeing her for about two months now and I'm already seeing great progress that I'm proud of.
