I have been teaching guitar for over 18 years and have taught hundreds of satisfied students. When you sign up for guitar lessons, you will begin by learning the basics of the instrument including proper holding and playing position, tone production, rhythm, first position notes, basic chords and notation. Once you get the basics down, you will learn how to play your favorite songs regardless of style. All of this can happen within the first 4-6 months of playing.

About Dave

Dave K. began playing guitar at the age of 10. His influences include Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Guthrie Govan, Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmour, Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Pat Martino, Pat Metheny and Scott Henderson. At the age of 17 he began teaching private guitar and bass lessons to classmates

I haven't played the violin since I was in middle school, and I wanted to re-learn to play it. I am so glad I picked Dave, he is very professional and made me feel very comfortable. I jumped in with both feet and Dave made the instructions at our first lesson easy for me to understand. Excellent location and studio is awesome.
Rushia Hendricks
Excellent lesson. Does a wonderful job at taking older students and gently holding their feet to the fire to bring out the best- even under the most challenging of circumstances. Kudos to being such a uniquely great teacher!

I realize it was the first lesson but I was a little disappointed that we spend nearly the entire time on housekeeping items, like canceling and re-scheduling appointments. I think that could have been covered with an e-mail or handout. I also thought we spent too much time going over the differences between acoustic and electric guitars - considering my age and background. Would have liked to see him demonstrate what I was asked to practice before the next lesson instead of just being told to refer to the workbook.

Great first day!
Jim
I recently started taking lessons with Kenny to try to learn some basic lead guitar in a one on one setting. I've been very impressed with his preparation, taking the time to tailor the lesson to my level of play and the music I am interested in playing. He also is very encouraging and is interested in my learning and progress, even going beyond the one hour lesson time to ensure that I have the tools necessary to continue to work at home.

I am a Brazilian guitar player who started by playing blues and rock on the electric guitar, and then moved into Samba, Bossa Nova and fingerstyle on the nylon-string guitar. Today, I play mostly Latin styles and a little bit of Flamenco. I also have a year of conservatory training under my belt, as well as a background in West African percussion, and culminate all of these styles together as a composer.

As a teacher, I cater to your aptitude and your goals and make sure that you are having fun while you grow. That means learning actual repertoire of music that you want to study. Some students want more music theory than others: and that's totally fine! But I like to always have a song as a context to study that theory. Afterall, we want to use theory to actually make music!

About Thomas

My name is Tomas. I am a Brazilian-American polyglot musician and language instructor. I play music and teach English/Portuguese for a living, and have been doing so for the past 7 years! I also learned Spanish and French through music, so I know a lot about those languages and the styles of music

I am so happy to have this opportunity to review Rodrigo Rodríguez. I have learned so much with him over the several years that I have been studying with him! He has totally transformed my guitar playing and has helped me to achieve my specific goals which are: To learn to play rhythmically with my right hand, to learn the fretboard better so that I can play more advanced songs, and to learn the repertoire of Spanish language music. He is so knowledgeable and talented! I have learned styles and songs from him from many different countries - Argentina, Peru, Bolivia, Cuba, Colombia, and Mexico. In addition to all of that, he is a first rate human being who I feel fortunate to know! So, do yourself a favor and take lessons from him. He is a great teacher!

Rodrigo is a patient teacher who is a great musician. I have only had one lesson with him, but believe I will make good progress in learning the cajun accordion.

What’s up my new friends? My name is Tyler, and I can’t wait to start jamming with you!

I play in a full-time touring band based out of Athens, GA called The Orange Constant. I play an average of 150 live shows per year, and have played guitar and bass in several bands over the past 10 years. I grew up a lover of all kinds of music, and as a teacher I find great joy in being a part of another person’s journey of self-discovery through music. Taking lessons with me will consist of observing music from a theoretical approach, without ever losing focus on the equally important concept of how it makes you FEEL.
As I said before, I love all sorts of music, and am 100% willing and ready to tackle whatever inspires you most. Let’s have some fun!

"Ahmad is incredible!! I could tell from day one he was going to make a huge difference in my guitar playing. His lessons are prepared in advance so very little time is spent penciling out lesson material. His recording/teaching studio is a very clean and professional, and his super well organized library of teaching materials allows us to maximize our learning time. I love playing his teaching material! None of the guys I took lessons from before had such an effective approach. I have so much fun with it! His lessons have introduced me to various pop, rock, country, metal, and jazz concepts from very popular musicians. He has a unique way of teaching rhythm that has helped me capture phrasing and keep songs in time. Recently I've started taking his harmony classes. These classes have given me the knowledge to confidently play with other musicians and create great music. I would highly recommend Ahmad for anyone that desires to learn more about the guitar. I am moving back to Arizona for work (and sun!). I wish I could take him with me!!"

Hey you—guitar player—you may not know it, but you’re actually an elite member in a group of very special people—people who play the guitar.
