I have been sneaking music theory into all of my lessons from the very beginning. I have a minor in music and have a solid understanding of scales, chord constructions, progressions etc.
Science plays into my theory lessons too. It is not my intention to bang people over the head with theory, I just like to help people understand how music works.

About Ayme

Music can be as simple or as intricate as you want to make it. I will to teach you how to make the most of whatever knowledge and skill you have and to have fun while you do it. If music is a language, then theory is the translation guide. it shows the connections between keys, chords and notes to show the underlying structure and connection in music. A foundation in music theory helps your guitar solos shine brighter, vocal runs reach higher and compositions grow more evolved.

Whether it's learning the musical alphabet, learning to read music, or studying orchestral scores, I'm here to help.

Note: Music theory students should have a piano available to them.

About Chris

I've been a full time musician performing and teaching in Chicago for the last 5 years. In that time, I've performed or toured with artists such as hellogoodbye, Mike Reed, Beats Antique, Randy Brecker, Dana Hall, and Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, at venues such as the Pritzker Pavilion, Chicago Symphony

I've performed with Chris on gigs around town in several settings and a variety of styles. He knows how to tastefully fit into a mix as well as improvise in front when necessary. I can only describe this as having great musical instincts. Of course, always punctual and professional.

Jaxon is great! Always incredibly patient with my flamenco development. He also gives plenty of material for you to work on at home, so you’re never not sure what you have to work on. Overall, if you want to improve quickly and learn the right way, you can’t go wrong with Jaxon.

Jaxon is prepared, attentive, kind and encouraging. He communicates very clearly. He made me feel comfortable enough to take risks. His playing is simply beautiful, but he also genuinely enjoys teaching. As a follow up to my lesson he sent me detailed notes on what we covered and how to practice it. I'm excited to continue working with him!

"David is not only a delightful person, he's also an excellent piano teacher. I'm a piano teacher myself yet I needed some help with improvisation--my weakest link. He patiently walked me through adding chords and harmony to a melody. I learned a lot of new ideas, such as leaving out the emotive third interval...that's better utilized in the right hand. He demonstrated how to take a familiar classical piece, namely Mozart's Rondo Alla Turca, and play it completely by ear. His musicianship is lovely and he is patient and thorough in his explanations. His knowledge of music theory is complete and sound. I highly recommend him to anyone looking to start or continue music lessons. He is truly passionate about music and his profession."
