About Kelvin
I am a highly organized, outcome-driven and motivated professional musician and educator with solid experience in the classroom. For the past 25 years, I have been employed with Amati music academy and seven years on the faculty of University of St Francis.
I am very comfortable with all aspects of the current music syllabus, including teaching musical concepts (such as duration, pitch, dynamics, tone color, texture and structure) as well as performance, composition. I am fully qualified, with a Bachelor of Education in Music, Double Masters in music performance and education from University of Nottingham.
I am proficient in classical, jazz and Celtic fiddle violin and possess solid skills in piano (grade 8-13) Royal conservatory system.
Throughout my teaching career, I have been driven to help students achieve their very best. I str
ongly believe that music has the power to change lives – to enhance the social, cultural and spiritual lives of people, and serve as a profound medium of personal expression. Professional perform experience: The Chicago, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, Three tours with Moody Blues, YoYo Ma etc....
The most important thing I look for in a student is communication skills, as well as talent. I like to nurture students and help identify their individual strengths, which is a key factor in shaping a musical persona that will make its mark both on and offstage. I do not advocate a uniform technique for all students. Physical differences and learning styles are always taken into consideration. Potential is as important to me as early achievements and experience. My goal is to help students become self-sufficient, discriminating artists. I discuss practice techniques often and develop individualized scale routines. I encourage initiative and expressive musicality as well as precision. Above all, music needs to bring obvious joy to the student, regardless of the difficulties.”

Kelvin is a great teacher. He understands and teaches in a way that makes sense to me. If you’ve played the Banjo you know the teacher needs a lot of patience and he does. He provides the right direction and more importantly listens to my questions. There is no doubt in my mind if you have to learn or improve your banjo skills Kelvin can help.

I learned to sew in Vacation Bible School at my church when I was in 7th grade. I made my first pair of overalls and was on top of the world. That began my love of sewing and all things crafty. Today I love working as a special education teacher. But my first love is teaching beginner and intermediate level sewing to kids and adults. I have two children (1 in college and 1 in 10th grade) and when I'm not working or sewing I help my husband at his sports training facility.

My Crafty Table Sewing and Craft Studio teaches children how to use math skills to sew. All of our "leveled" projects are connected to national learning standards and offers a wide range of opportunities for all ability levels for kids 10 years old and up. Our local classes uses a children's sewing curriculum, while our online classes uses commercial patterns. Stud
ents learn hand and machine sewing, sewing vocabulary and techniques, and various equipment and and safety usage. We host a small, friendly, relaxed setting which is what I find allows children to have the courage to explore, make mistakes, and discover their talents.

My Crafty Table isn't just for kids! I welcome adults who are looking to learn to sew or enhance their current skills. Whether you are looking to create something to wear or something to beautify your home, we can teach you how to bring your ideas to reality. Our online and live classes utilize commercial patterns, sewing machines, and a variety of supplies based on projects being completed. We guide you every step of the way from selecting materials to recommending supplies. The only question you need to answer now is: SEW what"s next?

I enrolled my 11-year old daughter in Felicia's Saturday sewing class. Because the lesson is some distance from our house, I stuck around and observed the lessons. Felicia is unfailingly patient, kind and unhurried. She does not jump in and take over if something goes wrong; she teaches the child to cut, measure, stitch, etc. and expects the child to master and complete the task alone. Her classes are fun and my daughter has taken a real interest in sewing.

I'm hoping to get to work with students who want to dive right into mastering their camera and all it has to offer, whether we're shooting on film or digital, both of which I can offer instruction in. Learning to be in absolute control of your camera and how your settings will affect your photos is key to creating your images & making sure they come out exactly the way you envision them. Our time together will be a full immersion into light-writing. Over the years, I have had approximately 4 years of cumulative formal instruction on the subject, and have been freelancing since 2011, for events such as weddings, anniversaries, baby/bridal showers, graduation and engagement photos, live concerts, and just about anything else you can think of. Previously a Photography student of Daytona State College in Florida, I made the move up to Chicago
in 2015, and am currently studying at Harold Washington College. In the spring I will graduate with my Art Studio AFA. I genuinely look forward to any time spent with someone with a desire to hone their craft, and hope to bring more inspiration to those wanting to bring forth their vision. Aside from photography, I also teach a handful of other subjects that you or someone else may be interested in!

Now I occasionally translate documents and help opera singers with their pronunciation & understanding of French lyrics. I also have a couple of students and I would like to share my love for the French language and culture with more people through fun exercises and conversations!

About Victoria
Hi my name is Victoria and I am a fiber artist focused on 3D floral designs and patterns. My fascination with needle lace in 2015 bloomed into a skilled craft I started to pursue full-time at the end of 2017.

I like to think of needle lace as the forgotten ancestor of knitting and crochet. Handmade lace is formed by creating a sequence of tiny knots using fine thread and tapestry needles. The result of using very fine thread gives the lace flowers a more delicate look.

My days are usually spent exploring new ideas to create original flower patterns. I spend lots of time going through thousands of experiments with different threads, wires, beads, and needles to understand what is possible in needle lace designs.

In the last few months I discovered a community of English speakers that wish to learn the art but had trouble finding
resources. Since then, I started to write a book on learning needle lace, invested in video equipment to create video lessons, launched my own website - Flowers in Threads, and partnered with a wonderful local/online craft store- Tatting Corner in Indiana, to teach at their workshop events. I currently meet locally with students in downtown Chicago, and offer online courses for those who are not in the Midwest.

Lacework by hand is a labor of love and skill. It requires good dexterity and patience to work with fine threads and needles. It is a great craft to try and can be meditative.

First introduced to the game of chess as a child, I quickly developed a deep appreciation and advanced skill. While tutoring and mentoring youth in Newport News, Virginia, during my collegiate study, I witnessed the instantaneous attraction and powerful impact the game of chess had on children and youth of all ages. What became immediately clear and rewarding, as a coach, were the abundant opportunities for critical thinking exercise and the opportunities for challenging deep thought around the immediate impact of choices.

After graduating from Hampton University in 2014, I applied my analytical skills while in the corporate sector, and later developed and facilitated college preparatory programs while working for a non-profit origination. My deep appreciation for the game and my passion for encouraging critical thinking among youth, le
ad me back to my love of delivering chess instruction and mentoring throughout the Chicagoland area.

I began offering group and private sessions with a double-pronged approach. While his lessons aim to share the foundation and challenging practice opportunity for the game itself, I also utilize the game as a mentoring tool. I encourage participants to explore the correlation of the principals which drive the game that are analogous to the cause and effect of life choices and the causal factors impacting various success moves or challenging moves and the outcomes in the game.

I hold a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration, Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification, and is a certified Local Chess Coach from the US Chess Federation.
