Classical Voice Lessons in River Forest. Amazing Teachers.

Experienced vocal teacher of 10years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of music theory, sight reading, technique, and stylistic skills. I specialize in classical and musical theatre, typically use Music Theatre Anthology and Schirmer books, and also have the following tools available to use during lessons: piano, extensive musical library, iPad with YouTube and numerous other musical apps, quarterly group lessons, bi-annual recitals.

Students will work on vocal technique, both through vocal exercises and through application to repertoire. Genres covered include anything to classical repertoire to musical theater to pop-style singing. All of my training will be from a classical standpoint, because it is my belief that this is the basis for all healthy singing, regardless of the genre.

Singing is joy and my approach uses positive physical, psychological and emotional feedback to unlock the potential a free voice can realize. The exercises are clear and accessible and they lead to gains in power, clarity and range. After earning my teaching degree (in high school math of all things) I embarked on a 30-year career that took me all over the world. However, it was not until I discovered the work of W. Stephen Smith that I truly began to see the true possibilities of my voice. I want to give to students what I never had all those years - a reliable technique and a way to give voice to all the beauty of the music we want to share with the world.
