About Michael
Expressing yourself is the ultimate goal of music and my job is to help you get your point across!

Like any musician, music is my life.
I love to soak it in any way I can! Whether it be listening to records, jamming with my friends or watching all the live concert footage of Stevie Ray Vaughan I can get my hands on.

I graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a Bachelor’s of Art in Music with a concentration on guitar performance. Throughout my undergraduate studies I performed in various ensembles within the college’s curriculum. Currently, my solo project gives me the opportunity to continue to grow through writing and performing my own original pieces. Throughout my career I have had the honor of performing with renowned songwriters Todd Rundgren and Charlie Sexton as well as being mentored by jazz drummer Frank Donaldson of
The Ramsey Lewis Quartet.

*** Lesson Details ***

Studying at the college level taught me a lot about what not to do as a teacher. The material is already difficult enough, so why would I be difficult with you?

I strive to be more of a mentor and friend rather than taskmaster. However, I do require structure and commitment to getting better. My curriculum will revolve around you and your needs with added material that I feel will help you succeed.

A typical lesson plan includes:

 physical technique

 chord and scale knowledge,

 soloing concepts

 and tying all of these ideas together by learning a song in a genre you love!

All of these concepts culminate in the discovery of your own personal voice!

*** Studio Equipment ***
My teaching studio is just steps away from the Belmont Blue Line stop! Our lessons will be held in a private practice space in my home. The large room has multiple amps and guitars, so there is no need to bring an instrument for lessons if you don't want to! (But, you do need an instrument to practice with outside of our lessons!)

About Teresa
I am a graduate of Northern IL University with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. I have 22 years of teaching experience where I have traveled to the homes. Students enjoy my passion that I have with the instrument.

I started teaching in 1991 and have been teaching several students since then. Attending teacher workshops keep me at a current updated level and I want to help the students learn to the best of their potential.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am very thorough in my teaching, which includes lesson, theory, technique, and performance
methods. I use a very easy, flexible approach when it comes to the kids and their personalities. I expect a lot out of my students, yet still want them to learn and have fun.
After three months with me, they will have learned how my teaching style is and will be able to play several
children's songs.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I don't provide any equipment when I travel except their books for the first lesson. I would expect the student to have a well tuned piano or a basic keyboard. The student also needs a notebook so I can write their homework down for them as well as myself to keep track of where the student is in their progress.[

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in teaching Alfred, Bastien, and Faber and Faber. I teach General Music, Classical, Jazz, and Popular. I teach mainly through the method books, and then use other supplementary materials as well..

About Patrick
I have accumulated a wealth of experience working with a diverse group of students as a current music teacher at a private studio. My roster ranges from the smallest grade school student hoping to play just like their favorite pop star to elderly retirees seeking to undertake a new challenge. Despite the variety of learners, I provided a quality service with a personalized, yet pragmatic lesson plan. I carefully selected different curricula based on the individual needs of my student, at times implementing materials that I had created myself. At the same time, I made sure to incorporate the songs and techniques that a student requested. I sought to create a curriculum that would not only enable them to learn their favorite songs, but one that would also teach them the proper technique and importance of practice. By using this method, I ha
ve inspired several of my students to pursue music at every level-as a career or as a personal passion.

I had an amazing experience with Patrick. He taught me so much about music theory and performance, but also found a way to incorporate my own interests into the lesson. Each session felt very personal. He seems very enthusiastic about his students and genuinely cares about them.

I have worked with Patrick for several years and he is just outstanding. He is very interactive and balances the need to work on fundamentals with the desire of the student to play advanced material. I would recommend Patrick for anyone who is serious about playing guitar or bass.

I began taking lessons from Lana in October 2016, after 50 years of being away from the piano. Who would have thought that learning to play again in my retirement years would bring such joy! I am learning to play classical, popular, holiday classics and looking forward to learning blues and jazz! My THANKS to Lana, who is a very knowledgeable and patient teacher, as well as an accomplished and gifted musician. She knows how to make learning fun.

I'm a first time piano student at a ripe golden age that thought I wouldn't have to learn to read notes...haha! I was apprehensive about taking piano lessons at this stage of life. Lana is the best...she is patient, challenging, supportive, and makes learning fun. She starts you off with songs you enjoy playing and builds to a variety. I've only been playing for a short time and I already have a great mix of popular songs and now moving into classical. She even made learning notes fun with an app she found. You learn and play at your own pace. I've seen her interact with young and old and am impressed with her aptitude of working with each person at their unique skill level. I love learning piano from Lana and I would recommend her to people and children of all ages.

About Jeff
My Lessons are customized in a number of ways to create the ideal experience for each student and family.

• Curriculum adheres to student and parent generated long-term goals
• Musical arrangements and accompaniments are created to accommodate individual interests
• Students can learn a variety of skills such as improvisation, effective practice habits, music composition, and many others
• Students have the option to explore multiple instruments.
• Instruction accommodates different learning styles and strengths.

Much of today’s music is created or altered through digital means. For this reason students of all ages should consider exploring different ways to interact with digital music in their lessons such as:

• layering multiple audio tracks,
• creating digital accompaniments to play along to
• looping, editing, and
adding effects to recorded audio

These aspects of a lesson not only better prepare students for the likely future of music but it also makes lessons more exciting, creative, and fun!

As a recent graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, I have been playing guitar since the 4th grade. I remember taking lessons from several teachers in the beggining, however it wasn't until a certain teacher that things started to click, and all of a sudden I was inspired to become the guitar player I am today. I strive to inspire my students and make music fun, challenging and exciting for my students.

Whether you are an absolute begginer with no experience holding a guitar, or an advanced student lookin to explore advanced harmonic and rhythmic concepts, I have what it takes to teach you. I have experience teaching young children teenagers and adults through various music schools.

I am also a working musician and perform with several bands in the genres of R&B/Gospel, Jazz, Singer Somgwriter and Solo Guitar. I maintain a bus
y schedule as a performer, bandleader, and sideman however I have found teaching to be one of the most rewarding things I do musically. When a student succeeds and I see the light bulb go off in his/her head I become excited. Music is truly one of he greatest gifts in mankind and I have great joy in passing along knowledge to my students.

I can teach students to read music and pursue excellence, to learn how to play contemporary music using chord sheets, or both depending on the goals and preference of the student while stressing the importance of training the ear, which is where the confidence lies .Using methods that enables musicians to play what they actually conceive rather than bore their listeners with licks and "notes that work. "I'm not gigging currently, but being versatile , experienced and having formal training helps to make a learning experience easy, stress free and fun, and, that is especially what beginning and aspiring students need.
Some of the musical styles I regularly teach: Rock, Hard Rock, Blues, Jazz, Funk, Soul, R&B, Classical.
