I like to craft a lesson plan that revolves around the interest of the student. If you like country but not funk, we'll focus heavy on country and not do any funk. If you want to focus on theory, we will. If you don't want to learn "hot crossed buns" we won't. Let me know the music you like and what you want to accomplish and we can go from there!

About Ryan

Hello! My name is Ryan and I play guitar/sing/write/record with local alternative rock/jam band, Lunar Ticks. I also am a guitarist with the all improvised cover band, Fate Nite. I also book shows, produce a comedy show, started a podcast, write for a local music publication, have spoken at schools

Great first day!
Jim
I recently started taking lessons with Kenny to try to learn some basic lead guitar in a one on one setting. I've been very impressed with his preparation, taking the time to tailor the lesson to my level of play and the music I am interested in playing. He also is very encouraging and is interested in my learning and progress, even going beyond the one hour lesson time to ensure that I have the tools necessary to continue to work at home.

I am a Brazilian guitar player who started by playing blues and rock on the electric guitar, and then moved into Samba, Bossa Nova and fingerstyle on the nylon-string guitar. Today, I play mostly Latin styles and a little bit of Flamenco. I also have a year of conservatory training under my belt, as well as a background in West African percussion, and culminate all of these styles together as a composer.

As a teacher, I cater to your aptitude and your goals and make sure that you are having fun while you grow. That means learning actual repertoire of music that you want to study. Some students want more music theory than others: and that's totally fine! But I like to always have a song as a context to study that theory. Afterall, we want to use theory to actually make music!

About Thomas

My name is Tomas. I am a Brazilian-American polyglot musician and language instructor. I play music and teach English/Portuguese for a living, and have been doing so for the past 7 years! I also learned Spanish and French through music, so I know a lot about those languages and the styles of music

About Gabriel

Most beginners I’ve encountered have no idea what they want to play or even why. my suggestion is before coming to your teacher pinpoint the what and the why. Why did you want to learn guitar? Was it a song, or a really cool sounding riff? Did you see someone play live and feel like “I could do th

5 Ways To Prepare For Bluegrass Guitar Lessons

Starting bluegrass guitar lessons is fun and exciting, and odds are you'll have a lot to learn! Guitar teacher Samuel B. shares a few things you'll want to do before you get started... Bluegrass is as much a piece of American musical culture as jazz, blues, country, gospel and early rock and roll. All of these styles (save for jazz) are based on the same three chords: C, F and G7th. Three of these styles (blues, country and gospel) are based on a slow rhythm that allows the guitarist room to …
