About Arnell
I've always loved to sing from my earliest remembrance along with a love for the piano and a desire to play. I attended Academy of Our Lady - High School where I took four years of piano as well as vocal instruction. I performed with a group called The Madrigals as a 'high soprano' during those years. I further attended Wheaton College, attained a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in music. I was educated musically through Wheaton's Conservatory of Music. I studied piano, voice, theory, music history, music appreciation, and sight singing to name a few. I auditioned, performed, and traveled with the Women's Glee Club.
Since then, I served as the worship leader in church setting. I was responsible for music selection, accompaniment, and vocal coaching for our worship team. I've also worked as a facilitator in an after school program.
There, I worked with students on an individual as well as group basis. I led a youth choir that traveled and performed for local nursing home residents. I also taught music appreciation and a fitness/movement class incorporating various genres of music.
Throughout the years I've had may opportunities to work with students one-on-one in piano and vocal instruction and performance. Overall, I am very passionate about music. Whether its listening, singing, playing or helping someone develop or grow in their talent, I simply love it!
Now, I'd be honored to work with you. I am comfortable working with beginners to intermediate in both piano and voice, ages 5 and up. As partners, this is a dual effort. I will do my best to find and utilize the most effective ways/methods to coach and assist you in reaching your piano or vocal goals. I will expect you to give your best effort consistently to get there one step at a time.

*** Lesson Details ***
When it comes to lessons, I am a pleasant, approachable person. I enjoy laughter and believe it is a healthy response even when things are difficult.

In piano, I can help you learn the basics of playing such as note recognition, scales, chord formation, ear development and form a foundation that you can build upon progressively. In voice, I can help you develop good breathing, posture, tone, diction and expression. I am excited to work with whatever singing style that interests you most. Opera is my only exception at this point.
I offer training in classical music to use as a foundation for any other genre of music that interests you.

In general, I prefer to use well-balanced methods that incorporate theory along with the mechanics of learning. I believe in using tools, games,or aids that make learning fun, especially for the young beginner. The method used will depend upon the goals and needs of the student.

*** Studio Equipment ***
The In-Studio lessons are taught in the living room with a piano and seating. No pets. Parking in driveway or on street.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I do not travel with any equipment - except books/curriculum as needed.
I expect my student to provide a lesson notebook, and equipment, piano, microphone, amplifier as required.

*** Specialties ***
Genres - Classical, Contemporary Christian

About Margo
Are you ready to fall in love with your voice? Are you ready for something different? If your voice isn’t becoming to you, YOU should be coming to ME!

I know what it's like to be frustrated with boring exercises and processes that seem to take a lot of time but yield no results. That's why I decided to teach: DIFFERENTLY!

I've invested a lot of time, energy, emotion and $$$ on big-name schools and "experts", to only be disappointed with what I was taught because a lot of the information or techniques the assigned simply didn't apply to me or my goals.

I make sure that my students are not disappointed and I offer GUARANTEED RESULTS and a lot of fun!

I have been the private vocal coach for multiple contestants on American Idol, America's Got Talent, The Voice and several other vocal competitions spanning over 10 countries
. I also train business owners, salespeople and those who are simply terrified to present themselves in the art of public speaking.

This is NOT your average coaching session! This is for those who are ready to finally overcome the world’s #1 fear: PUBLIC PERFORMANCE.
Get ready to present yourself, business, product or service with confidence, personality and effectiveness.

My lighthearted and humorous approach to seemingly stressful situations, especially in the public performance sector, have made me a highly sought-after coach for one-on-one and group training.

My approach is designed to train and condition the entire body as an instrument, not just the oral portion of the voice. My 5-octave vocal range allows me to easily instruct my students in developing their whistle register (see special pricing for whistle training). I have been trained in (and teach) Classical, Appoggio, jazz/improv, Seth Riggs' speech-level singing and other methodologies of singing and speaking.

My method of assessing and meeting the needs of each student enables me to assist them in bringing out the very best in their capabilities. If you desire quality, effectiveness and noticeable improvement in your singing, writing, public speaking or overall performance, I am the coach for you!
Whether you are a beginner or professional, I make sure that you are comfortable and have a great time while learning. I am flexible with your needs so feel free to let me know what you want from your lessons and we can work towards your goal to your satisfaction.

Not only am I a coach, I’m a professional singer and public speaker, so I utilize and perfect my own techniques on a regular basis. I have the privilege of being a classically-trained pianist and vocalist, having studied at Sherwood Conservatory of Music, Vandercook College of Music, The Second City, University of Chicago, ETA Performing Arts Center and many other fine institutions.

Children love working with me because I make learning fun and they have a high retention rate of the techniques that I teach them. I am easygoing, funny and offer a minimalist, casual and relaxed environment for everyone. My adult students have a blast because our lessons feel more like a friendly visit with lighthearted humor.

*** Lesson Details ***
Each lesson is tailor-made to suit the student's individual needs. Custom action plan will be given to each student on a case-by-case basis. No instruments are used in my lessons, as I train the voice to be a standalone instrument. However, if you would like to accompany yourself with a guitar, piano or percussion instrument, you are very welcome to do so.

I am available 24 hours a day for online coaching and as early as 6:00 am CST for in-person sessions.

*Please note that 15-minute sessions are ONLY available online. In-person sessions must be a minimum of 30 minutes. 31 and 61-minute sessions are ONLY for whistle register training.

Online Disclaimer:
When choosing online lessons, please make sure that your system is functioning properly, that you know how to use the platform, that you have a good internet connection and that you are logged in on time, as no concessions will be made for time used due to technical difficulties.

Timing Disclaimer:
Our time together is very valuable. If you are not on time for your session, the missed portion will not be made up at the end of the session. If I am not on time, I will make up the missed portion at the end of the session or alternate agreed-upon time. No exceptions or make-up sessions will be made for illness, weather, transportation issues (including car trouble), or any other short-notice reason. Rescheduled lessons must be made a minimum of 48 hours in advance and must be made up within the calendar week of the original lesson. Aaron Short is one of the best technical singers I’ve ever heard and that’s his second best quality as a teacher. The best quality is that he is such a warm, kind man who put me in a mindset to grow. He’s not like a lot of other teachers with big egos and mind games- he just loves music and singing. I would HIGHLY recommend working with him if at all possible- you’ll be able to say “I knew him back when” after huge becomes the next Pavarotti.

It is a common phenomenon that beginner players take lessons with a local teacher who may not be an expert or vastly knowledgeable. Thus, my observation is that vast majority (more than 90%) of beginning music students fall into the trap of learning to play violin without proper foundation.

Here are some things you should consider while looking for a teacher:

· Good education and high level of artistry of the teacher are important especially for beginners.

· Your teacher should be inspiring! Both musically and in daily life. My teachers who’ve influenced me the most are my role models in music and life.

· Music teachers often teach numerous instruments, but it is impossible to teach good foundations when the teacher is a Jack of all trades, master of none.

· Great teachers give you undivided attention and are persistent.

· Lessons should be non-judgmental learning space.

As a violinist whose earliest years were filled with musical inspiration, but without appropriate guidance, I’ve spent a lot of time analyzing what it takes to play violin well. It is my sincere hope to teach my students from the get-go with both inspiration and structured technique.
