Hi! My name is Michael D. and I have been teaching voice lessons and singing professionally for about 7 years now. I use a wholistic method (using breath techniques and the natural speaking voice) to liberate students' unique and special vocal qualities, and have learned how to train singers to sing in any genre, from classical and opera to broadway, pop and jazz. Send me a message and let's talk!!

About Michael

I am a professional singer, pianist and voice teacher based in northern Illinois. I attended the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music where I earned a bachelor's degree in music education as well as bachelor's and master's degrees in vocal performance. Since graduating from IU, I have sung a

Michael has an eclectic and holistic approach to vocal lessons. He's humbling, approachable for a complete beginner like myself, and intuitive about making the needed adjustments in lessons. His feedback is incredibly constructive and helpful. His teaching style fits very well with my learning and I can honestly say these lessons are some of the best parts of my week. I'm learning more than just vocal lessons, I'm learning more about how I tell a story through singing. I cannot say enough positive things about Michael! I would 100% recommend lessons with him!

I have been teaching voice lessons since I was in college! People kept asking me to teach them, so I did. I teach both classical and musical theatre singing, so if you would like to learn to belt or sing in Italian, I can help! I am experienced in French, Italian and German diction. For musical theatre, I teach both classical style (high voice) and belt (lower voice). I have a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities with a Music emphasis, so I can also help with aural skills like counting systems and solfege. Solfege will help A TON if you want to pursue music in college. For younger singers, I can help with picking appropriately ranged songs to build vocal agility and strength.

About NIcholette

I take a very positive approach to teaching. I'll encourage you and guide you to reach your fullest potential, whatever your goals are. I focus a lot on technique(breath, sound, vowels and vocalization) because that is foundational for everyone and it will help you no matter what you want to achiev

I have coached with some of the best in LA, NYC and West Palm Beach and am ready to share! Classical voice is a serious business but that doesn't mean it can't be loads of fun! Let's get that voice free from top to bottom. When it's free you can use it to express all the things your artist soul is longing to say!

This is my first experience with having singing lessons after many years of doing my own version of "Carpool Karaoke." Tania has been wonderful. She is very encouraging and makes it a safe singing environment for a novice. I have just signed up for 5 more lessons. (And her cats are very cute too.)

During my time with students, I strive to assist them in taking risks, discovering the joy of music, and making progress with their singing. No matter what their goals are- All-State Choir, opera, musical theatre, or just having fun, I love helping them reach them. By looking at different genres of vocal music, we will focus on many different aspects of singing, from music theory, to expressive performance, to the foundation of healthy singing.

I believe that every student is unique and learns in his or her own way. Therefore, I tailor the pace and focus of lessons on each student’s interests and abilities. I believe it is integral for all students to have an understanding of music theory and therefore, work on theory and sight-reading. In addition, I think a well-rounded musical education is key, and work on an array of genres with my students including folk songs, art songs, and musical theatre. Students will work on 2-5 songs at once, and will consider a song "learned" once ...

At the age of 4 I began producing musicals in my basement with my sister. This progressed to acting classes, piano lessons, and eventually the school musical in sixth grade. I began taking voice lessons when I was in eighth grade and have never looked back. Through high school, I focused on both cl

Meg is a great teacher who is extremely attentive to each person's unique voice. She doesn't try to force any particular technique or style, but it responsive to what works for each individual and where they are at in terms of experience and comfort with singing. She brings an overflowing tool kit of techniques and knowledge about the voice and body and uses them creatively and effectively to help her students produce their best sounds. I've been working with her for almost a year now and highly recommend her as a teacher!

"I am a retired professor. It is always my dream to be able to sing some day, but I was intimidated by the technical requirements involved in singing until I met Linda. She is a wonderful singing coach, knowledgeable, honest, patient, and inspiring at the same time. Not only she has amazing voice, but also has very good ear and can immediately tell whenever one is off tune or not. Linda combines rigorous demand for perfection with warm encouragement and repeated demonstration of how to improve. I am blessed that I had her as my coach. After having just taken a course on bel canto offered by her recently, I feel that I really have learnt enormously about breathing, resonance, vibration, Italian pronunciation, and several beautiful songs, among others. I most strongly recommend Linda without any reservation to any one who is thinking to learn how to sing."

8 Beautiful Opera Arias for Beginner Singers

It is always exciting when a vocal student is ready to start studying his or her first operatic aria! One of the best things about being a classical singer is knowing you have so many great years ahead of you. After all, you’re considered in your prime in your 40s. That being said, realize that the voice you have now and the repertoire you’ll first study will be very, very different from what you sing later on in your career. It’s absolutely crucial that you sing repertoire that is …
