Hi! My name is T.J. and I am a professional drummer and educator currently living in Forest Park, IL. I received my B.A. in Jazz Studies from Elmhurst College in the Spring of 2019. I have been playing professionally in Chicago and it's surrounding suburbs for over five years now, and have played the drum set for 13 years.

I am very passionate about my craft, and absolutely love spreading that knowledge with others and inspiring them to the best of my ability. I am well versed in many styles, including Rock, Jazz,, Fusion, Funk, World Music, and Classical Percussion.

I am active in many bands, such as Instrumental Rock/Fusion band Elysian Green and Folk/Rock band Fleeting Suns (check either out on spotify!) I've been lucky enough to record and share the stage with famous Chicago musicians, such as Chris Siebold, Mark Colby, Frank Caruso, Jeremy Khan, and Marlene Rosenberg, among others. Some less-local musicians include Mike Stern, Randy Brecker, Sean Jones, and Matt ...

About TJ

My goal as an educator is to give my students the tools to allow them to play in a way that makes them feel accomplished and brings them joy. I am very serious about teaching the fundamentals of drumming, as it allows you to begin learning self-sufficiently, and that way you can keep learning in a s

I was out of town when my 15-year old son had his lesson with Kevin, so I sent a text to my son to find out how it went. "He is the best guitar teacher ever!!" my son replied. I think that says it all.

Listening to our favorite songs is a good way to learn how to play an instrument, it gives a familiar count and sound that we can connect to! Music is simple but fun so our sessions will always revolve around repetitive lessons ,BPM , counting, rhythm, and listening to many many songs and playing them!

Richard gave my son, who never played drums before lessons. He thought him how to practice correctly for better results. Richard is a great teacher because my son now plays in Jazz band at school. Hire Richard for great results.

Richard taught my son drum lessons while Jake was in college a few years ago in Atlanta, Ga. He gave him a great foundation to build from, teaching him rudiments on the snare and applied it to the drum kit. My son really enjoyed learning from him, he says its because Richard challenged him but always made it fun! Jake continues to play today with a band he formed!
Richard is a true professional, has pro chops and is very personable. He's a great drummer and just a great guy! Highly recommended!!

Experienced teacher and performer. I teach at the college level all the way down to youngsters (5 year old minimum age for me). I LOVE music and playing the drums and I'd like to share my experience with YOU!

As a performer I've toured the country multiple times with various artists, sometimes playing to crowds as large as 7,000. I've been on dozens of recording sessions and I've performed in just about anything type of venue you can imagine.

As a teacher I've maintained a roster of private students for over 10 years while also teaching as adjunct faculty for multiple colleges in Massachusetts. Additionally, I have a music therapy background which has shaped and informed my teaching style.

My favorite genres are jazz, rock, R&B, country, metal, basically anything with rhythm! Lets connect and get you moving forward on your instrument.

About Patrick

A strongly devoted musical student throughout his grade school years, Patrick came to Boston in 2004 to study at Berklee College of Music. He is currently a multi-instrumentalist and music educator in the Boston area, touring with multiple New England groups. With a diverse background and teaching

Dave is able to work with me, a beginner, and provide me with enough challenge so that I keep learning and also keep interested in drums. Over time, while the stronger hand gets better control and technique, the weaker hand just gets... well, weaker and weaker. But just like switch hitters are invaluable players on a baseball team, learning how to build strength in your weaker hand can make you a much more efficient drummer. …

3 Hand-Eye Coordination Exercises for Drummers

Whether you're a beginner or an intermediate drummer, good hand-eye coordination will help you develop accuracy and control. Here are some tips from music teacher Tracy D., to help you improve your hand-eye coordination... When you're learning drums, you need to watch and sense where your hands are in relation to the kit.
