I believe that singing is part of the human experience. A lot of people don't know where to start, or maybe they've lost touch with their own voice. That's why I'm here. I'll take you from whatever level you're at, whether you're a complete beginner to a young professional, and help your voice grow and develop healthily.

A lot of people with my level of training and experience don't have the patience that I have to work with novice singers. Which, I love to do.

Most recently (before the pandemic), I sang at Carnegie Hall, with the New York Philharmonic, and the Hawaii Opera Theatre.

About Samuel

Hi there! I'm Sam. I'm a self proclaimed beach bum and foodie when I'm not singing. I love teaching people. It brings me so much joy to see the progress in my students. The whole process of finding creative ways to teach different people is rewarding. Originally from the California Bay Area, I got

I'v been casually singing my whole life long and I recently decided to try to do it right. I've been taking remote lessons with Sam for a few months now and it's been truly helpful. Many of the concepts are very new to me, but Sam has done a great job explaining things, sometimes from a few different perspectives, and I can feel things slipping into place.

Singing concepts that have eluded me are finally starting to make sense. For example a few weeks back at rehearsal with the trio (I sing and play bass) I noticed myself using my diaphragm to support my singing in ways I'd never been able to before.

Before lessons with Sam I've never been able to understand the various singing voices everyone talks about (head voice, chest voice, etc.). However just last week in lessons I was able to not only identify my bad habit of singing nasally, but I'm finally making progress on correcting it!

Sam's approach to explaining concepts has worked well for me, I'd recommend him to anyone who wants an involved teacher who patiently works with you to find your best voice!

Hello! My name is Chambers Giblin, I am 26 years old, I grew up in Denver, and I am excited to help you learn an instrument I have loved my entire life. I am new to teaching, but I have played classical and blues/jazz piano for over 15 years. I would be best suited for a beginner or intermediate student of any age, that is looking to receive a well-rounded education in playing and performing.

In a lesson, I will prioritize learning by playing. I believe reading music, chords, scales, and theory are all tools to get us to the final goal of comfortably performing and sharing our talents. With me, you can expect to three things: 1- you will find pieces you are excited to learn; 2- I will provide guidance and a framework for learning, not only the mechanics of playing, but also the “why” or theory behind a piece that will allow you to understand (and eventually compose) music; and finally 3 - a fun and productive environment to learn. After all, this is an exercise in self development ...

It was only a first lesson but I can already tell I'm going to be taking more lessons with Daniel. He's very knowledgeable, patient, and dedicated. He detailed a specific plan for me to work on that isn't too rigid or boring, I'm looking forward to relearning the flute with him.

Dr. Orna is so patient and makes sure all of the children understand. Dr. Orna's classes are full of fundamentals and fun. The crafts are exciting for the children to make and they even make toys in some classes. We were very lucky to find Dr. Orna during the pandemic...I don't feel like my child missed out on any science learning and my learner has been exposed to many science topics from Astronomy to Zoology 5-stars 100% recommended.

Dr. Orna is a wonder teacher. She makes physics interesting, exciting, and understandable for young learners. We have taken several of her classes and are very impressed with her ability to teach complex subjects to our daughter. We love how she uses hands on experiments and projects to teach these concepts and she does not shy away from using the proper scientific terms with our young ones. She teaches in a respectful and engaging way.

"Christian came to my school to work discuss with students what it takes to be an actor. He shared many insights he has learned along the way, and gave them a ton of information about the pros and cons of the industry. He was an extremely dynamic speaker and the student were highly engaged throughout the lesson. They were able to ask him questions and he answered them in ways they could understand. He was so amazing, I keep asking him to come back!"

"First off. Just want to say that we had to cancel our first session. However, I really like this guy because he had kept it real and set it straight on the reason why the session was cancel. He was very sick that day and he didn't want to be involved with the session not being at 100%. Respect! I wouldn't have wanted him not being at his best either. Takes alot of guts for a person to confess that. I really appreciated the honesty because that explains how passionate Randy is about the craft.
Second of all, when we did our first session, I had to deal with a rough technical patch of trying g to join in for the session. He had no problem helping me with this technical glitch rather than allowing TakeLessons (who I was unable to reach because of matainace issues), to handle it. He helped 5he TakeLessons team. A plus Randy! Though I had to finally use another device to finally join the session, Randy was still willing to have patience and help me with the tech problem.
Lastly, Randy brought a warm feeling to the session and yet sincere. He made me feel welcomed, which opened me up more during this session. This helped because I am uncomfortable with improv but want to get better. He understood this and gave a real honest approach. Also, he informed me that we were going to get a gist of my performance level and work from there. Furthermore, we were going to ease our way into improvement. This gave me alot more balance than other improv classes. He is even willing to give me a little homework that I can practice in prep for next week.
Randy is very encouraging and I enjoyed our first session. I'm exited for next week!"

Acting Tips: What's in your Toolbox?

As with any profession, actors have tools. Just as a doctor needs a stethoscope or a fireman needs a hose, there are certain items an actor must keep in their toolbox. I usually start classes or lessons by asking my new students or clients what they think these tools might be. Sometimes, the answer is very literal ("Script!"), and other times abstract ("Passion!"). None of these is a wrong answer. Being an actor or artist is subjective and everyone's process is different and valid. But t …
