I am completely new to playing an instrument and Will taught me an incredible amount... from playing the instrument, to understanding
Jon teaches his lessons out of a dedicated music studio attached to his home. This studio is professional in appearance and large enough for group practices, yet private enough to have great sound for an individual player. The parking lot just yards from the private dedicated entrance is easy accessible and in a safe neighborhood.
With all the options available for guitar lessons Jon Kapity is a solid choice. I have had the privilege of learning from him for the past 6 months and look forward to our continued relationship and to bringing my young son when he is older.

I currently teach private guitar lessons, sing and play guitar in the Chicago rock band Dead Parade, and transcribe music professionally for a wide variety of clients. Occasionally, I write articles or do interviews that appear in magazines such as Guitar World. In the past, I worked for 8 years as a guitar teacher, transcriber, consultant, and free-lance writer for a popular subscription guitar site. I also served as a guitar instructor/lecturer at Capital University's Community Music School under the direction of renowned music educator Dr. Rebecca Johnson. Over the duration of my 18 year teaching career, I have taught over 1000 students of all ages and levels of experience.

While I am a highly trained singer that can sing anything: Pop, Rock, Church Songs, Broadway, Opera, etc. - I am NOT the best accompanist. As long as you are fine working on songs with a pre-recorded accompaniment track, or a capella - I'm the teacher for you!
I'm also lucky enough to be a successful working actor and have been a paid musical theatre performer in the Chicago-land area for the past 13 years. That being said, I will occasionally have auditions or rehearsals. Because of this, I try to keep my prices affordable in exchang
I'm also a former cast member of Walt Disney World and am a skilled puppeteer. I'm a funny / nerdy / silly teacher, so all levels of students will feel welcome. I look forward to teaching you! :)

I grew up playing jazz, soul, R&B, folk, reggae, ska, funk, and classical music. I feel very comfortable working within all of these genres in both performance and educational atmospheres.
Regardless of age, learning a new instrument or art form can be daunting, so I like to include some sort of entertaining activities to keep tension low and inspiration high.

I've always believed that anyone can develop musical talent once the correct learning environment is set up. Growing up learning the Suzuki Method, I combine these concepts with the many other vital ideas in violin pedagogy. When teaching, my responsibilities include inspiring the child and advising the parent so our goals can be accomplished during the week. I adapt my teaching style to suit the needs of each student, so I can keep my students interested in playing and motivated by their own accomplishments.
Learning the violin is dynamic and full of creativity and problem solving. We are at the same time d
Whether the violin is an interest, hobby or something you want to pursue professionally, I'll always give you the best advice and training to achieve your personal goals.
My current private students have had great success in studio recitals, auditions and becoming confident in their own musical ability. I'll always bring a positive and encouraging attitude to tackle any obstacle in your playing.
I play trumpet for Chicago based soul/funk band Bassel and the SupernaturaIs, and I have performed at venues such as the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., the North Sea Jazz Festival in the Netherlands, Summerfest Music Festival in Milwaukee, and Chicago favorites such as the Green Mill, Andy's Jazz Club, and The Jazz Showcase.

Students will reach their musical goals, and end up finding new musical goals on the way. I teach all genres of music, all ages, from beginner to advanced.
I incorporate basic classical principles into any genre, so that my students understand music in a broader sense. My goal is to train my students to become musicians so that they can understand music, compose their own music, and improvise in any situation.
My personal passion is composing classical music and performing, and I hope to train my students to begin performing and composing themselves someday.

It is helpful to have insight from a professional soprano as to what it takes to meet your singing goals.
She uses targeted exercises to identify what you need to work on most, and is excellent at coming up with different ways of verbalizing something you need to change until it clicks.
While I studied classical techniques with her, she has a wealth of knowledge in musical styles ranging from jazz to musical theater. She will be a supportive teacher no matter what style you want to study, and beneficial for those just beginning or with more experience.
