My Grandson has taken lessons from Carolyn for a few years. He is 11. He has done very well with her. She knows her stuff and is very encouraging to him. She has recitals every 6 months and he has really advanced. I would highly recommend her.
Karen
Three of our children have taken piano lessons from Carolyn. Our oldest son, who has graduated from college, still plays daily. Our other two sons are current students; both began lessons in early grade school.

Mrs. Calahan is patient, kind, and affectionate with her students. She shows a keen interest in encouraging them to succeed, while tolerating their occasional quirks. Our kids have had the opportunity to play classical pieces, jazz, ragtime, show tunes, and popular music. Their piano playing abilities have progressed steadily under Mrs. Calahan's instruction and her unintimidating approach has allowed them to develop an ever-increasing appreciation for music. We are lucky to have found her!
Cynthia
Ms Calahan is an amazing piano instructor and has a great way with kids to make piano fun but also serious enough so your kid(s) will become excellent piano players. My daughter started at age 9 and is now 14 yrs old and continues to get challenged and have with fun with Ms Calahan. She also has piano recitals at the beautiful Steinway gallery in an intimate setting. She keeps the recitals casual so kids don’t feel stressed but still gain the confidence to perform in front of friends, other students and family. My son also took piano lessons from ms. Calahan to gain a foundation and learn how to read music for 2 yrs. this helped prepare him for guitar.

I'm passionate about the arts and love to teach! I have over 18 years of performing arts experience, and 6 years of teaching experience (K-8th grade music, as well as dance and musical theatre camps for kids in my community). I received my Bachelor's degree in 2013, studying Theatre, Music, and Art.

As a teacher, I will tailor my lessons around you, at your own pace, and will do my best to meet your individual needs as a student and performer. After learning what your goals are, I will provide a variety of sides and sheet music for you to prepare and perform. And together, we will do in-depth analysis of the scenes, breaking down every beat and discovering acting tactics, or character objectives. I offer an Audition Prep course as well. So if you enjoy acting, singing, and dancing, then this is the class for you!

"I met Brittany when I joined the Lancaster Chamber Singers a year and a half ago. We both sing in the Soprano section. As a Master’s level music educator myself, I recognize that Brittany has the skills necessary to teach a student, of any age, how to sing with proper breathing and technique.
She not only is an excellent singer, but also a very passionate and caring individual. Brittany babysits my daughter on occasion, and my daughter loves spending time with her. Her communication skills are commendable. She does a very nice job of communicating what she wants in a caring, yet direct manner. She is also fantastic at reading situations and altering her methods accordingly. All of these qualities make Brittany an excellent teacher. I definitely recommend her to anyone seeking to take voice lessons!"

"Ahmad is Awesome! Lessons are a must. Before I started lessons, I would find tabs online and it was fun but I was wasting my time. I wasn't progressing and I didn't have any concept of timing and other essential basics. As a result, I was playing the proper notes but I wasn't playing them correctly and I couldn't improvise at all.

Ahmad takes difficult concepts and breaks them down into small, easy to understand pieces. Harmony concepts that I thought I wouldn't be able to grasp, I understand fully and use every day. He has a ton of tips that make learning so much faster. For instance, you learn how to find any note on the neck quickly without having to memorize the whole neck, which is crucial skill. Another great thing is that he uses tablature in his lessons. So, you don't have to know how to read music to get started.

If you ever want to write your own music or play with other people, call Ahmad now. He will make sure you learn the right way. I'm writing music and playing/improvising solos, at a level I thought I would never be able to achieve. Every lesson opens new possibilities."

Plannig to learn to play the piano was an intimidating feeling. From the begining Javier eased my anxiety. He is very flexible and adjust the lessons to my perofrmance. When I do well we speed on. If I struggle he slows down.

I am so glad I started and that he is my instructor. the experience is encouraging and will probably be the cause for me to continue on for awhile."

"Adam is a teacher par excellence. I am self taught from a well known book. I was doing well I thought until I got stuck. Adam gently showed me where I erred and made great suggestions for me to move on correctly. I never felt rushed or “ put down.” Adam was patient, open for questions, encouraging, comforting. I know I need much help to correct and advance in guitar from matters such as tuning, restringing, reading, and other things too many to write about. I look forward to my next lesson with enthusiasm."
