I have been playing guitar for 21 years. I make lesson plans based on each individual, so I don't teach every one the same boring songs or use the same regiment with everyone. I want to teach you what YOU want to learn.

About Jeremie

I'm a self taught guitarist who has been playing for 20 years. I have played professionally in numerous bands and ensembles ranging from jazz to folk to rock, and I've been writing music for the same length of time. I currently perform with one of my students from TakeLessons named Mackenzie O'Brien

I teach every student the technical skills and applied theory necessary to work in any contemporary style on guitar. I use the "Be better than you have to be" approach. Want to be the best on a bad day? Be better than your chosen style requires. I studied classical and jazz in order to excel at rock, folk and blues.
You will learn to read music and charts for guitar, as well as movable scale patterns, movable chord forms, and how to apply it all to master the fretboard.
Have you hit a road block? I can help. Are you brand new and want to be sure you understand the instrument completely? I can help.

I've been teaching guitar for 5 years helping students develop a love for the instrument and learn more about music along the way. There are many styles I'm comfortable teaching from folk (fingerpicking or flatpicking), rock, blues and funk and I would love working on developing a unique style of your own. Within the first few lessons you'll have a solid base of strumming, picking and chord changes and even a few simple songs under your belt. Moving on from there I will craft lessons to move you toward a "goal song," making sure to cater your progress to your needs while keeping a focus on good technique. I enjoy working with students of all ages and experiences and I can't wait to meet you!

About Ryan

Ryan is a musician from Logan Square who plays a plethora of different instruments. He specializes in guitar, banjo, mandolin and ukulele, but also dabbles in accordion, piano, drums, harmonica and several others. As a student myself I know that everyone has different learning styles. I intend to work with my students to discover their preferred method of learning, and tailor my teaching to it. We will work together to develop your skill in the fields of musicianship, theory, reading sheet music, improvising solos or playing rhythm guitar. Its my goal to create well rounded musicians and have fun doing it.

"Paul is a fabulous instructor!! He is so enthusiastic about what he does and takes his time with our lessons. I have never felt rushed at a lesson and we always use up the entire hour. Paul is also very accommodating when it comes to the practice location. He adjusts his schedule to make it easier for me to commute to the destination of the practice. In addition, Paul picks up music very quickly, so any song you want to learn, he will write the notes down for you and teach you to play it! I highly recommend Paul as an instructor because he is very good at what he does."

"My lesson was very rewarding - excellent instructor , if you have a question he has an answer . He knows the guitar - Mr. Tomas makes you feel at ease , I was having a problem with my short fingers . He told me all the things that I was not doing correct and this was my first lesson - He made me feel really good when I did something right .

I have known Mr . Tomas for a short period of time and believe me if he can teach me and I am 70 years old and I have tired taking lessons before and they never worked out . Mr . Tomas is the person to go with ."

"I am in my 40s and getting back into playing after taking lessons for a year 10 years ago and quitting (like most people). Madyson is very patient and tailors lessons to what her students are into. It has been a mix of both traditional lessons along with just helping me strum my favorite camp fire kind of music making the lessons engaging and allot of fun. Highly recommend for either kids or adults! I find I make myself practice for 10 minutes each night and then 10 minutes becomes 2 hours because I am having so much fun with it thanks to Madyson's great work!"

How to Simplify Your Live Guitar Rig for Performances

Playing the guitar is such a fantastic experience. It’s so relieving to be on stage or in your designated practice space and just wail on your instrument. However, one of the difficulties of being a guitar player is deciding what gear is needed for live performances. We often get trapped in thinking that we must have the biggest and loudest guitar rig for shows, accompanied by a pedalboard equipped with 30+ pedals. Don’t get me wrong, there is something extremely satisfying about plugging in …
