About ENRICO
I am a native Italian speaker with a several years of experience in teaching Italian and English. I am a very easy-going, open-minded, professional person. I like to teach because it gives me the opportunity to meet new students, share my knowledge as well as my culture and experience.

I started tutoring back when I was attending the university in Verona, Italy. I was tutoring English, Math and some other subjects. Later on, I continued teaching English while I was working in other fields. In 2009 I moved to Los Angeles. For a couple of years, I taught ESL in a college, and in the meantime I tutored Italian to private students. Since 2009 I have been tutoring students both on the English and Italian subjects.

I really believe that in teaching, a language a primary focus should be on life skills. Not being an English native-speaker,
I learned how important it is to be able to express basic needs and to perform primary activities. However, it is important to consider other points like grammar, reading, writing. I also think that no matter what a teacher should always take into account the needs of the students and subsequently I plan my classes reflecting on the student's demands.

As to the different approaches and materials that I use, I suppose that it is important to change them frequently in order to keep the classes more interesting. Of course, there are some exceptions. For instance, in the past I taught for a while TOEFL and for that type of classes I used more traditionalist and academic methods and materials.

One of my greatest passion is to cook. I was extremely lucky to be taught and introduced to the art of cooking by my grandmother. She was born at the beginning of the previous century and she lived in different cities so she got accustomed to different traditions and shared them with me. I love to cook for smaller groups, using traditional Italian ingredients to prepare simple, but exquisite dishes that belong to the tradition of my native country. If you want to experience some real Italian food, you are definitely in the right hands. Just sit back, relax sip a glass of Italian wine while I cook for you and I share my art.

From the get go I knew I had found the perfect teacher,
Enrico is a motivating teacher.
He challenges you to learn what you need by reading and discussing interesting materials he sends .it isn't just not doing verbs exercises and tenses but actually participating in actual situations as if you were in Italy .
Enrico quickly helps you get over the nervousness that students experience when reading out loud and discussing the meaning of words in sentences and their uses.

I graduated culinary school in 1996 and I have an AS in Culinary Arts and Restaurant management. My mother was a cook for Marriott and some of my fondest memories were spending time in that kitchen with her.

I used to eat take-out every night and generally felt overwhelmed whenever I walked into the kitchen.
I never knew that cooking could be fun until I met Chef Stevie. She's highly skilled, passionate, has a great sense of humor, and her classes are easy to follow. My cooking ability has definitely grown in our two semesters together.

I had a great time as Chef Stevie and the baking lessons. She had an initial conversation to understand my goals and expertise before creating a plan that was suitable for me. I had previous baking experiences but wanted to push myself beyond the basic comfort levels I was used. The lessons were tailored for me. The lessons became more complex as they progressed but Chef Stevie helped me throughout the entire process. Chef Stevie explained what were doing and to have fun in the process. We made some great baked goods including Buttermilk Biscuits, Whoopie Pies, Double Layer Chocolate Cake with Peanut Butter Filling, Lemon Meringue Pie, Apple Blossoms, Chocolate Eclairs, Hawaiian Sweet Rolls, and my new favorite Chocolate Molten Cake. My friends and family really enjoyed the results. They can't wait until I make more. I am glad that I took the lessons and Chef Stevie helped me become a better baker.

Tamara began practing yoga in 2005 and completed her Yoga Teacher Training at Asheville Yoga Center in NC - 2009.

QI GONG
Tamara began practicing Chinese QiGong in 2003 after discovering it's similarities to her intuitive practice, Internal Alchemy. She was strongly intrigued by this energy practice with over 5000 years of passed down teachings. Tamara soon trained at Kun Yu Shan Academy of Martial Arts in China in 2006. She then studied the rudiments of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at Dragon Rises College, 2009-2010.

SKATING
Tamara has been ice skating since age 2, roller skating since age 3, rollerblading since 1994, and urban street skating since 1999.

I went to Tamara for Yoga to just feel more present and to become more flexible, but I got so much more. A problem with my neck and shoulder I had for so many years that I forgot it was always there , is now gone. It was locked up for years & it's now loose. It gets stiff on occasion, and when it does I now know how to release it. And it works! It took time and practice, but it got there! It's more like a therepeutic, transcendental session of magic wherein I'm learning how to do the magic on my own. So good!

The class was a blast. My wife and I gave each other a gift to take a cooking class from Dave Hammer. The lessons weren't too complicated and even an old guy like me was able to do it. A great date night for any couple. Highly recommended.

About Stephanie
After 15 years working in high-tech I had enough of the constant stress, demanding work and long hours scrunched at my desk trying to solve other peoples issues. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do next so I started taking classes in anything that sounded interesting. I took my first cooking class at the local community college and loved the way it made me feel. It wasn't until I took my first baking class in this degree program that I knew I was home. After graduating with a hospitality management degree, I transferred to Johnson and Waled University in Rhode Island to earn a degree in Pastry Arts

My first job was with the Rhode Island Hospital. This hospital had received great recognition for the quality of food the kitchen produced. The director wanted to create a pastry program to expand the selections even more. Thus started
my career.

Coming back to the bay area, I wanted a more autonomous position, so I went into business for my self; first with a whole sale bakery which morphed into a catering business. I did this for 12 years, and loved it. All this time I was teaching community baking classes, adult education baking and pastry classes, and teaching part time at Mission College in Santa Clara.

I was then asked by Mission Valley ROP program to create a culinary/pastry program from scratch. It was a real challenge, but I found I really like challenges. From there I went to work for Whole Foods as a Pastry Chef.

After a few years of working for WFM I started teaching at the Art Institute in San Francisco. From there I went to Le Cordon Bleu, Also in San Francisco.

In the middle of all this I got married to a wonderful man.

The Cordon Bleu closed in September of 2016. Which brings me to the present. I am passionate about teaching baking and pastry, and hope to create a program which will allow students to understand baking, not to just follow recipes. My goal is to flame the creativity, and passion in my student, and fuel the desire to keep learning.
