I have a broad understanding of music. I am well versed in saxophone, jazz, music theory, composition, and arranging. Aside from my experience in all these fields, I have a curriculum that offers students a skill tree. The skill tree both cleary documents what students has learned and what the next steps are in the student's path. This also gives students choices in their education. I am all about students being able to provide their own input into their education. My job is to set expectations and guide students through their musical path.
About Zach
Hello, I'm Zach Tyler, a professional saxophone player, composer, and arranger. Right now I am offering lessons to anyone with a desire to begin or further their musical path. I am a huge believer in music being a core part of the human experience which is why I have cultivated a curriculum that

LOVE MUSIC? PLAY IT!
I am a former classroom music teacher, with an MA in Music Education, and I have been a working musician/recording artist for 30 years. I am patient and experienced in getting results. I believe the recipe for music education is Knowledge, Practice, and Fun = Joy. Spreading joy is a valuable service for good community.
I can help every student achieve his or her goals, whether it's to lead a campfire circle or play Carnegie Hall someday. (One of my students opened for B.B. King, and most of my students will play music for the rest of their lives. Some have grown to lead their own bands.)
I offer lessons in:
Guitar: All styles: Beginner to Advanced.
Piano, voice, ukulele, saxophone, and recording: Beginner to Intermediate.

Learning how to play saxophone starts with the right equipment--namely, a quality neck strap! Read on for some helpful advice from Brookings, SD teacher Carl S... The saxophone is a unique instrument for many reasons. One example is that the saxophone is the only band instrument that uses a neck strap.
