I have used Ableton Live for over ten years. I use it for recording, producing, and live performance. There are many Ableton controllers that I am familiar with such as the Push, Push, APC40, and Launchpad. My education comes from a self taught practice, as well as having a Music Technology B.A. from Cal State San Bernardino.

Seemed a little disorganized. It might have been part of the "getting to know me" process and what I wanted to accomplish. The hour went by very fast!

I have taken lessons from Benjamin, and found him to be an excellent teacher. If you are looking for someone to teach you bass, or guitar you can't find a more patient teacher. I would recommend him to anyone seeking lessons.

My Ableton students should expect to work on developing their technical skills in the software to the point where the software does not get in the way of their expression. This is akin to developing your technique on an acoustic instrument. We will work on creating as many finished tracks as possible to make those skills happen quickly. All of this will include furthering the student's knowledge of music theory and compositional form, whether the student is a skilled acoustic musician just starting with Ableton, or a skilled Ableton user looking to develop their compositional technique.

All of my students will work on these foundations. From there, I work with my students to create a tangible system to organize their practice and goals so that we can work on more specific areas relevant to what they want out of their musical life. This system is extremely flexible and effective. I also encourage and assist my students to use this system in other areas of their lives, such as ...

I am a composer, performer, and producer of progressive acoustic and electroacoustic music. My music is characterized by disjunct, interlocking rhythms; extended harmonies and angular melodies; glitch and soundscape textures; and gradual, additive development. I am a vigorous advocate for musical pluralism and draw inspiration from a smattering of musical influences, including indie and alternative rock, jazz, progressive metal, hip-hop, and EDM.

An avid performer of contemporary music, I compose for and play piano in the brain-funk band Emergency Stopping Only.

For me as a teacher, it is vital to help instill in my students a love for all sorts of music. I am an exceptionally patient teacher, and I aim to be encouraging at all times. It is extremely important to me that my students feel supported and empowered to achieve their highest musical aspirations.

About Jared

Brief intro: I am a composer, pianist, computer musician, and producer with an omnivorous appetite for music of any style or genre. I am an avid educator, and it is my goal as a teacher to help instill in my students a drive to achieve their highest musical aspirations. A little more info: I am a

"Matt does a great job of adapting his instructions to match where the students knowledge is currently. I started taking lessons from him after spending a few years learning bits and pieces of ableton on my own. Matt quickly figured out where I was, what I can do to improve what I've learned, and helped me make steps moving forward. No matter you're experience level I can't recommend learning from Matt enough. I leave every lesson with so much more knowledge than before that I can immediately start applying to my own work and work flow. Thank you Matt! Looking forward to many more lessons."

"Taylor is an amazing teacher! She really knows how to break down complicated subjects for people like me who have no idea how music theory works and why it's important. My class is divided into theory and actual use of the software which is really a great way to learn the concepts and apply them yourself. We also had a lot of fun jamming out to little songs we made!"

"Im learning from the best! Joseph is incredibly knowledgeable and has worked on a wide range of projects involving Abelton. His friendly and helpful personality makes him easy to learn from. He pays attention to how I learn best and implements that into the learning flow. His in-home studio is the perfect place for a quiet, one on one learning session. He even met me before the class started to discuss where I was at within the program. He really does go above and beyond in many ways! Thanks Joseph!"

I'm brand new to DAW software, and I really needed someone to help me work through it from step one. Now I feel like I've got the ideal situation going on, where I work on it on my own during the week, come up with a million questions, and then I can ask him and solve my issues once a week. Very nice guy, more than worth the price of the lessons."
