Knitting Lessons in Itasca. Amazing Teachers.

Have you always wanted to learn to knit? I can teach you the in's and out's of knitting from beginning to end. Want to learn a new technique and need a little help? I often will take the time to learn new techniques just for the challenge of it. I have taught since 2010 and love knitting anything from washcloths to ornaments to socks and sweaters and beyond. This is a portable and relaxing activity.

Learn to knit basics
Hand Made Washcloths - In this beginners class Karen Jacobson will teach you how to cast on, knit, yarn over and bind off to create a homemade wash cloth. You bring yarn (4 1/2 oz. skein of sugar and cream 100% Cotton yarn) and needles (pair size 7 or 8, short ones are easier to work with) and you leave with the pattern and the know how to begin your own projects. This pattern can be easily converted to make other items, from table runners to scarves.
Hand Made Slippers and Baby Booties - Learn to knit and purl. In this more advanced class Karen Jacobson will review knitting basics (cast on, knit, bind off) and will teach you how to purl and make pom-poms to create a pair of homemade baby booties. You bring yarn (2 oz skein 4 ply worsted weight Cotton yarn) and needles (pair 10 1/2) and you leave with the pattern and the know how to begin making your own slippers. This pattern can be easily converted to make adult size slippers as well.

Knitting lessons are always fun and unique to each student’s needs and wants. Lessons can include things such as learning stitches, going over a pattern that a student wants to make, explaining knitting techniques, working on projects from beginning to end and anywhere in between. I am a flexible teacher that wants to help you reach your goals by working with you to create the best experience possible.

I love knitting, enjoying making a huge variety of items using many different techniques. I knit using the English style, having grown up in Cheshire, England, but also knit using the Continental style of knitting too. I have been teaching knitting in groups and on a one to one basis for a few years. My students have ranged in age from 8 years old to 80 years old.

I am an experienced knitting teacher and am certified to teach knitting by The Knitting Guild Association (TKGA) and the Craft Yarn Council of America. My goal is to educate and preserve for future generations the appreciation of hand knitting as a fiber art that provides stress relief, is a creative outlet, and provides a sense of accomplishment.

I truly enjoy teaching others to knit and have enjoyed 15 years of helping new knitter's confidence soar and creativity grow while teaching knitting in various venues throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties including Pasadena City College, Monrovia Adult School, the City of Santa Fe Springs, City of Glendale, City of Orange and City of Whittier.
