My students and I have at least one in-person meeting per week with the goal of preparing them for rated competitions. During this meeting, I will go over tactical themes with the student, challenge him/her with puzzles, go over and discuss Grandmaster games and opening variations, or play training games.

I will also chat with the student and find out what she been doing, what she has been working on, and ask her what problems she has encountered during her training.

About Daniel

Hi, I'm a chess tutor and competitor! I teach students of all ages and skill levels and have volunteered for the non-profit organizations Chess Challenge in DC and Chess Girls DC. "I have really enjoyed my lessons with Florin. It is a fantastic opportunity to take lessons from an International Master, because Florin is able to quickly and clearly explain chess concepts to me in a way that I can immediately use in my games. My game has improved markedly since studying with Florin. He always keeps the lessons filled with good content but makes them relaxing and fun. I intend to continue my study with Florin and I strongly recommend him as a chess instructor."
