As a music teacher of over 10 years I take a fun but structured approach to learning the harp. I've taught all ages and I individually work with each student to help them learn the music that they want to and reach the goals that they set for themselves. I also have a large emphasis on hand position and help my students have the very best technique so they can play their very best. We will typically start with exercises and technique and then move to music. I will then send written individual feedback after the lesson to help remind the student of what we are working on. I hope to have the chance to share my love of music with you!

About Jill

I am a harpist, pianist, arranger, composer, performer and lover of music. With over 12 years of experience teaching both piano and harp lessons. Hello! I started my harp teaching life as a research doctor and therapist, using harp vibrations with patients for 9 years in Mayo Clinic hospitals. After recording Harp Of Hope as a harp therapy treatment for helping with anxiety and other symptoms, I began to meet many people who wanted to learn harp for healing their own symptoms. So I began to teach harp, specializing in adult beginners.

I am a Conservatory-trained harpist and pianist, so I emphasize good technique, but I want my students to enjoy life. So I try to fill lesson times with peace, laughter, and joy in the music. That's what it's all about! I live on a beautiful lake in Northern Kentucky, and I lead harp retreats there. I also rent harps to students. Most of my students are adults who have always wanted to play the harp... so, if that's you, too, I look forward to meeting you!

About Dr. Diane

Music gives me so much joy in life, that I simply love teaching it to others! By age 9, I was a piano student who, at age 12, went to the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati with plans of becoming a concert pianist. I won a major piano competition at 15; but by 19, an injury to my hand ch

Harp:
A stringed musical instrument that has a number of individual strings running at an angle to its soundboard; the strings are plucked with the fingers. Harps have been known since antiquity in Asia, Africa and Europe, dating back at least as early as 3500 BC. The instrument had great popularity in Europe during the Middle Ages and Renaissance, where it evolved into a wide range of variants with new technologies, and was disseminated to Europe's colonies, finding particular popularity in Latin America. We will start by learning how to tune, seating and hand/plucking placement. I have an easy to follow technique where you will learn the strings, notes, how to read music, rhythms, plucking techniques, and songs. As the student advances theory and soloing will be incorporated.

Karen is an incredibly skillful teacher. She is very passionate about music and it easy to be comfortable with her. She shares her training and knowledge very clearly. The vocal exercises seem very unique and holistic for body and voice health. She is very encouraging, caring, and soul-uplifting. I feel like I have a new connection with my voice and all that is connected to using it... as an instrument and the journey is only just starting. 45 minutes went by so fast. I am looking forward to my next lessons.

I thought I wanted to take viola lessons. Then I read her website and I realized that she might be able to help me get my voice back! I thought there was no hope ever. She has been extremely generous with her time, and I haven't seen her yet, but I'm not buying the viola I was planning on buying. I play cello, and piano still, but I am going to see if she can help me with my voice. She sounds incredible. I never dreamed that I could even have HOPE like this!

Kristie taught my son harp for 1.5 years before he left for college. He absolutely loved Kristie. She is patient, and makes the lessons interesting and engaging. She allows students to choose from a selection of music so that they learn how to play something they like. She encourages experimentation and engagement. My son wanted to learn the harp because it was interesting, not because he wanted to be a world class performer. Kristie really got that and made the lessons something he looked forward to every week. And she herself was a world class performer so if that's what you're looking for in a teacher, she can deliver that to. Kristie is a super teacher; my son still keeps in touch with her and says lessons with Kristie were one of the highlights of high school.

I was nervous walking into my first piano lesson, as I was COMPLETELY out of my element, though I knew that I had a passion to start learning. Kristie made me feel at home and reassured me that this was normal. She is extremely informative, and not only teaches you what you need to know, but explains WHY things are the way they are- which further developed my love for the music. Also, I have noticed that she is good at knowing where to start. She saw that I was picking it up quickly, so advanced quickly to challenge me more. Loved every lesson so far, and look forward to the future ones as well!!!!

We've had the best first time lessons experience with Kristie. She is knowledgeable, patient and extremely flexible. I especially appreciate the way she is able to reign in my seven year old's often wandering attention span. I look forward to continuing to work with Kristie in the future.

Chelsea is a fantastic teacher who combines a disciplined mastery of the harp with a genuine understanding of each student. She is engaging and kind with children and a lovely person and teacher in every way. We love working with her and it has been extremely gratifying to witness our children’s progress under her tutelage ! I feel so lucky to have her as our teacher.

Chelsea is WONDERFUL! She has supported every aspect of our son’s development with regard to his harp playing and we are so grateful for her support!! Chelsea is a top professional and anyone would be lucky to have her teach music!!
Stephanie
I had the benefit of taking lessons from Chelsea after I had been learning to play for a bit over a year. She was both encouraging and warm personally, and gave me several ways to think about technique, which helped a great deal. She was able to give me insights to help me get into music theory, as well as technique and practical questions, all so valuable for a beginner!

"My daughter has been taking lessons with Jessica for six years (since she was 7 years old) . Jessica immediately developed a rapport with her and put her at ease to focus on enjoying the harp. As an instructor, she is extremely patient and kind. Also, she teaches at her harp store so it is very convenient for instrument maintenance such as getting replacement strings. Most recently, she has gotten my daughter performance-ready for several competitions and auditions. What we most appreciate is Jessica providing opportunities to expand her world through harp."
