Singing is so much more than letting the sound out of your body. With me as your teacher, we will study breath support and vowel focus to grow your sound, ear training for precision and theory for a deeper understanding of the music you'll sing.

I am a classical pianist and pedagogue with over 14 years of teaching experience and a doctoral degree in piano performance and pedagogy.

I work with students of various ages and levels. Some of my primary goals as a teacher are to help students develop a deeper love and appreciation for music and music making, as well as a greater learning autonomy.

Depending on student's personal goals and progress, I will encourage participation in studio classes, recitals, competitions and/or other performance opportunities. I offer lessons in English, Russian, and Romanian.

I'm into recording and composition using simple apps - students will immediately learn fun sources for loops and ways to level themselves up by learning exercises and how they relate to their own recorded creations. By taking useful tools and making them available round the clock on a phone as well as handwritten notes during a class, students will explore midi, home recording skills, and flexibly learn a vast spread of cool handheld functions.

About Spencer

I'm so excited to get into music with the amazing spread of people out here! It's fairly daunting to take up a new skill, so I'd like to say that we're going to find a path that keeps interest and skill levels up. You are not required to suffer. Using several fun (and, importantly, very free) apps

Developing our ears is a crucial part of nurturing our musicianship. Having the ability to hear specific aspects of music allows us to strengthen our understand and appreciation of music.

Like my trombone lessons, ear training lessons will start by solidifying (or reviewing) fundamentals. Once established, we will build upon those fundamental skills to further develop our musical ear.

Paul is a very gifted musician and a great teacher. He is passionate about music, and very patient with students. My son loves his trambone lessons. I highly recommend Paul.

I could tell Paul definitely knew all the tiny details about mastering the trombone since the first lesson. He recognized what I needed to improve upon in order to reach my goals in a timely manner, armed me with the tools to do so, and I have no doubt that I will achieve those goals as the lessons progress.

I believe that playing music is possibly the most fun activity a person can engage in, and learning how to improve at an instrument is a valuable experience that crosses over to many aspects of one’s life, as well as being really exciting and rewarding.

I have been playing guitar for over 10 years, and teaching almost as long. In California, I taught at the Santa Barbara Academy of Rock, Jensen’s Mainstage Summer Camp, The LOUD Program, Goleta Valley Jr. High, as well as many private lessons. Since moving to Portland in 2014, I have had many private students.

I enjoy playing guitar in a wide variety of scenarios, from rock, funk and soul bands, to accompanying singer songwriters, to playing in a variety of jazz small groups, as well as writing and arranging music.

I have a Bachelors in Arts & Letters with an emphasis in music from Portland State University, as well as an Associates Degree in Music from Santa Barbara City College . I have studied with Chris Judge, Darrell Grant, ...

About Dillon

I’ve been playing guitar for over 15 years, and teaching for most of that time! I love helping people get closer to reaching their musical goals, and showing them how inspiring playing music can be.

They say that "reading is fundamental," and we all sure get a step up in the world from being literate, and learning to write and to read.... But before we learn to read, we need to know our ABC's, and music has ITs own set of basic ABC's! Once you know these, everything in music becomes a lot more understandable and easy to work with - as we begin forming the words and sentences of music, with our musical ABC's!

IT's not rocket science, and IT's not differential calculus.... IT really is as easy as ABC and 1, 2, 3! :-)

About Nolan

Nolan is an international music educator from NYC who has taught and performed in the US, India, Thailand, and Europe. He encourages creativity and improvisation in all of his students, combined with a well-rounded understanding of musical basics.

"We selected Brad Allen because he was using Faber&Faber's Piano Adventures. Since then, my three children have not only excelled in their skills, but they have grown more and more to enjoy playing. Brad is fun and personable and he gives his students the freedom to play the things which will interest them. The amount of practice homework he gives is manageable but still enough to increase their skills. As a parent, I appreciate his flexibility when our schedule gets complicated. I fully trust Brad Allen with the time he spends with my children."

"I studied with Vanessa for a year, and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. She was everything I could have asked for in a voice teacher. As someone who had been too afraid to sing all her life, I never imagined I'd be where I am today. I walked into my first lesson filled with nerves, and left completely calm and excited to go back. Throughout the year Vanessa helped me grow as a singer, and a performer. I learned so much about myself and my instrument. She pushed me to trust myself and be confident in my voice. On top of all that, I had so much fun in every lesson; I laughed almost as much as I sang. Vanessa is truly incredible, and I consider myself luck to have been one of her students."

"Lin teaches my 6 year old son the beginning level violin lessons in fluent English. She is very patient, dedicated, professional, has an excellent understanding of music and a good musicality. Within the 6 months of learning, my son can play many lovely songs, like Jingo Bells, Odd to Joy. He has made tremendous improvement, and can move his fingers on G, D, and A string freely, and can read the notes faster than we do. Lin provides different versions of violin classes, one for adults and the other for kids. She is a wonderful teacher, helps us enhance our knowledge of musical theory and definitely violin too. We highly recommend her."

"My son has been learning violin with Mr. Tigran since last 8 months. He started with very basic 8 months ago and last week his middle school won 12 trophies and he was at the center of the performance. Thanks to Mr. Tigran. Mr. Tigran has the ability to come to student level and bring a change. He is soft, polite and professional. My son is fully involved in violin now and looking towards next level. I am very pleased with his performance and looking forward that one day he will be playing like Mr. Tigran. During the last 8 months there were some occasions where my son was not able to meet the schedule appointment and Mr. Tigran was very accommodating with these situations. Mr. Tigran has the ability to relate music with daily life examples so kids can understand it better. A good communication is extremely important for a teacher and he posses this skill and knows how to apply it. I can see my son will grow very well with his music in future."
